Julia had never even considered the possibility that one of her arresting officers might some day become her nephew. How was that even a thing that happened? And yet she was standing on her niece's porch, her arms wrapped around her skinny frame, just knowing it was going to be answered by Victor.

A man she had tried to bribe with sex no less than three times.

When he did indeed pull open the door, he looked her over quickly before pulling her inside. "It's freezing out, Julia. Come inside."

Julia did as Victor told her to, though she was nowhere near comfortable with him yet. "Yeah, tell me about it. The squirt asleep?"

"Deirdre's napping but she'll be up soon." Julia just nodded, staring at Victor until he pointed towards his bedroom. "Kat's in there, if you'd like to say hi."

"Yeah, shit." Julia walked over and stuck her head into Kat's room. "Hey, it's your loser aunt."

"Good," she offered with half a smirk before listening to Julia. "It is, but you just keep trying." She sighed, "it's the trickster thing I think. But yeah he is."

"Shit, I'm sorry about that," it was more sympathy then pity. She couldn't relate. She'd always had it good. "I can promise you that won't happen again. You'll always have a place here if you need it."

"Yeah. Trickster bullshit. I haven't though. Taken anything, I mean. I haven't taken anything in ages. Not even the other day when I was starving. 'Cause I knew Roxie'd help me."

Victor entered the room carrying a plate of carrot sticks and a bowl of hummus. "Dinner's cooking but here. Snacks. Kat's right, you can always stay here."

"I still can't believe you aren't kicking me out, Brannigan. I mean, I tried to suck your dick to get out of an arrest."

Victor just kind of closed his eyes for a moment at the phrasing, before shaking his head. "And nothing happened so it doesn't matter."

She grinned, "good. One day at a time nad if you slip, that's okay. We're only human. And we'll always help you too. If you need it."

She blinked, then laughed. After a while she couched then winced, "shit don't do that, laughing makes me hurt." She took a breath then giggled. "I can just see his face when you offered. That's great." She smiled innocently and looked to her fiancee. "Would it work for me?"

	Julia ducked her head, but she was grinning. "Sorry! No laughing, check." She caught the reddening of Victor's cheeks to Kat's question though, and snorted really loudly. "Oh my god, look at him!" "I'm going to check the potatoes!" Victor said, jumping up and kind of hobbling off to the kitchen. "Oh my god, I think you just gave Brannigan a boner." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Victor's reaction really didn't help. She just laughed again, and set her hand on her stomach. "I'm a bad person." She giggled until she calmed down and shook her head. "And I do have that effect on him. It's not like I couldn't take the bait. It was right there." She smirked at the joke there, "which is, un-ironically, what she said." I mean, I knew he was a good guy when he wouldn't take a bribe, and paid for me to get a hotel and food on two occasions. For nothing. He didn't want nothing in return. She smiled, "you'll find them. I mean I did. I kind of tripped into this, never really thought I'd have anything like this. I still owe my cousin. He wouldn't have said anything if it wasn't for her. I didn't even know he liked me." She shook her head. "and you know he encourages the evil overlord plan. The evil overlord's significant other gets amazing benefits afterall."

Victor stuck his head back out of the kitchen and chuckled. "Aoife was rather convincing. And you would be the cutest overlord."

Julia just smiled at both of them. It was so nice being surrounded by good people. "You relaxed yet there, big guy?"

"Oh, you know. Mostly," Victor said, wandering back in. He sat beside Kat and reached for her hand to kiss it. "And Kat, you know you have me wrapped around your pinky and you could get me to do anything you wanted."

She smiled gently to Victor's words, and the kiss on his hand. "See, he's trying to get even. Sneaky. And be careful with that detective," it was said mostly flirty and with a grin, "I'll take that and run with it."

She kept her smile and looked back to Julia. A bit deliberately but feeling good enough to flirt a bit hadn't been something she'd felt any time lately so she was taking advantage of it. "So I can call you tomorrow about the job thing though. That alright?"

	"You know I'd never mind," Victor said back, gently. He missed being closer to Kat, but he would never rush her. When she was sick he was far too afraid he would hurt her to try anything anyway. "We do," Victor agreed. "Be right back, honey." He kissed Kat's shoulder and rose, heading into the kitchen.

"I still can't believe me lets me anywhere near you. Or your daughter. Not after what he saw."

"He saw a young woman in a terrible situation, doing what she had to do to survive," Victor said, returning and pushing a plate of mashed potatoes and schnitzel into her hands. "Kat, you think you could handle some mashed potatoes?" There was worry in his eyes now, and Julia stayed quiet.

"What he said," she offered with a gentle smile. She sat up when the food came and smiled at Victor. "I'll try." She'd been surviving off crackers for awhile. She was easing into more solid food, although so far soup had proven to be something she could tolerate without throwing it right back up.

"Can you go get Deirdre love? If she sleeps through this meal she'll wake up cranky and hungry later."

	"That's okay. I'll try not to swear in front of her either." Julia had a mouth on her like a sailor, but she didn't need to get in trouble for soiling a baby's ears. Victor, having fetched Kat a bowl of potatoes, eventually emerged with a sleep-cranky little girl in his arms. "She's a little fussy, but no crying yet!" he said, planting a kiss on Deirdre's head. 	She waved her hand, "she'll hear worse later in life. It's fine." Cursing were just words and she didn't like trying to hide that from her daughter. She set the bowl aside once she saw Deirdre and lit up. "Poor grumpy baby. I know how it is." She rose to set a kiss on the girls cheek before sitting down again. "Julia wanted to hold her." 	Julia worried for a split second that Victor might have more of a problem with that than Kat did, but soon enough she was holding Deirdre in her lap.
