Malcolm de Rainault | The Sheriff of Nottingham ([info]whyaspooncousin) wrote in [info]nevermore_logs,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:friar tuck, little john, much the miller's son, robin hood, sheriff of nottingham, will scarlet

WHO: Sheriff of Nottingham, Much the Miller's Son, then probably others
WHEN: Saturday afternoon
WHERE: Parsonage
WHAT: Help me
WARNINGS: TBA

It had taken months for Malcolm to make it out of the woods. After his first death, every single time he came back, he would make it about a day before he would die of starvation again. And every time he woke up right where he had died, with no idea what direction to walk in, and no forest sense, to be able to live off the land, and by nightfall he would keel over and die.

It was just luck which saw him finally, finally wake up in New York City. In Central Park. Probably not 500 feet from where Much had woken up after Malcolm had killed him, not that Malcolm knew that.

He had tried to get home to his apartment, but the state of him meant the doorman turned him away. Didn't even recognise him. He was skin and bone, unshaven, and he smelled like a corpse. Funny, that. And it wasn't like he could explain what was going on, since his words kept coming out all jumbled up. Malcolm was fairly sure John's doorman would react similarly, and if he showed up to his king looking like this- No. He needed to get out of open spaces, Artemis was around, after all. And he couldn't go to John. He couldn't go home.

It was only desperation that had him knocking on the door of the parsonage. He could feel his body failing again. If he didn't get some food into it he was going to die again, and the Merry Men were awful sure, but they still fed the hungry, right? He pounded on the door and leaned against it heavily, hoping someone would answer. And quickly. Hell he almost didn't care if after this they sent him to prison. As long as he was safe from Artemis and out of those woods he would take it.

"Why the fuck is he here!?" Will was absolutely fuming, struggling against Little John's grip. "I should think you made a fucking mistake you nasty, evil worm, what the fuck were you thinking- Let me strangle the prick!- how dare you come here- after everything- let me go!!" Robin's hand on his shoulder was slapped away. Will was in no mood to calm down, not about the Sheriff, not now, not ever.

"Ain't just your decision what happens to him," Little John's voice strained under the effort of holding Will back, though he wasn't budging. "Not saying you can't strangle him later, but he ain't going anywhere. We decide on his fate together, and not the split second after one of us lays eyes on him. Could be there's a better way've getting rid of him. Gotta find it."

Much clenched and unclenched his fists around the staff. Why hadn't he gone straight for the Sheriff's throat, Will was right. If he'd offed him before the others even got here, Tuck wouldn't be looking so scared right now, and they all wouldn't be fighting in front of the Sheriff, which Much bet he was thrilled by. "We should stick ear muffs on him," Much muttered to Rob, watching the struggle. "Maybe a pillowcase so we don't have to look at his smug face."

"Well I know of a house that has a dungeon in the basement," Tuck growled. "We could leave him in there like he did us."

"You dont want that on your conscience," Robin said, though the tone of his voice suggested he wasn't thrilled about that.

"He's in my house!" Tuck yelled. His home where he lived with Will. Where their baby daughter would be soon.

Robin turned to the sheriff and he said, "i want you to understand, what ever we decide to do with you, that if you ever come back here...if we even find you anywhere near this place, Artemis is gettin a call, you hear? This place is off limits. You think a month odd in the woods is bad? Imagine it for the rest of your pitiful existence."

For his part, Malcolm whimpered.

If anything, the pathetic whimper just infuriated Will more. How dare he come here and ask for their protection, their goodwill, after everything he'd done to them? After keeping them prisoner and starving them, and-

He stopped struggling, but he was shaking with fury. "You miserable, worthless shit, you have the absolute fucking temerity to ask anything of us, after the cruelty you put us through? You can rot in hell, fucking scum!" He tried to shake Little John's arms off, promising he wasn't going to attack anyone.

Little John released Will from his grip, feeling pretty fluent in his friends' body language by now. Will probably wasn't going to lunge again straight away and if the Sheriff did say anything to set him off then Little John figured he deserved an angry Will at his throat.

Much was torn, more and more as each moment passed. He was with Will in his outrage, he wanted to hurt the Sheriff so bad he never came looking for them again, he felt furious with himself that he'd given the fucker a drink of water instead of dumping it over his ugly face (Will was never allowed to know that he'd done that.) Overall, Much was itching for Rob to tell him what do to.

Tuck was too terrified to be as angry as Will was, but he agreed with every single word his partner said. "Please fucking tell me you aren't letting him go!" Tuck yelled at Robin. "Please don't- I can't-" Tuck reached up and curled a hand in his shirt, over his heart. Was it getting harder to breathe? He wanted to go to Will, but he didn't want the shift to know about their relationship.

