Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood:stressed
Entry tags:ariadne, theseus

Who: Theseus and Ariadne
What: Being friends and Theseus needs help with his new granddaughter and how to keep her away from Sins.
When: Friday night [Backdated]
Where: Naxos

Dionysus was becoming less and less of a threat for Theseus, as Theseus had decided to stick around even longer so disturbed wine gods didn't really make him run and hide. Besides, by the time Poseidon came back, Theseus would have snatched his job right out from under him. If anything Theseus was letting his pride get ahead of him. It might burn later, but he had to be strong if he was going to be a father-figure.

He still had not a clue about what to do. There was one person he felt he could talk to now and not be judged with a pointed finger. He stepped into Naxos with his business suit on. If anything Dionysus should be careful Theseus didn't snuff his wife out from under him.

"Really?" She raised an eyebrow. "Because leaving a woman that has no knowledge of gathering food, or fishing, on an island is not signing her death warrant? You could not know I would be saved."

She crossed her arms, "I was more upset about the baby." She didn't know if she'd ever told him, but he deserved to know now. "but we both lived. Me and your son." She shrugged. "You can, or you wouldn't be here, asking my advice. Don't smother her Theseus. Let her figure it out on her own."

He hissed through his teeth when she brought that up, squinting with a shake of his hand in the air. "Well, there was that..." So his timing had been horrible, yes. "I figured someone would come looking for you..." it didn't sound any better than it did in his head. He'd have to give her that one.

Then he just did a double take snapped back to reality. "Wait what?" It was one time! One time! Had he knocked her up in just a few hours?

She raised an eyebrow. "I exiled myself from my country and my family. You knew what it would do to me when I handed you the ball of yarn Theseus. You knew that was treason. My father wouldn't have searched for me, because to him I no longer belonged to him. I was fortunate Dionysus saw me before I starved."

She calmly crossed her arms. "My line is very fertile. I had many siblings, and my mother comes from a Titan. I discovered it during the trip, thus why I wished for air. The voyage was making me far sicker then I needed to be." She sighed, "For a while, I thought it was why you had abandoned me. That, somehow, you'd figured it out and you didn't want that. He was a sweet boy though." She smiled, "grew to be a king in his own right. I raised him on Olympus, and taught him what little I knew of you."

"You make a point..." he rubbed his scruffy chin as he put all that into perspective. It wouldn't have changed what he did then, but when applied to his now granddaughter, he didn't want her doing the same. "I guess I just had high hopes. Seems fate proved me right?" It was a stretch, a BIG stretch.

The whole baby thing though threw him completely off guard. Like he should have been told a million years ago. He was kind of insulted but wasn't like he ran into her again (except maybe when he decided to swoop in and steal her sister---but by then the burn had healed over for her). "I never thought you were pregnant." She had kind of blown his mind, though it wouldn't have changed his mind had she told him then.

She relaxed. She hadn't meant to throw all this on him, but it would have gotten out eventually. "I figured it out. I saw my mother pregnant enough to know what the signs were. "I named him Staphylos." She smiled, "you should be proud. Legend has it he sailed with Jason." She'd been proud of all her boys, despite the mistakes they'd made.

"I don't doubt it wasn't fate you left me Theseus. I was your guide to the labyrinth. No more. I accept that now."

He poked his lip out in thought and a nod of his head. " Good to know I left you with something memorable." There wasn't much he could do about it now. Shaking his empty wine glass. " Did you have any girls?" He want sure how to work then when they weren't a woman he wa chasing after.

She gave a soft smile, "you did." she took the glass and went to fill it again. "No. Only boys for me. I've been trying to get pregnant again, hoping for a girl this time, but no luck so far." she shrugged, she wasn't too bothered by it. "and if I did do you honestly think the first thing I would have taught them wouldn't be, don't trust pirates?"

"I was hoping you'd tell me girls were easier." He was uncomfortable. Zoe's mother was his first daughter in a long line of boys and he'd left her and her mother. Zoe was perhaps his redemption but he had no idea what to do to associate with her. " Its been a long time since I had a kid to take care of, and she's grown." Until they betrayed him as his one s on had done with Phaedra. He still had an aversion to getting close to his children since thst, but Zoe was the first he'd actually grown attached to, which had everything you do with not running.

"Sorry," she held up her hands and smiled. "Can't be of any help there." She shrugged, "my advice is still to let her make her own mistakes. I did that with my own boys and they turned out alright. You can't hover over them."

"Do you ever get used to this?" he tapped his glass with his fingers, making a drumming sound as his thoughts wrapped up into one giant bundle. "The worry?" He could see his reflection from the side. He needed to shave, the five o'clock shadow was starting to turn into more than the rustic look. He'd have a beard if he continued at this rate.

Smiling she set her hand over his, purely in a friendly fashion. "sorry. No. You never get used to it. children are pieces of your heart that walk around. And it kills when they get hurt. But you can't stop it."

"Well, that's unfortunate. I hadn't planned on any of that." He hadn't had a heart to give to anyone since the day he'd lost both his son and Phaedra. It was the only place his heart had taken a breather and gotten attached before he just let all strings be cut and let loose. He'd formed loose attachments before, Zoe's grandmother being one, but everything else had been just for him to pass through. Sometimes this life felt redundant. He was always looking for a place to rest, but once he did he got scared and wanted nothing more to do with it. He had to keep moving.
