WHO: Thomas, Jamie and Anna Kemp
WHAT: Floof
WHEN: When Jamie was 9, so...eleven years ago!
WHERE: Their tiny apartment
WARNINGS: TBA but likely nothing

Someone out there really liked Thomas today.

He had left Jamie with his sister that afternoon while he attended one of his later classes. There had been very little in the cupboards, but Thomas had planned to swing by the food bank after his class ended in order to fill it up again. He got paid in a few days anyway, so they would be just fine.

Better than fine, since the moment Thomas had gotten there, a large donation from a local bakery had come in and since the workers knew he had a son, he had been allowed to take a little something extra special home with him. It was heading towards the end of November and that was holiday season. Since people tended to be more giving during the holidays it always meant getting to take home more food from his food bank shop.

Thomas kicked the door to announce his presence, since his hands were full of shopping bags. He heard his older sister laugh and then, once she had correctly assessed it was Thomas, she pulled the door open. "I can't even see you behind those bags, Tommy," she chuckled, taking one from him and placing it on the counter.

"You should have seen me climbing the stairs," Thomas laughed. "Jamie! I have a surprise!" He had been gone several hours and by now it was after dinner time. Usually Anna made Jamie some mac and cheese on the nights Thomas had later classes, but since there hadn't been any, dinner would be a little late and Jamie was probably pretty hungry. Thankfully that wasn't going to last long.

"Well I love you more than doughnuts," Jamie told him. "And doughnuts are pretty awesome. But it's cause you're the coolest dad. Obviously."

Thomas beamed at Jamie and moved in to wrap his arms around the young boy. He was just so precious, and sometimes Thomas couldn't really believe Jamie had come from him.

Well. Most likely.

It didn't matter anyway, Jamie was his son, no matter what.

After a quick kiss on Jamie's head, Thomas returned to the stove to stir the pasta and then he checked on the nuggets. "Just about ready, Kiddo. Can you set the table? Need help down or can you do a big jump?"

"I can do it," Jamie said, sliding down off the counter and heading over to the table. He set a plate and glass in front of each of the chairs, then grabbed forks from the drawer. He grabbed the ketchup from the fridge and brought it to the table for his nuggets, then went back to stand next to his dad. "All done," he reported.

Thomas turned to grin at his son, who looked pleased at his work. "And you did a fantastic job too!" He pulled the nuggets out of the fridge and switched the stove off before carrying everything (and hot pads) to the table.

"Here we go, Kiddo. Food time. And remember, if you need more you can have more, and there's dessert too. Okay?" Usually Thomas was going on and on about there being no seconds, so it was nice to say something different for once.
