Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:ariadne, theseus

Who: Ariadne and Theseus
What: Drinks
When: Thursday, around 6pm
Where: Diogenes Club
Warnings: TBA

Despite Dionysus being dramatic about it, she was determined to keep Theseus as a friend. She didn't know why or when Dionysus had gotten it in his head that Theseus was there to seduce her away, but it was aggravating. In her opinion, her husband had no reason to keep grudges. Then again, most Olympians never had any good reasons to hold grudges, they just did it anyway.

So she'd gone to the Diogenes Club, knowing it was a safe environment for immortals to meet, plus she liked the atmosphere. She figured that, technically, this was her competition but she was never the competitive sort. She found herself a booth and settled down to wait for Theseus.

It made her frown but she just shook her head and ordered herself something non alcoholic. She had no desire to let her mind get fuzzy. "Seems you're doing better." In a way she was just kicking at Dionysus herself. He needed to stop trying to control her.

He could tell she needed a break from their own bubbles. It was nice not to be the only one. To feel like he had control again. He ordered his drink right behind her, taking a moment before he drank down the first swallow. Last time he'd lost his head.

"Escaping your cage then?" He was teasing her with that smirky grin.

She rolled her eyes and accepted her own drink. "I don't exist in a cage, and my husband should get to terms with that." She sighed, "plus the whole Olympians with grudges gets a little tiring. So I'm going to enjoy myself. Smiling she set her glass down. "And I like this place. It lets me relax. I'd be too busy worrying about customers at Naxos."

"He's held on to that one for a long time." Theseus didn't hold grudges, he usually dealt with things on the spot. He did have a growing dislike for his father and that was something he didn't want to hang onto. He'd become like Poseidon if he let anger lead him by the nose. So he tried to just do what he always did and breeze by. The longer he stayed here though, the more attached he became. "Well, I do like seeing you outside of Dionysus' hallucinogenic haze. You look better this way." His vision had been spotty among other things.

"I don't understand it. Not anymore." She'd been angry at Theseus herself, but that had faded. Hating someone was tiring, and she much rather focus her energies on more productive things. "There's tales he was the one who told you to leave me behind you know. He didn't address that bit." She smirked, "And thank you."

"I guess its an Olympian thing." He swirled his drink around watching her talk. He hadn't just sat down for a chat in a long time. "Are there? I thought I just imagined that." The Greeks were nuts when it came to fifty ways to tell a single story. It was hard to know which end was up. "I guess if I had anyone on my side its a good thing its one of you." He hadn't even seen Phaedra in a long time. He'd fallen pretty hard himself over that sister.

"I'm not an Olympian." She wasn't, not technically. She was an Olympian's wife, yes, but she'd never held a title or a throne. But then she'd never wanted that, either. "But I am your friend yes. And there are tales. Either way I do get left behind and die. I never asked because I don't want to know. He just ignores those parts because he lacks self confidence."

"You aren't, but he is and he's a lot like my father in how they set out their revenge." One would think they would set their sights on bigger subjects. Instead they liked acting out their grievances on everyone else. Theseus couldn't help but snort into his drink. "He lacks self confidence? A god?" If only Theseus had been so lucky with such a title.

Dionysus would probably not be pleased she was sharing this, but he could live with it. "He's like us Theseus. Like you." She sighed and then shook her head. "Half mortal. The only one to take a seat on the Twelve. Not even Heracles managed that." she looked down to her drink, "and after Hera drove him mad, he questions himself. Of course then he goes and acts like her. It's very frustrating."

"Ah, that's right." He clasped his hands together on the table. In hearing what little bit he could on Dionysus' weakness, Theseus took this as opportunity. "How long did it take him to get you?" If they were going to be 'friends', then there were some things to learn. Maybe it could help him keep Dionysus off his back. Befriending Ariadne was not going to settle an Olympians insecurities.
