Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood: chipper
Entry tags:clio, joseph van der berg

WHO: Clio and Joey van der Berg
WHAT: Hanging out and being adorable
WHEN: Monday
WHERE: Clio's house and then shopping

Joey was in a cheerful mood when he arrived at Patrick and Clio's house. It was his day off (his workplace in coordination with his shrink insisted he take a day off every two weeks for his mental health and who was he to deny them?) and he was going to spend it with Clio. He had met the muse through his best friend Patrick, and he adored her. They had gotten closer after she had helped him in the wake of his time with Lucifer. Having been through something so similar and so distinct from what most people experience, had really been a bonding point.

He grinned when she opened the door and then he bounced a little, proving why he and Patrick were so suited to being besties. "Hi! I've come to kidnap you!"

She was always pleased to see Joey. Knowing he was doing so well made her happy. He had a lot of strength to him that she truly admired. So she grinned when she saw him, "At least you tell me." She took a moment to collect her coat and put her shoes on before moving outside.

"So, any place we should stop at first?" Joey had known Patrick longer and would know what Patrick would appreciate. And she'd never had an anniversary before, not like this, she wanted to make it special.

"It's true, I'm a nice kidnapper. And I return you at the end of the day," he nodded sagely. "I was thinking...I mean, I don't know what kind of present you're going for and I assume you have the...slinky underwears covered," he said with a giggle. "But he really likes obscure musical instruments. We could hit up a few antique stores maybe?" He was pretty sure for Clio, antique shops were like crack anyway.

"Oh, and Lewis Carroll has an oddities shop and he might have some cool things there!"

Chuckling she went to set her arm through his. "Which is good. Ella's with her dad but I still got to figure out dinner." She smirked, "and yes slinky things are covered."

"We can do that. I've always meant to go to that store. And it sounds like a good plan. Thank you."

"Is watching saints in the kitchen kind of like watching a train wreck?" he asked, amused.

"Should we try Lewis Carroll's shop first then? I've met him a few times. He's dating one of Lena's close friends and he's really nice. And it's probably good we're both taken because I would have hit on him so hard!"

She laughed to that, "no, Patrick's pretty good but I like fussing. And with me working from home it's easier. Besides I promised you dinner and you should meet Mairead."

"Speaking of which I would like to meet your other half. It involves a nice dinner and me clucking. It's getting worse the closer I get to Ella's birthday. She's going to be grown up one day, and I'll wonder where the time went."

"Ooh, yes!" he said excitedly. He loved everyone, and Mairead sounded awesome.

"You should, yes! Nikkie is so great. We haven't...slept together yet though," he explained as he led her to Xavier's car. It was fortuitous that Xavier hardly ever used it, considering how he was usually in an altered state. "I'm...working up to it," he said, flapping his hands around. "But you can still cluck! Ella's going to be a wonderful grown up."

"I sure hope so," she was still worried, but she'd kept her daughter safe so far. She smiled at him, "don't let anyone tell you to rush. It's not always a good thing. Take the time you need." She knew it would take time. Even she hadn't fully healed just yet either.

"In the meantime, cuddles are great things. And I do love clucking. I should have been the Muse of it."

"Nikkie, thankfully, is being awesome about it," he said, holding the door open for her.

Once in the car, he started the engine and nodded. "Cuddles are awesome. I'd imagine the Muse of clucking might have a lot more kids though..."

She grinned as she got in and buckled up, "See you're only making me more curious. It's so good seeing you happy though. You deserve it."

She gave a chuckle, "probably. Which would be a bit terrifying, considering how good Greeks are at having babies. And I'm terribly overdue for twins." She sighed, "but not now I think. It wouldn't be very fair to Patrick, although he makes a really amazing father figure for both Ella and Mairead. But I like having him to myself too."

Joey was an open person and when she mentioned she was curious he asked, curious about what?" He honestly didn't think there was much he wouldn't tell her. But there wasn't much he wouldn't tell anyone.

