WHO: Lena, Jamie, Anthony and Thomas
WHAT: A rescue
WHEN: Friday
WHERE: Their home, demon place, their home
WARNINGS: Drug use, talk of sexual assault and the effects of abduction

Lena believed she just might pace a whole in the floor. She knew Anthony was working as hard as he could, but she wanted to know where her fiance now. Yesterday. Three or four days ago when he had apparently gone missing and somehow Lena hadn't even noticed.

Guilt and fear twisted knots in her stomach, and she hardly noticed she hadn't eaten since Sappho called. She'd been surviving on coffee and nerves. Still, she made Jamie a sandwich, because it seemed important that he eat. Then, rather unceremoniously, she sat it in front of him before looking back to Anthony to watch him working.

"We'll figure out a way to keep them from us," she said, pressing a kiss to Jamie's forehead. "Come on, we need to bandage you up. And I think Thomas could use the company until things...until things get bad." She rose, and held out a hand so she could pull him up with his good one. "I can wrap this up on the bed. I mean, if you're ready to see him?"

"Yeah, alright," Jamie agreed, pulling himself up with his good hand. "It wasn't that I couldn't be around him, I just-I didn't want to shout or make him feel like I was angry at him, or something. But I'll stay with him til things start to get shitty."

"I think he would understand," she said, walking him back towards the bedroom. When Jamie entered the room, Lena ducked out for a second to grab the first aid kit, giving father and son a chance to talk alone.

Thomas was still crying, but he sniffed hard and gestured Jamie closer with his head. "Jamie," he said sadly, "you hurt yourself."

One corner of Jamie's mouth quirked upward in a tiny, self-deprecating smile. "Nothing that won't heal," he said, sitting back down next to his father. "Sorry I just...walked out like that. Apparently I needed to have a meltdown."

Thomas reached out to pull Jamie in for a hug, burying his face in Jamie's hair. "Can't really blame you for that," Thomas said, voice still cracking a bit with emotion. He was feeling a bit like having a meltdown himself. Had he been himself he never would have done it, but with Jamie in his arms, the tears started coming thick and fast. Unable to hold himself back, he openly sobbed into Jamie's hair while he clung tightly to his son.

Lena re-entered the room, the first aid kit in her hands. When she witnessed the heartbreaking scene in front of her, however, she froze and put a hand over her mouth to try to keep her own emotion in.

Jamie held onto him with his good hand, trying not to turn into a complete, blubbering mess. For god's sake, his dad was the one who'd just been rescued from assaulted, and repeatedly shot up with heroin. But he could only quash down the way he felt for so long, it eventually had to come bubbling up to the surface, or he would have gone insane. He wasn't too sure when he'd started crying again, but he didn't really care that he had.

It was several minutes before Thomas started to calm down and he stopped hiding his face. "I'm sorry for crying on you," he said, still half crying anyway. "That's all I've been doin' for days."

Lena rubbed at her mouth and then she stepped closer, "Thomas can I ask if uhm...did that horrible demon touch you?"

"No, thank fuck," Thomas breathed, letting Jamie go so Lena could clean up his hand. "No, he just made me suck 'im off."

Lena made a face as she pulled some antiseptic out of the kit. "I want to murder him."

"I spent a good chunk of my life not only crying on you, but throwing up too," Jamie pointed out. "If you need to cry, cry. I'm really not going anywhere."

The antiseptic made him pull a face. He knew it was going to sting, but he also knew it needed to be cleaned. And he figured he deserved it for being stupid enough to punch a door.

Lena warned him before wiping at the knuckle he had split. When she had cleaned it up, she wrapped a bandage around his hand. "That okay, love?" she asked, planting a kiss on his hand.

Thomas wiped at his eyes, but Lena being so sweet with his son still made him smile lightly. "Is there more soup?" he asked, though he waited until Lena was done with Jamie. "Didn't eat enough. Then you should prob'ly go 'n lock the door. I don't feel so good."

Jamie hissed, because it stung like a bitch, but he bore it as well as he could. "It's fine, thanks Lena," he said. "I'm just glad it's not my dominant hand."

"I think so, but it might be kind of cold by now," he answered. "I can heat it up, though, if you want. If you want to try and eat a few more bites."

"I don't care if it's cold," Thomas said honestly. "I'll just drink it down. 'm tired. I might nap. Won' get much sleep soon."

Lena grabbed the bowl and helped Thomas finished off the soup. When he was done, Thomas did indeed look like he was going to pass out, so she leaned in to kiss his forehead. "I love you, Thomas. We'll be right outside, okay?"

"Mmm," Thomas nodded, inching down in the bed.

Before leaving the room, Lena ducked into the bathroom to grab Thomas' soiled clothes, and then she left Jamie to tell his father goodnight before he joined her in the kitchen.

Jamie stayed where he was as his father burrowed into the blankets. "I love you, Dad," he said, squeezing him once more. "You know that, right? We'll be here if you need anything."

He closed the door behind him, heading out to the kitchen to join Lena. He poured himself a mug of coffee, sighing heavily as he dropped into a chair. "I hate this," he said into his mug.

Thomas simply let out a soft sigh because he did know.

Lena's expression was grim as she fished through the pockets of Thomas' soiled jeans until she found the money he had referred to. A folded twenty-dollar bill had been tucked into the left front pocket. Lena crumpled it up and hurled it across the kitchen before roughly opening the small cupboard where they kept plastic bags and placing the clothes inside one of the bags. Finally, she washed her hands at the sink, scrubbing her skin harder than she probably needed to.

When she finally collapsed into a chair beside Jamie, she was fighting back tears again. "Me too," she finally said. "It feels like...it should be a relief he's home, but we can't breathe just yet."

"We're burning all that shit, right?" Jamie asked, his eyes having followed the crumpled bill to its resting place on the floor. "Because I will bring the gasoline."

"Right?" he said. "Like...the eye of the storm, or whatever. It seems like there's a lull, but you know shit's only about to get worse. It's fucking awful."

"I figured we'd wait until your father can join in the festivities and burn it in a bin in the back yard," she said flatly.

"I suppose we should use the eye of the storm. You could call your family and let them know he's safe, though I have no idea what to tell them about what he went through. And I'll fill up a few water bottles for him and get a puke bin so hopefully it doesn't end up everywhere. Then we should maybe eat something. Watch silly movies. Anything."

"I like this plan," Jamie said dully. "Burn it til there's nothing left."

"I'll do that," he replied. "We can use that time to figure what to tell them, because there's really no good explanation."

"We should probably eat, but I don't really have much of an appetite, you know?" he said, drinking more of his coffee. "Though last time I put off eating because I was stressed, I didn't eat for a day. Which was a bad idea."

"I'll make you something easy to get down," Lena said gently. "You can make sure I eat something too. We'll get through this. It's going to be okay."