Robin stepped over to him, and the second Robin placed his arm around Tuck, tuck was clinging to him for dear life. "No way in hell," Robin promised the friar. "But we need to come up with a long term solution together. And not in front of his fuckin face. Short term, where can we keep him where he can't cause no trouble?"

Tuck, still clinging, whispered, "Michael?"

"Tie him up and leave him on Phoney Prince John's doorstep. Make him his fuckin' problem." Will sneered at the Sheriff. "Two pathetic weasels for the price of one."

He turned away from the Sheriff, looking across at Tuck under lowered brows. He hated the Sheriff with every fibre of his being, and hated that his very presence could cause such a reaction among all of them.

"Take him outside, Rob," he called. "I'll stay here and watch the little pissant. Unless you want to, Much? Give you the chance to take his fuckin' head off if he so much as squeaks."

"Nah I got him," Much said, raising the butt of his staff to the Sheriff's face, where it hovered, carefully controlled, right between his eyes. "Take his head off if he squeaks, roger. You do what you gotta," he said to Will. Tuck needed to get outta here before the Sheriff really clocked how freaked he was and got all smug about it, and if Will wanted to go help remind him how to breath then it was alright, Much had this. So long as he wasn't left alone with the Sheriff (and that didn't seem likely, with Little John hanging close) then he had this.

"Come on," Robin took Tuck's arm and they walked out to the front of the parsonage together. Tuck waited until Will joined them and the door was closed, before he made a frantic grab for Will's hand.

It was to reassure both of them.

"We can't hand him over to John," Tuck whispered vehemently. "The moment he's back to full strength, with John whispering in his ear, he'll be back at it! I say we ask Michael to keep an eye on him until we decide what to do. As a group."

"Will?" Robin asked, turning to his nephew. "You think asking the angel make sure that gobshite don't cause no trouble's a good idea? Give us time to plan."

Will was about to ask, "Michael who?" when Robin said angel and he remembered. He didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the angels. "I guess? I dont know what an angel would do with someone like that, but if you say so." He squeezed Tuck's hand, then turned a furious look at Robin. "What I wanna know is why the fuck weren't we warned about this?? You think walking into our home to find that cockroach, without so much as a by-your-leave, was fun for us?" He felt indignant on Tuck's behalf as well as his own.

"I got here five minutes before you did, Nephew," Robin explained, though there was no anger in his voice. Will had a fucking good point. "But you're right. Should've let you know right away. Caught us all off guard," Robin grumbled. "I'll call Michael. Don't go back in there without me," he said, stepping away to make the call.

Tuck was just working on regulating his breathing. "I'm too scared to be angry," Tuck whispered to his boyfriend, "but I'm right there with you."

"Off guard enough to get you here before us?" Will muttered at Robin's retreating back, then huffed and turned to Tuck. "This is all bullshit. Don't worry. I'm gonna get him outta here asap. You don't need to see him again. Michael, John, a rock tied around his ankles and thrown into the Hudson- whatever, I don't care. He's gone before the hour is out."

Tuck nodded a little frantically. "I want to go hide in my office but I don't want to leave you," he admitted. As much as he wanted to avoid seeing the sheriff again, he hated the idea of Will being anywhere near the sheriff without knowing exactly what was happening even more. He'd almost lost Will to the sheriff once- "A year ago he was killing me," Tuck hissed.

"Did you see where Flora was?" Will asked, suddenly remembering. Hopefully the dog would have scarpered under the bed, but she might have run out the door if she had the chance, and then she could have gone anywhere to hide.

"Yeah, and this year he's at our mercy. Hold it together just a little longer, okay?" Will kissed Tuck on the forehead, clasping his shoulders. "I'm fine. We're not alone."

"I didn't-" Tuck said, worrying about their dog too now. Will was right though. He took a deep breath, which was easier with Will holding his shoulders. "I can do that if you're with me," he said, sounding stronger too. "Thank you."

A second later, there was a sort of soft woosh, and Michael appeared in front of them. "Oh shit-" Tuck gasped, but calmed as soon as he saw it was the angel.

"Heard you have a pest problem?" Michael said, in a tone which made Tuck adore him. "Show me where he is?"

They all moved back inside, Michael a formidable form in front of them. As soon as they walked in it was clear the sheriff had a black eye forming and Robin arched his eyebrow at Much.

"Something happen there, Midge?"

