It was the shoes! Always the shoes! Jade was upset with her wardrobe at the moment and struck with indecision at what to wear. Roy had kind of caught her off guard by the invitation to get drinks since she hadn't planned on going out in the middle of the week and now she had to come up with something fresh and new to wear. And God forbid she be seen in the same outfit twice. Not that he would notice, but it was the principal of the matter. Any fashion maven worth her salt wouldn't be caught dead making that kind of fashion faux pas, which was something she prided herself on.
The dress was perhaps fancier than necessary but the bag and the shoes toned it down and made it a bit more casual/fun, but yet appropriate for the bar he picked out - apparently some upscale pub, by the looks of the Yelp reviews. And it wasn't as though she had picked it for him, after all. Dressing up just made her feel good not to mention fun. But despite those hiccups and temporary setbacks Jen made it to the bar and early at that.
Jen found an empty place at the bar while she waited for Roy and ordered a drink, gin and tonic because that’s what she had been in the mood for. But with that drink came a side of unwanted attention from a guy the other side of the bar who had decided ooze on up to Jen and hit on the meta. At first Jen gave a small smile and tried to make polite small talk, but mostly didn't want to be bothered. As the time ticked on Jen was getting annoyed and a bit flustered that the guy wasn't taking the hint and that yes, she was meeting someone and no, she did not want to go back to his place and was, otherwise, too nice to really tell him off.
