Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood: chipper
Entry tags:clio, joseph van der berg

WHO: Clio and Joey van der Berg
WHAT: Hanging out and being adorable
WHEN: Monday
WHERE: Clio's house and then shopping

Joey was in a cheerful mood when he arrived at Patrick and Clio's house. It was his day off (his workplace in coordination with his shrink insisted he take a day off every two weeks for his mental health and who was he to deny them?) and he was going to spend it with Clio. He had met the muse through his best friend Patrick, and he adored her. They had gotten closer after she had helped him in the wake of his time with Lucifer. Having been through something so similar and so distinct from what most people experience, had really been a bonding point.

He grinned when she opened the door and then he bounced a little, proving why he and Patrick were so suited to being besties. "Hi! I've come to kidnap you!"

"It's true," he nodded. "Travelling with a baby is difficult." He wanted to ask where she was going, but the bell of the shop rang, and Charles caught sight of Joey.

"Joseph, what a delight!" he said, rushing over to them. "You look well!"

Joey chuckled, because Charles was incredibly endearing. "Thank you, Charles, so do you! This is my friend Clio!" He didn't know if they'd met so he thought he should introduce her just in case.

She grinned to Charles and offered her hand. "I know of you, but I've never met you. Keep wanting to. Your shop is pretty amazing. I'm glad I have other plans or I'd just move in here."

Charles chuckled and he gladly shook her hand as well. "Jacob speaks about you often," he said, assuming she was the same Clio. He was sure she would correct him if not. "It's an absolute pleasure to finally meet you. And thank you very much, I am fond of the shop as well. Was there anything in particular you were looking for?"

Joey, meanwhile, became utterly fascinated by a taxidermy, two-headed sheep.

She grinned to that, "I'm sure he does, although I'm guessing most of it is in conjunction with Ella." She glanced at Joey and shook her head before smiling at Charles. "I'm looking for musical instruments. Something old and obscure. The older and rarer the better."

"He does talk about Ella rather a lot," Charles conceded. "But she's a beautiful child, so why wouldn't he?" Charles had a soft-spot for children and Ella was no exception. He loved playing with her.

"Oh! Yes, I have several!" he said, getting excited. "I have something called a serpent which is a horn thing but has features of being a woodwind as well. I have a roller organ, and a small, ornate piano, except I wouldn't recommend playing it. Though...if I'm correct in assuming this is for Saint Patrick, and I do apologise if it's not, I have a very rare and very old set of Irish Uilleann Pipes. They still play beautifully. They're not as obscure as some of the other things, but they're quite beautiful."

She could see herself really liking Charles. If anything she'd probably haunt his store more now. "I'm biased but I do agree. She is lovely."

She listened and nodded. "If I could see the pipes and the organ. I'd look at the piano, but with a tiny child I'm afraid it may get hurt. And yes, it is for him." She gave a soft smile, "anniversary so I'm surprising him."

"Playing with Ella makes me want to have a child," Charles admitted as he beckoned Clio towards the store room where he kept the more fragile things. "I've never had any of my own, but maybe one day. Here we are! There's probably lots of things back here you would love," he said, gesturing to a wall of old books which hadn't been rotated to the front of the shop yet.

"Oooh, creepy dolls!" Joey cried out, heading towards them to see if he could find one to get Florian.

Charles chuckled and then he pulled out the organ first. "Here's the roller organ. It's quite beautiful. Oh right! I have an antique Hurdy Gurdy as well. Now there's an obscure instrument," he laughed. "It looks kind of like a violin but you play it with a crank."

"She does have that habit," she offered with a smile. "And they are a joy. But again, biased." She made a little sound of like at the sight of all the books and reminded herself she did need to come home. "I may just live here."

She smirked at Joey's comment before looking at the organ. "It is and I think he'd enjoy that one. Maybe those three will make for something unique. Would I be able to keep them here? I want to really surprise him."

Charles smiled kindly and said, "well you are welcome any time, of course. If you want to stop by after hours I can provide a key," he added. He figured she was trustworthy and he felt like history was to be shared.

"You can absolutely keep them here! I'll put them on a shelf so we know not to sell them. Congratulations on your anniversary, by the way! That's wonderful."

"That would be lovely. Me and books get along rather well" A bit of an understatement, really. And it wasn't like she would steal anything either.

"Thank you. I happen to agree. And I'll take them then. Is check okay?"

"I wouldn't mind if you borrowed a few of the books either if you didn't want to buy them but just wanted to read them," he added. Charles really did like to make people happy.

"A check is fine and you can pay now or later. Just let me know when you want to come pick them all up."

Joseph selected a creepy doll and he held it up, "this isn't haunted is it, because that's not something I want to give to a friend."

Charles chuckled and he shook his head. "As far as I know, it's just old and missing an eye. No ghosts."

"I would love that actually. And the same goes for you. I may have a lot of things you could enjoy." Nodding she took out her checkbook. "Now's fine. That way I'm not tempted to buy the entire store at a later date."

She smirked at Joey, "I know someone who could double check that if you wanted."

Charles nodded and then he named a price that he knew was rather steep, though it was actually less than he would have quoted for someone who wasn't the Muse of history. He found her delightful already.

Joey looked impressed and he chuckled. "Yeah, sure! Florian will love this and he'll probably put it in an exhibition because he does that. But not giving him a haunting at the same time would be for the best."

She was fortunate she had money set aside. Most of it had been transferred for Ella and Mairead, but she had enough where it wasn't a problem. It was an advantage of living so long. She wrote out the check and handed it to him. "Thanks."

She smiled to Joey, "well two people. Hermes or Hecate. The latter may be a bit better, considering. But yes no haunted objects are nice."

"No, thank you," Charles said with a wide smile.

Joseph put the doll on the counter and got ready to pay. "Well, I'd appreciate it from either of them. And thanks, Charles!"

"Oh, it's my pleasure," Charles waved the thanks away.

She waited for Joey to finish, glad she'd gotten this done. "Any place else you'd like to go, or would you like some food?"

"Oooh, food!" he said, heading back to the car. Even though he had finally gained all his weight back, he was still a scrawny thing. "Always food. Anything in mind?"

"Your choice," she wasn't truly picky and honestly she kept wanting to feed Joey either way. "And my treat."
