WHO: Armaan Khatri, Erato, Orpheus
WHEN: Tuesday evening
WHERE: A gay club
WHAT: Meeting
WARNINGS: Doubt it?

Possibly going out on a Tuesday night during finals prep was an odd choice, but Thursday was his mother's birthday, and his family always milked an entire weekend out of it. There was going to be no chance to get out on the town, which meant if he really wanted to hook up with someone, best to do it before family time and prying questions like couldn't he just find a sweet Desi girl to settle down with?

He headed into the club, wearing a tank top that was a little too tight and far too cold for the weather. It really wasn't about that though. Shouldering his coat off, he checked it and stepped over to the edge of the space, casting his eyes about to see if he recognised anyone. A couple of the guys he occasionally hooked up with came here and he was hoping to see one of them, but so far, no luck. Maybe he should get a drink and then head to the dance floor and see where the evening took him?

He headed over and ordered a beer, waiting patiently while the music thumped in his ears.

Erato smiled and took a big sip of her drink. "Call me Jasmine," she replied, completely ignoring, or uncaring of, her admirers. "Do you wanna dance with me? That'll get rid of those pesky finals." She could get this drink down quickly enough, and get straight back to the fun part.

"Nice to meet you, Jasmine," Armaan grinned. He took a deep swig of his beer and then he nodded. "And I'd love to dance, but I should state up front I'm gay." Why was it so easy to do here, and yet he could never get the words out with his family? "But if you don't mind dancing with a gay guy, then let's do it." If she was just here to find someone to hook up with, he didn't want her to feel like he had led her on and wasted her time. But Armaan was just as happy meeting friends, and she seemed fun!

"Honey, I only dance with gay guys," Erato laughed. "At least, I do here. What are your finals for?" She was asking questions to fill time while they finished their drinks. Sometimes people said they were studying literature, which was always a bit of a boost. Especially if it was Shakespeare.

That made Armaan beam back at her, and he finished off his beer quickly. "Perfect, then! I'm studying broadcasting because I want to be...and I am not joking...a weatherman," he laughed. "But any broadcast journalism is fascinating to me. I just like terrible weather puns. What do you do?"

"That is amazing!" Erato was incredibly tickled at that prospect. She didn't meet many like that! She look a couple of big gulps of her drink. "I'm an editor for a romantic book publisher. I tell the authors if their smut is sexy enough." She winked at him, and polished off the last of the drink. "Come on then, I want to see if you can move!"

"What a job!" Armaan grinned at her. When she finished off her drink, he finished off his, and then offered her a hand. "You want to know if I can move?" he laughed, "I'm Desi and I've been watching Bollywood movies my entire life!" It was a joke, but Armaan was an incredible dancer.

He held out a hand to her, waiting to head out onto the dance floor together.

Erato giggled and took his hand, carefree and wild as she skipped onto the dancefloor, spinning around to face Armaan. If there was anything that she could do as a Muse, it was dance. Music called to her soul and gave her feet wings as she turned and dipped and jumped. Even doing the most basic of basic girl dancing looked fluid and graceful on her. She grinned at Armaan, her hair falling around her face. "I love this song!"

Armaan loved it when someone could keep up with him on the dance floor. He loved it even more when they were far better than he was, and he had to keep up with them. And that was certainly the case with Jasmine. Armaan was a great dancer, but she was fucking phenomenal.

"It's so good!" he said, wrapping his arms around her, so they could get a little closer. Sure, it wasn't going to lead anywhere, but why not have fun!

"Is this your usual jam?" Erato shouted over the noise, leaning in close so Armaan could hear her. "I love just about anything so long as you can dance to it. How about you?"

His usual jam was musicals but he didn't want to say that and sound like One Big Cliche. "Same!" he said, twisting his hips about, pulling her closer. "You're an incredible dancer!"

"I practise a lot!" She bumped her hip against his, swaying her body in time to the beat. She glanced up just then at a couple of booths across the way, blocked off by ropes, and the lounging people socialising inside them. "Hey, how do you feel about country music?" she asked, looking back to Armaan.

Country music was not Armaan's favourite genre, but it had been his dad's. Sometimes he listened to it, just for the nostalgia. He missed his father so much, and the music was a true connection to him.

