Kat was half nervous and half looking forward to this. Victor's in laws (or former in laws, she wasn't sure how that worked) seemed very important to him, and she figured it was one of those stages to go through in a relationship. Talking to people wasn't always hard, but she also wasn't sure how they would take her. But that was beyond her control, so that she wasn't worried about.

She figured that she should probably ask her mother to do a dinner for Victor, even though she knew Erica had met him already. She filed it away before she knocked on the door. It was cold out, but thankfully she didn't need to wait long because soon the door was opened by a rather pretty lady.

"Hi," Kat smiled and it was returned and the older woman easily let her inside. Kat could figure this was one of the two people Victor had mentioned and in between getting her coat off she'd learned this was Rosalind (or Rose). Once she had her coat off she'd asked Rose if Victor was still being the worst patient ever, which had earned a laugh from Rose.

"Best nickname." She dropped her hand and walked over to Victor, leaning down to give him a kiss. "Yes, cookies for you." Her tone was teasing and she straightened to look at Rose, "need any help? Otherwise I'll keep mister bad patient company here?"

Rose smiled but shook her head. She could manage with Aislinn and she felt the two looked cute together. Kat smiled and went to sit next to Victor. "How are you managing?"

	Victor reached out for her hand and he gave it a squeeze. "Less pain today which means I can take fewer pain killers. Makes me feel less addled." He leaned over to kiss her cheek. 	"Good, see what a bit of relaxing does?" She smiled to the kiss and hardly minded keeping him company. She'd let some of her nerves go. It seemed to go well. Victor wasn't just smiling, he was beaming. Rose had given him a look of first impression approval and it made him feel all warm inside. The fact that Kat even wanted to meet his family meant that this really was something. Even despite being shot and traumatised, his heart felt lighter than it had in years.

"Yes yes," he said with a laugh. "You should tell Rose what you threatened me with. She'll love it."

She smirked, "totally translating that as 'Kat is always right." She felt bad for not helping, but too many people in a kitchen could make it a lot more cluttery then it needed to be.

Rose raised an eyebrow at her name and set the salad on the table. "Oh?" Rose asked and Kat gave half a smile, "told him if he liked getting kissed he'd behave and actually heal instead of trying to do everything. I figure fight worst patient with fire and all." Rose had to laugh to that and shook her head, "You're right," Rose said, "I do love it. I like her Vicky. Knows how to deal with your brand of stubbornness."

	Victor laughed, willing to let her translate it any way she wanted to. "She does, which is pretty impressive," he added. The oven dinged and Aislinn went to fetch the ziti. "Dinner! You'll love it, Kat! Rose's mother is a kitchen wizard." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Rose smiled and went to help Aislinn as Kat rose. "I'm sure I will. Sure smells pretty tasty." She gave Victor a look, "need a hand there? Despite her fussing that she wanted him to get well, she also understood he knew his body and if he didn't need the hand she wouldn't push for it.

"So what do you guys do?" She looked to Rose and Aislinn, "I'm a translator." Kat raised an eyebrow at that, wondering if Rose knew her mother, but then looked to Aislinn.

"I worked at the aquarium on Coney Island until it was flooded by Hurricane Sandy. So while they fix it up, I spend some time with the animals there, and I take care of the sea lions in Central Park zoo. You should come by some time!"

Victor accepted the hand, standing painfully. Then he walked to the table and sat, just as painfully. Moving around was no fun. "To be honest, I am loving the opportunity to move as little as possible," he said once he was settled. "You should see me trying to take a shower." Then he flushed bright red. "Wow did that come out wrong."

She sat beside Victor as Rose took a seat next to Aislinn. "I will once it stops being so frigging cold out. But I do like seals. Do they let you pet them and stuff?" She figured that would be a cool job to get to pet a seal.

Then she laughed at Victor's comment, "sounded better in your head I take it. I get the meaning though. I can't relate, I mean I had a brace once and that was an ass to get around but it's still different."

Aislinn gave Rose a secret little smile and then she nodded. "Yes, the seals and the sea lions are very affectionate. If you visit when it gets warmer you can pet one too. Most people don't realise their coat is made of fur so they feel soft."

Victor grinned at Kat and he leaned in to kiss her shoulder. "It did sound better in my head, yes. But that is exactly what I meant. I will be relieved when it's all healed."

Rose just smirked in return, "yes they come right up to you and everything. Almost crawl into your lap." She grinned at her girlfriend, but Kat was missing it. "That sounds kind of adorable. I look forward to petting one."

She patted Victor's shoulder then, "I installed a brain to mouth filter. Smartest thing I've ever done. And patience. Can't rush through this. Which reminds me, if you give me that money I'll pick those consoles up and drop them off tomorrow? I run past here to work anyway."

Aislinn beamed at Kat before digging into her dinner. Anyone who showed interest in her kind was automatically awesome if you asked Aislinn. As long as the interest wasn't to make a coat with their fur.

Victor laughed and then he shrugged. "I'll try to get one fitted. And that sounds great, I'll grab the money after dinner. My wallet is all the way in my room on the dresser." To Rose and Aislinn he said, "I am learning how to play video games. I will be caught up with the modern days in no time."

	"Considering he didn't even know what Super Smash Brothers was, it'll take a moment." Kat grinned at him and Rose just shook her head, "Even I know what that is Victor," Rose said with a smile. Victor laughed at Rose and he shook his head. "Yes, but you're younger than I am, Rose. At my age we talk about health problems and bad backs." He actually didn't, but it amused him nonetheless. "Now I'm going to go into work in a few weeks and dazzle them with my new knowledge. I'm almost sure they will be dazzled. They will want to know who the magical Smash Brothers are too. And knowledge will spread."

	Rose just raised an eyebrow, and almost the same time Kat asked "Would you like your cane and to tell us all to get off the lawn?" It made Rose laugh. 	She chuckled, "Now a bad time to say I suck at responsibility?" She glanced up at Aislinn's question. "I'm majoring in Computer Science and I got a minor in Linguistics. And it's going pretty good. Got my GPA to a 3.5 and hoping to get it at a 4.0 before I graduate so we'll see how it goes." Rose looked suitably impressed. "Congratulations." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Victor smiled to himself and he went to grab for his glass of grape juice. Instead of gripping it, he knocked it sideways and when he quickly reached to right it, his stitches pulled. "Argh," he hissed, his hand going to his wound. He took a few deep breaths to deal with the sharp pain and then he shook his head before stating what everyone else was clearly already aware of. "I- I made a mess."

The juice was dripping onto his carpet and he turned his head to glanced at it while he dabbed at the pool on the table with his napkin. That was so going to stain.

	She gave Victor a frown, "you alright?" Rose had already gotten up and gotten some napkins. Kat rose too and took a few, going to clean some of the mess up. She hoped if she got it quick enough it wouldn't stain too badly. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
