Who: Alice Monroe, Briareos, Digger
When: Thursday afternoon
Where: Briareos' tattoo parlor
What: New tattoo, weird shit is happening, Alice learns the truth

Alice was glad she only worked part time, because the weird conversation on her journal had freaked her out a little. She needed couple of days to calm down from whatever the hell her boss and that lady had been talking about. She really hoped Digger was right and that a group of people were just pretending. It was just strange to her that that such a larger number seemed to be doing it. For now she would just go with the hopes that Digger was correct and try to ignore it. It wasn't working very well, but at least she was trying!

She had reserved a couple of hours for herself with the boss man because she knew the tattoo she wanted would take some time. Hell, it might even take a couple of days to finish. She sat straddled over the chair with her bare back to him as he worked on the wings she had designed for herself. She didn't explain what it meant to her, or why they were chained. She didn't want to because she didn't generally divulge her feelings to anyone. Deep down, Alice felt broken and trapped. She didn't know what would ever happen with Jared, not that she really wanted anything to. She just worried about him, even if she felt he had been avoiding her the last few months.

She took the pain of the needle well, even if it had hurt like a bitch at the beginning. The longer he worked the more numb her back felt, which seemed to help with whatever she had been feeling. She was lost in thought before that strange conversation came to mind. "I didn't know you're married," she said thoughtfully. Out of that entire conversation, Alice had chosen that piece of information. She could have asked about his use of the word mortal and how that lady seemed to be egging him on. She had just never seen a woman around before that wasn't a customer. She had certainly never seen that lady. She was just curious.

Humans were strange to him. They felt too much, and they drove themselves by the nose looking to connect with others. He'd never seen that in himself before. Needing to connect, but then Poseidon had given him Kymopoleia. He was fascinated with her, but it was through the eyes of a monster. He'd been locked away from his siblings and the rest of the world as if they were just something to be hidden. The world grew on without him and he'd slowly lost what he was. Oddly for him when Kymopoliea came back into the picture they had created this strange connection. The thing that he had never understood about humans before. He stopped moving the needle. Maybe this was what this human girl was looking for, and it was strange that she wanted anything from him.

"We're not nice to each other." He hadn't been for a long time, he hadn't understood what Kymopoleia was before. However, now that Poseidon's game had backfired, Briareos felt need to keep her. Perhaps the way he kept this human.

Anyone Alice had ever connected with ended up leaving her. She had decided a long time ago it wasn't worth the heartache. But as she got older she realized how ridiculous that was. Sure, she still felt there wasn't a point in getting to know a lot of people, but there were still others who were worth it. She was glad to be reconnected with Digger, even if he could be insensitive.

"That sucks," she said with a frown. "She looked pretty. I liked her hair. Even if she was being like that." Her phone chimed then, indicating someone was texting her. She figured it was Digger, but she made no request to move. She didn't even look at her phone when she heard the sound.

"I don't think she likes me much still." He dabbed the needle into another color and started to add his own style to her tattoo once he'd gotten the basic outline done. Now it was filling in all the little details, and that was something Briareos had some patience for. He might be a bit heavy-handed, but if he focused on something else, then he forgot there was actually a person under his hands.

It was about then that Digger had messaged to say he was on the way. After the conversation in Alice's journal as well, he wasn't sure WHO she was really working for. He had to find out for himself.

"I guess that's her loss," she said. Alice hadn't had any issues with him, but she only knew him as her boss. She didn't know what had transpired between him and his ex-wife, and in truth it was none of her business. She didn't ask anything else at that point.

Alice thought she could make out Digger's name on her phone, but she still stayed perfectly still. She didn't try to move to make sure, because she didn't want to mess up her tattoo. Digger could wait.

Up and down Briareos' arms were tentacle like designs. All the tattoos on his body were extensions of himself. They represented the limbs he'd lost over time. He'd become so focused that he hadn't realized his hand had started to go numb. When he made another mistake he paused and stepped back. "Need a break." For some reason his hand was not as steady as usual, almost as if it wanted to break loose and grow a new limb. He stood up, taking off his latex gloves and tossing them into the trash as he went into the back room. He needed a moment to himself before he came back out.

It was about then that Digger came into the store, the bell ringing inside to alert that someone new was there. He saw Alice by herself and he looked up from his phone to snap a picture. "Is it done?" he asked looking around the room for her so-called boss.

When he suddenly said he needed a break, Alice blinked and turned her head finally. "Oh, okay. I'll be here," she said with a little shrug. She watched him walk off before she grabbed her phone to see who had texted her. Yep, it was Digger.

Just as she was reading through her texts, Digger walked into the place. "No, it's not finished." She pulled her shirt closer, her back aching from the needlework. "Dammit, Digger, I'm half naked here," she said with annoyance, holding her shirt firmly against herself because she didn't have any gauze over the unfinished tattoo to protect it.

"I just want a picture of the digs...." he pocketed his phone as he got a good look and grimaced. "That looks painful." It made him fidgety, so he started to look at the tools on the table, about to pick one up the moment Briareos stepped back into view.

"Shit!" Digger said, fingers just grazing one of the needles as it clamored to the floor. "Get back!" Briareos expressed with more than his usual monotone. His arm felt like it could almost stretch further than usual, the tattoo of his almost mimicking his movement. Maybe it was the trick of the light, but it looked as if the tentacles on his arm actually moved from their position on his skin to wrap further down his arm.