"I think Patrick would be adorable as a dad," Joey admitted. "Have you talked to him about it? I mean for in the future. Because he seems like the type to sort of...not realise he could actually have kids. I don't mean biologically, I just mean like...it might blow his mind but in the good way."

"About your lady friend. Don't worry I won't pry until later. Then we can gossip." She smirked.

"Not directly. Even before I mentioned he'd be a great dad, and I've pointed that out to him when he's with Ella or Mairead. But you could be right and he may not be making the connection. I'll bring it up, because things can happen."

Joey chuckled, but he hoped she knew she could ask anything. "Well you're welcome to pry any time."

As they wound their way towards Charles' shop, Joey smiled. "I mean, he's a smart guy but he's also a saint and who knows what kind of weird information blocks are in there," he joked. "And he's also a bit self-deprecating so maybe he never thought he would be a good father so it hasn't occurred to him."

"Oh I know and I will pry. A lot." She grinned, "but I'm assuming you know that there's much more to do then just sex. You can work up to that."

"Unconsciously that could be the case. He's gotten so far, but I'm sure some things are just there." She gave a soft smile, "but little tiny saint/muse babies would be nice."

Joey laughed at that, "pretty well aware," he grinned. "And we're definitely working up to it. It's strange because after I was taken, I was able to sleep with Lena. We slept together casually lots of times until she got her boyfriend, who is adorable by the way. But I'd been with her before so it seemed less...scary. And I trusted her completely, not that I don't trust Nikkie. It's all just...it a work in progress," he finished up.

"You and Patrick would seriously have the cutest babies," he added with a wicked grin as he pulled up outside the shop. "I mean...oh my god."

"No I get it. I didn't have sex with anyone for a long time either. But I was pregnant and had a different circumstance. I just focused on Ella a lot. Plus I was trying to get over Patrick at that point." She smiled at him. "You know Lena longer. You're just getting to know Nikkie. Takes time."

She laughed, "oh stop before you send everything into overdrive. But he wants to focus on his music, and he should be selfish for a little. He doesn't do it a lot. Silly Saint." Smiling she got out of the car then.

"I've been focusing on my job, which is really great," he admitted. "And Nikkie and I will get there if it's meant to be." He was pretty relaxed about it.

He stood from the car and locked it before grinning at her. He headed in but not before saying, "I know he's like the least selfish person ever. He could probably concentrate on music and be a dad, though. I mean...I'm not like 'yeah make 80 babies right now to hell with anything else' or anything. Because I understand wanting him to yourself too. But I mean...I don't know. Are you just holding off then for his sake, because his opinion might be different."

"Don't mind me rooting from the sidelines then. Like I said it's nice to see you happy. That alone is plenty to me." She studied the building before turning to her friend, "Oh I know. I just have to tell him too."

"Don't joke. My mother had nine of us in as many days. It's quite possibly a thing. And a bit. I'm still getting used to the fact that we're together after all. And I need to travel soon. I can't do that with a baby in tow."

"It's true," he nodded. "Travelling with a baby is difficult." He wanted to ask where she was going, but the bell of the shop rang, and Charles caught sight of Joey.

"Joseph, what a delight!" he said, rushing over to them. "You look well!"

Joey chuckled, because Charles was incredibly endearing. "Thank you, Charles, so do you! This is my friend Clio!" He didn't know if they'd met so he thought he should introduce her just in case.

Charles chuckled and he gladly shook her hand as well. "Jacob speaks about you often," he said, assuming she was the same Clio. He was sure she would correct him if not. "It's an absolute pleasure to finally meet you. And thank you very much, I am fond of the shop as well. Was there anything in particular you were looking for?"

Joey, meanwhile, became utterly fascinated by a taxidermy, two-headed sheep.

She grinned to that, "I'm sure he does, although I'm guessing most of it is in conjunction with Ella." She glanced at Joey and shook her head before smiling at Charles. "I'm looking for musical instruments. Something old and obscure. The older and rarer the better."