That was really difficult to get across while they were dancing in a loud club though. "I like it!" he said, grinning as they danced. "It was my father's favourite!"

"My nephew is in music, used to be in Nashville, he's in the VIP. Chord Rhapsody. You wanna come meet him?" Erato glanced Armaan up and down again. Orpheus would probably like this one, she reckoned. A bit beardy for his usual tastes, but he seemed like fun.

Armaan knew who Chord Rhaphsody was, and he raised his eyebrows, interested. "He's your nephew?" he asked, glancing over towards the VIP section. "Sure, I'd like that!"

"Yeah! I'm older than I look," Erato said with a little grin, and she took Armaan's hand to lead him through the crowd towards the VIP section. The security let them through with a nod, and then they were in.

Orpheus was sitting on a curved bench seat with a low round table in front, his bare feet propped up against the edge of it, and he smiled as Erato appeared. "Having fun?" he asked, shooing someone to the side of him to make room for his aunt to join him. "Who is your delectable friend?"

"This is Armaan. He's going to be a weatherperson," Erato replied, bouncing to sit down next to him. "Isn't he lovely?" Orpheus' only reply was to look Armaan in the eyes and bestow him with a warm smile.

Jasmine saying she was older than she looked was his first twig she might not have been entirely truthful with who she was. Was she immortal? Was she a god? Interesting.

Armaan followed her up into the VIP section and he smiled widely at Chord. "Lovely to meet you," Armaan said, extending a hand as he sat down. "My love for weather puns is all-consuming," he laughed. Jasmine's nephew was breathtakingly gorgeous, and Armaan was havign a hard time not just staring.

Orpheus took Armaan's hand and held it between both of his for a long moment, taking him in. "I'm sure you will storm it," he said, deciding to play along, just to make him smile again. "If you were on my tv, I'd actually watch it. Do you want a drink?" He gestured to a server to come over and take drink orders, and then looked back at Armaan. "So you've been getting to know my beloved aunt, then?"

Armaan laughed brightly at the pun, and then his smile turned a little more flirty as Chord suggested he would watch TV were Armaan on it. He ordered another beer and then nodded happily. "Yes, we were dancing! Do you come here often?"

"These day, I do. I've left country music behind me. I'm looking for a more urban sound." He gestured to the room and the dance track that was playing. It wasn't the most original, but there was potential there. "Heard this great riff on the subway the other day. It spoke to me deep down, you know?"

Erato smiled fondly and leaned back in the chair. "Of course it did darling. You'll write a love song for me next, won't you?" she asked, and looked at Armaan. "I always request love songs and he cannot help making them a bit sad."

"Because all love stories must inevitably end in tragedy with the setting of the sun," Orpheus replied, and Erato sighed wistfully. "What of you, weatherman? Have you experienced deep love and loss?"

Armaan found himself hanging on every single word Chord said, and it was a strange feeling, to be so engrossed by someone. He hadn't felt that in a long time.

And then Chord said all love stories ended in tragedy and wasn't it just the truth? His own mother had experienced that twice. Every single person in love was either going to leave or be left, or die, or experience the death of the person they loved. And they just had to hope the stuff in between made it worthwhile.

"Not...not the kind they write stories about," he admitted. "My family doesn't know I'm gay and it keeps me from- I don't tend to form deep attachments. But my father- My step-father in reality, but he raised me. He died when I was a teenager and I loved him so much. These days the pain is less and I'm just glad for the time we had, you know?" He wasn't sure what it was about these two that made him speak so only, but there was something about them.

Orpheus nodded sympathetically, and Erato rubbed Armaan's shoulder to soothe him. "Oh that's too bad," she murmured sorrowfully. "Your father couldn't have done anything about it?" It made sense, that this demi-god's father was the god, not mother, with what he was saying. And that that tingle of familiarity meant related to a god, and she hadn't realised because she was drinking.

Orpheus gave her a look to cool her down, just in case Armaan didn't know what she meant and was about to explain away what she said as soon as it was necessary to.

Armaan blinked politely and then he sort of evaded the question just a little bit. "Haven't seen him since I was two," he said, narrowing his eyes a little. How much did these people know? "And I don't think he would have been all that interested in curing my step-father's lung cancer. He got my mother pregnant when she was fifteen. Don't even know if he could. How did you know? About my father?"