Alice glared at Digger, "Yeah, well you could wait until I'm not so exposed. Geez." She shrugged, her back twinging a little from the movement, "It's not too bad. I bet you couldn't make through something small." Alice had learned how to channel her inner pain into the pain she felt from the needle.

She made another movement to reach out and stop him touching her bosses stuff. "Dude, don't-" and then watched as it went crashing to the floor. Just as Briareos called out, Alice said at the same time, "What the fuck, Digger!" Right then she glanced back to her boss to assess how pissed off he was but stopped dead in her tracks. She caught that movement. It was exactly like when she thought it looked like the other day. She had shrugged it off from stress. But now... No, they were definitely moving. She just stared for a moment, "What- what the fuck is happening to your arm?" She was even paler than usual. She looked like she had seen a ghost.

"Nothing---" Briareos' face was stone cold. He didn't even twitch. He'd assumed the girl knew about what kind of beings lurked in the city, but by her reaction she did not. While Digger looked scared (he'd even peed a little in his pants), he knew that Braireos was something more than human. He wasn't sure what, and in this instance he realized just how much of a coward he was. He had no idea how to handle this situation, so he just remained still with very little movement as if Braireos was a bear.

"I won't hurt you," Briareos insisted. At least the taste of human flesh didn't exactly sit the same on his stomach anymore. Alice also had an upper hand, the giant actually thought her a friend among other things. If he even knew the meaning of one. He was a loner now without his brothers. She was frail, but he found her tolerable.

Alice just sat there very still, looking scared and unsure what to do. She had no idea the things that walked the streets. She had always assumed everyone was human, because she never thought monsters or pixies or whathaveyou were real. But standing in front of her she saw for herself that those tattoos were fucking moving of their own accord and she felt herself beginning to panic.

Overall, Alice was a rather laidback person. But in this instance she felt her panic levels rising. She found it difficult to breathe and she felt rather suffocated. I won't hurt you... Well, hell, if that was supposed to calm her it did the very opposite. She felt lightheaded and when she went to stand, instead of balancing on her own two feet she instead passed out on the floor.

"Holy shit! What are you?!" Digger looked terrified. What was this thing. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit! He panicked and tried to wake Alice up, but before he could do anything, the tree man picked Alice up and put her on the couch, covering her up and telling Digger to get water. This in some way was Braireos' human, he didn't want her to die. He'd never had a friend before.

Digger was scared as hell, but at least it didn't look like the guy was going to hurt her. "Do I need to call 911?" Digger insisted, pulling out his phone and it was immediately ripped away by Briareos. "Don't." The ancient sea god said as he stared at Digger, and then Digger noticed exactly what Alice had. "What's going on with you?"

Briareos got a bottle of water himself since this human looked more likely to pee his pants (and that was somewhat appealing to know that he had that kind of power). "You know of immortals." And at that moment Digger did pee his pants.

It took about two minutes for Alice to come around. When she came to again, she heard someone say something about immortals. She groaned and opened her eyes, looking around cautiously, "What the hell?" She remembered seeing tentacles, and her heart pounding in her ears, and she couldn't breathe, and then... Then everything had gone black. "Oh god," she said, feeling really pissed off that she had passed out, and in front of Digger and her boss. It was embarrassing because Alice was stronger than that.

It was almost like there was something under Briareos' skin. Digger was the one just staring very blatantly with his mouth open. He couldn't even respond right away. He wasn't supposed to talk about that. "Um----uhhhhh---what?" He tried to play it off, but it was real obvious he knew more than he was letting on.

"What do you know?" Briareos asked with a dark tone that sent shivers down Digger's spine. He may or may not have pissed himself again.

Alice pulled a blanket up and around her. Somehow it made her feel a little safer. She didn't know what was going on. She wondered if she had been drugged or something and was hallucinating. Everything seemed so real, but she really wanted this to be a dream. She pinched herself. Oof. No, definitely awake.

She sat there, watching the exchange between her brother and her boss. Digger seemed just as freaked out as her, if not more. "What do you mean? What's going on?" It was the most intelligible thing that had come out of her mouth in several minutes.

"You know one of us." He could tell by the way Digger was cowering that there was something he knew that he was too afraid to spill. Briareos was an old, old god, and there was something rather invigorating in seeing someone scared of him again. Digger just clamped his mouth shut and shook his head back and forth.

"Who do you know?" Briareos asked. "Tell me, or I make you." And those monsters under his skin seemed to scream and move again, waiting for the chance to break free from this human form.

Digger looked back at Alice and found himself trying to devise an escape route. Couldn't they just run? "I----uh-----I know someone." And Digger really didn't want to announce who. Digger was loyal to Greed, and he'd slipped up before. He didn't know what would happen if he did again. He tried to grab Alice's arm, but he didn't know if she was as terrified of Briareos as Digger was.

Alice watched this exchange, feeling very ignored and forgotten. Figures. She had no idea what either of them were going on about. Digger knew someone? Digger knew lots of people. hat the hell?

Her eyes widened at Briareos' threat and she held up a hand to call a time out, "Whoa, hold it. You're not laying a hand on my brother. What the hell? Will someone please answer my question? What the hell is going on?"

Digger felt really nervous. This guy was a thin stick of a person but that didn't tell him WHO he was. Digger swallowed. "He's no one you need to worry about." Digger wasn't about to let Greed get shit on by someone from some pantheon he didn't know about. Greed was no wizard, but a deadly sin held it's own power.

"Immortals, Alice. He's talking about immortals." Digger was scared to ask who Briareos was.
