Who: Red Hood, Open to Reaction from Batman and any other Batfamily member who would go to the bat-signal.
Where: Gotham City, The Bat-signal!!
When: 7/5, Backdated.
What: One last call for Bruce's attention from the Red Hood.
Rating: Low for now?
Jason carefully laid out the newspapers around the batsignal, using rocks as paper weights. The papers were from various dates and time, some of them years apart, but they all had a common theme:
”8 DEAD IN LATEST JOKER ATTACK”
“CLOWN PRINCE OF CRIME STRIKES AGAIN”
“COMMISSIONER’S DAUGHTER SHOT: JOKER TO BLAME?”
“JOKER BREAKS OUT”
He knew he had to work quickly and carefully so he wouldn’t get caught. The last thing he needed was Gordon or someone coming to signal the Bat. This was between him and Bruce, and the GCPD didn’t need to get caught in the crossfire. Jason picked up the crowbar from the ground and twirled in his hand a couple of times, looking at the signal. Even as Robin, he thought it was stupid. Technology had advanced enough that the city didn’t need some ridiculous, glorified flashlight to call it’s “hero.” Bruce use to tell him it gave citizens hope, that is was more a symbol than a call for help. Wham Jason hit the middle of the bat, denting it. So much for a symbol. It hardly meant anything anymore. Eventually the city would see that, Jason hoped, especially after the Blackgate disaster. Every time a criminal was put away, that was another chance for them do bust out and wreak havoc, which they almost always did.
Another hit. Glass around the lights shattered, busting a few of them. Amazing what damage a simple strip of metal could do. There were a few more loud clanks as Jason hit, dented, and scratched the sides of the signal. It looked like simple vandalism, but with the newspapers and by leaving the crowbar behind, he knew that Bruce would get the message.
He flicked the switch on. The image in the sky was still Bat-like, albeit slightly distorted now. Jason lept off the side of the building and disappeared in the streets before anyone could answer the call.