"He does talk about Ella rather a lot," Charles conceded. "But she's a beautiful child, so why wouldn't he?" Charles had a soft-spot for children and Ella was no exception. He loved playing with her.

"Oh! Yes, I have several!" he said, getting excited. "I have something called a serpent which is a horn thing but has features of being a woodwind as well. I have a roller organ, and a small, ornate piano, except I wouldn't recommend playing it. Though...if I'm correct in assuming this is for Saint Patrick, and I do apologise if it's not, I have a very rare and very old set of Irish Uilleann Pipes. They still play beautifully. They're not as obscure as some of the other things, but they're quite beautiful."

She could see herself really liking Charles. If anything she'd probably haunt his store more now. "I'm biased but I do agree. She is lovely."

She listened and nodded. "If I could see the pipes and the organ. I'd look at the piano, but with a tiny child I'm afraid it may get hurt. And yes, it is for him." She gave a soft smile, "anniversary so I'm surprising him."

"Playing with Ella makes me want to have a child," Charles admitted as he beckoned Clio towards the store room where he kept the more fragile things. "I've never had any of my own, but maybe one day. Here we are! There's probably lots of things back here you would love," he said, gesturing to a wall of old books which hadn't been rotated to the front of the shop yet.

"Oooh, creepy dolls!" Joey cried out, heading towards them to see if he could find one to get Florian.

Charles chuckled and then he pulled out the organ first. "Here's the roller organ. It's quite beautiful. Oh right! I have an antique Hurdy Gurdy as well. Now there's an obscure instrument," he laughed. "It looks kind of like a violin but you play it with a crank."

"She does have that habit," she offered with a smile. "And they are a joy. But again, biased." She made a little sound of like at the sight of all the books and reminded herself she did need to come home. "I may just live here."

She smirked at Joey's comment before looking at the organ. "It is and I think he'd enjoy that one. Maybe those three will make for something unique. Would I be able to keep them here? I want to really surprise him."

Charles smiled kindly and said, "well you are welcome any time, of course. If you want to stop by after hours I can provide a key," he added. He figured she was trustworthy and he felt like history was to be shared.

"You can absolutely keep them here! I'll put them on a shelf so we know not to sell them. Congratulations on your anniversary, by the way! That's wonderful."

"That would be lovely. Me and books get along rather well" A bit of an understatement, really. And it wasn't like she would steal anything either.

"Thank you. I happen to agree. And I'll take them then. Is check okay?"

"I wouldn't mind if you borrowed a few of the books either if you didn't want to buy them but just wanted to read them," he added. Charles really did like to make people happy.

"A check is fine and you can pay now or later. Just let me know when you want to come pick them all up."

Joseph selected a creepy doll and he held it up, "this isn't haunted is it, because that's not something I want to give to a friend."

Charles chuckled and he shook his head. "As far as I know, it's just old and missing an eye. No ghosts."

"I would love that actually. And the same goes for you. I may have a lot of things you could enjoy." Nodding she took out her checkbook. "Now's fine. That way I'm not tempted to buy the entire store at a later date."

She smirked at Joey, "I know someone who could double check that if you wanted."

Charles nodded and then he named a price that he knew was rather steep, though it was actually less than he would have quoted for someone who wasn't the Muse of history. He found her delightful already.

Joey looked impressed and he chuckled. "Yeah, sure! Florian will love this and he'll probably put it in an exhibition because he does that. But not giving him a haunting at the same time would be for the best."

She was fortunate she had money set aside. Most of it had been transferred for Ella and Mairead, but she had enough where it wasn't a problem. It was an advantage of living so long. She wrote out the check and handed it to him. "Thanks."

She smiled to Joey, "well two people. Hermes or Hecate. The latter may be a bit better, considering. But yes no haunted objects are nice."

"Oh, it's my pleasure," Charles waved the thanks away.