"My beloved aunt has a knack for guessing about people." Orpheus shook his head, and Erato just shrugged with a bashful kind of smile.

"Look at this face, though," she said, gesturing to Armaan. "Such a handsome boy! Worthy of the gods!"

Maybe Armaan would just think they were drunk and weird. Or maybe he might guess what they were talking about...

Armaan knew exactly what they were talking about, though he wasn't going to reveal which god his father was. He tended to keep that to himself. He did smile widely when Jasmine complimented him. "Or the children of gods," he slipped in there, to show he did in fact know. And now he was wondering just who they really were.

Orpheus chuckled, leaning back in his seat again. A couple of Aphrodite's nymphs had been hanging out with them, and they giggled together as he looked towards them. Erato leaned in close to Armaan, her nose for getting some gossip twitching.

"Which pantheon?" she asked, wondering if she could guess. He wasn't Greek, she knew that for certain. Was saying Hindu too obvious? But he did have such a lovely complexion. "And did they give you that unnaturally clear, glowing skin?" Perhaps perfect skin was something unusual to look for in a person, but Erato was drunk enough to want to reach out and stroke Armaan's face. So she did, with the back of one finger like she was stroking a cat.

"Hindu," Armaan indeed confirmed. He quirked a smile as Jasmine pet him. He was glad they weren't so much beating around the bush any more. "I assume they did, thank you for noticing," he laughed. "Which pantheon for you then?"

"We're Greek. Do you know Greek? Greek is the best one." Erato giggled, leaning over for her drink as it was delivered. Orpheus smiled affectionately.

"We're not Olympians, but sometimes... it's better not to be," he said, watching Armaan. He was quite happy being a lesser god, thank you, and not dealing with the politics that came with the top spots. "Have you always known what you are?"

"I know some of the Greek pantheon," Armaan said with a nod. "My mother was always open with me about who my father was." So he was surrounded by gods then, was he? "Not that I know where he is. I don't mind that though. Should I keep calling you Chord and Jasmine?"

"He's a secret Chord," Erato whispered conspiratorially. "Or is he a secret Orpheus?"

"Maybe both," Orpheus replied enigmatically. "I think your next one is a water, my dear aunt."

"I sup only from the pure springs of inspiration," Erato said, making Orpheus smile. He nudged Armaan, glad that he seemed to be taking this all very much in stride.

"There sits beside you a beauty of creativity, one of the glorious Muses," he said, nodding to Erato. "She gives you the triumph and tragedy of love and love lost. And she enjoys vodka and orange just a little too much. And what of you? Where do your interests lie?" He glanced down a moment at Armaan's lips, and back up at his warm, deep eyes. Hopefully, with men.

A muse! Well that explained the dancing. "I thought her dancing was too good to be mortal," Armaan winked. Then he watched as Orpheus took him in, and Armaan lavished in the attention.

"Black coffee, good curry, dancing close, and extremely attractive men," Armaan said, grinning. "Which I assume you are well aware includes you."

Orpheus raised his brows. "Oh, you assume that?" he asked, amused at Armaan's temerity. He knew how good-looking he was, but one didn't dwell on such superficial things. Erato laughed aloud.

"Are you going to force dear Orpheus to admit to having thought about that? When he focuses only on the beauty of his music?" she said, grinning at Orpheus, who cocked his head at her.

"There are more important things in the world than the false beauty standards imposed by our patriarchal society," he began, and Erato tutted.

"He was paying you a compliment, you scoundrel. You say thank you and tell him how kissable his lips are. I'm going to the Ladies'. Excuse me." She gave Orpheus a knowing look and got up, hips swaying as she walked away. Orpheus sighed and looked back at Armaan.

"Thank you, and please ignore her," he said, leaning his arm on the back of the couch, a long-suffering smirk on his face. He took a second glance at Armaan's mouth, his own lips parting softly as he did so. "She is right about your lips, though."

Armaan glanced back and forth between them like he was at a volleyball match, just desperate to keep up. And then Orpheus said 'patriarchal society' and Armaan swooned a little bit. Welp, time to drop all his lame lines then, because they played into patriarchal society and apparently he had kissable lips!

"I couldn't possibly ignore her, she's wonderful," Armaan smiled. "Do you...want to kiss me?"