"My staff slipped," Much said, his face the picture of innocence (or a very bad Xerox of said picture). "Oopsie daisy - oh, no shit, Michaelangelo!" His face changed again at the sudden appearance of his friend, and he thrust his staff into Little John's hands and darted over to high five the angel.

"Michaelangelo?" Little John questioned, staring at the stranger with a hard look, though not a suspicious one; if he was following Rob and the lads in, if he could brighten Much who'd been brewing like a stormcloud, he was probably okay.

Will wasn't going to be happy about anything until the Sheriff was well and truly gone. He followed in, stone-faced, keeping himself between Tuck and their prisoner, eyes fixed on him, waiting for some sign, some glint that would tell him that the Sheriff was playing them all for suckers. At least Much was true to his word.

"Must've squeaked," he said to Robin, not caring in the least. If the Sheriff was gonna try his luck with the Merry Men, he deserved everything he got.

"Sounds about right to me," Robin nodded. "Think you can hold him, Michael?"

Michael, who was busy trying to work out a weird secret handshake with Much, turned to Robin and nodded. "Of course I can. I can do wards too. And if you think about fucking around-" Michael flicked his hand and his sword appeared in it. "It usually has flames remember? But I don't want to set the Friar's house on fire so you have to imagine the flames."

Tuck was watching Will - the way Will kept himself between the sheriff and him. God, Tuck loved that man. He spotted Flora out of the corner of his eye, cowering in the kitchen, and he tutted and went to her, pulling her into his arms. "It's alright, sweet Flora. He'll be gone soon," he whispered to her.

Much was deeply disappointed that Michael wasn't bringing the flame, mostly because he very much wanted a go on the sword while the Sheriff was tied to a chair. "Oh come oon," he wheedled. "Just a little fire? Hey cockhead-" this was addressing the Sheriff, rather than Michael "-We've also got an angel on our side, you see that? You understand what that means? Who's a baddie?"

"Just get him out," Will growled. Ordinarily he'd have been showboating with the best but he was so thrown off that he couldn't find much humour. He stood by the kitchen door and folded his arms, glowering at the Sheriff. "And take the hint. Do not come back here. Ever. Coward." He kept eye-contact, silently daring the Sheriff to speak, wanting him to try to have the last word so Will could kick his chair over.

"Oh it's definitely you," Michael said to the sheriff. "You're the baddie. Do you not know that? Come on, let's get him up," Michael stowed the sword and went to help untie the sheriff, though only so he could take the man by the scruff of his neck and carry him out of here.

The sheriff had lapsed into a terrified silence. He was leaning away from Will, scared that he was going to get hit again no matter what he said or did. He was definitely not coming back here. It had been a mistake to do so this time, and now he was being carted off god knew where.

Robin helped Michael by untying the sheriff from the chair and helping the sheriff stand. "We'll let you know what we decide, Michael," Robin said.

Michael didn't seem too worried about that. "Whenever," he nodded.

With the Sheriff quelled past pleading, past arguing, past demanding that Much prove he was good, and with an Archangel at the helm, and Rob and Little John and Will and Tuck all there, Much was hyped. This was a victory and damn, the relief of it made him giddy. "Na na na na," Much sang him out, using his staff like a microphone stand. "Na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbyeee!"

"Classy," Little John said, though not with any great degree of disapproval. As the door shut on the Sheriff (and the angel Michael, well how about that) Little John crossed the room to come up behind Tuck and Will, giving each of their shoulders a squeeze. "Let's get a cuppa into you both. Much?"

"On it!" said Much, who was not onto it at all. He'd darted off toward the front door to make sure it was locked, to watch the Sheriff be manhandled away. What a beautiful sight.

Will slowly, slowly relaxed, his shoulders gradually coming down now that they had peace.

Looking across at Robin, he had to let his last bit of tension out. "You're telling Stutely and Marian about this. Today," he said firmly. "They don't deserve to be shocked by the news." The "like we were" was left unspoken as Will unfolded his arms and shoved his hands into his pockets, turning away to check on Tuck.

Tuck relaxed too, at least a little bit. He leaned against his partner's body, his arms circled around their dog. "We were having such a good day,"he said quietly, sadly, proving he didn't share much's enthusiasm.

Robin had nodded at will and was already texting stutely to make sure he was at the fox.

"Tell us about it," Little John said, his voice a firm platform Tuck could step onto, stop him sliding into misery. "How's the little cricket doing?" His voice carried well as he stepped through into the kitchen to put the jug on, determined to be the sturdiest mofo around. If the subject needed to be changed, Little John was going to manhandle it till it goddamn changed.
