Notes: Putting this up now as tomorrow starts my lovely long week of work...

The police had been on the lookout for the missing little girl, but with the mother in hysterics it was hard to know where to begin an investigation. They had her picture up on watch, but without a solid story from the mother it was a losing case. Greed hadn't returned it, it was his bargaining chip at getting to see Zoe without suspicion. It didn't mean he hadn't left a trail of discord. Whenever he plucked living things from their usual environment his bread crumbs were invisible, but the damage was solid. In little over a week the husband of the scatterbrained mother had moved out, split their bank accounts and had started to believe that his wife had drug their child off to die. There was hardly any one that believed otherwise. Even her fellow church goers had started to doubt her credibility.

Meanwhile Greed had dragged the kid home like a lost puppy, much to Lust's dismay. As long as her darling boy was happy, bouncy even and kept his mind off the mortal girl who had drug him into a ruin of 'feelings' she had become lax on the baby toy. As far as Greed knew she had no idea that his 'nanny' was in fact the girl he'd spilled about. He lied to her every day Zoe left, but was starting to lose the restraint on the glow he had whenever the girl came to the door. Eventually, Lust would find out. Eventually, Zoe would learn of Lust and what her role really was for Greed, but for now he was suiting himself up for a date.

Ava was not devoid of pretty and expensive clothes. Her yellow dress was a striking contrast against Greed's suit and glasses. Under the expensive outerwear no one would even think to look for the little girl.

He may not be able to hold Zoe's hand or smooch on her in public, but it was getting to venture out without suspicion that he was eating up. He bounced Ava on his arm for a time before he grew tired and threw her to Zoe. No one would ever suspect that he was a deadly sin, she his girlfriend or that they both strolled down the street with a stolen baby.

	Zoe lifted her hands in an innocent gesture of defense to Satan, "Wouldn't dream of it." she stayed put where she was, not even looking at Greed. They were playing his game now and she had no idea what the rules were. All she could do for the moment was breathe and hope to keep doing it. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"You called out the thunder when you started to say we were your toys." Greed gave Satan the shake of his head. "I'm not a pet, I'm an idea," his one arm waved out as if basking in his own head. "You took Wrath." He was throwing it back at Satan that that had been an obvious move on their part. "Do you really want us all against you? We work with you. But we are our own entities." Greed was getting ahead of himself because he felt so strongly on the idea even if he used people and things as his toys. Baby Ava was a prime example. Then again, baby Ava was not as close to him as the fake nanny standing off to the side. If Satan really wanted to hurt Greed he'd go for grabbing him by the balls. That meant Zoe or that meant Lust. It also meant Glutt. If he went for either of his excess sins, they were sure to feel the burn of the other.

	Satan laughed. "Hardly. What would be the point, since you'll just pop back up again? No, I think something more lasting is in order. Of course, I suppose a bullet to the head is pretty lasting for a human." She leaned forward towards Ava as she said it, but her eyes drifted towards Zoe. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

The baby started to whine pulling away from Satan. "Oh come on," Greed showed complete calmness but he was furious inside. "What's the fun in killing humans?" Ava curled her hand around Greed's finger, "You can't play with them after that. Then its just like fucking a rag doll." He huffed a little puff of air. "Gross."

He did take a step that time towards Zoe as if he were about to hand over the kid."

Greed handed Ava to Zoe. Satan wasn't going to intimidate him, but he was still in command. Whether Greed didn't want to be under his thumb or not. "Ohhh," Greed clapped his hands joyfully. "Do I get party favors? Or balloons, I love balloons. And cake. Don't forget the cake. Sounds like it's going to be one blast of a party. I look forward to it." He wasn't going to go down cowering in fear, Greed didn't work like that.

	"I know I'm looking forward to it, too," Satan said, leaning forward to pat Greed on the head. She turned to Zoe. "It was lovely to meet you, nameless human associate of Greed. Your death will be horrifying." And with that, Satan was gone, only the faint smell of fire and sulfur to mark her disappearance. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Zoe held Ava to her, a hand on the back of the baby's head protectively as she watched the exchange between Greed and Satan. Greed seemed to act like it was no big deal but this was freakin' THE DEVIL, she was shocked she was so calm. Well, shocked might be the right word since that's probably why she was so calm. She was in shock. Or losing her mind. Please please please be just be going insane.

She didn't say anything when Satan delivered her perky threat but as soon as the blonde poofed, Zoe let go of a breath she didn't know she'd been holding as her knees buckled. She didn't know if she was going to pass out or be sick.

He gave Satan a thumbs up, two to he exact and a grin. Whatever they had coming his way, he wasn't about to let them get theory hands on what belonged to him. Even of it meant shipping Zoe overseas for some time.

He turned to catch her arm just before her legs gave out. "No passing out on me..." He wrapped both arms around her to steady the poor girl. She was about to panic now, he knew it and he couldn't let her. His big plan had backfired on him...he may have to swing I.to his contingency plan if this got ugly.

Zoe shook like a leaf in his arms, they were pretty much the only thing holding her up. She couldn't believe that the devil looked like a mean girl in high school. People always joked about those girls being Satan but who the hell thought it was actually true? And that cheerleader with death pom pom's was coming after her.

"The devil wants to kill me.." she said quietly in disbelief against him as if maybe saying it out loud made it better. Nope, made it worse. Much worse. And it would sound crazy if it wasn't freaking true!

	"He's not going to kill you," He pulled her back, his hands bracing her shoulders. Ava also started to calm down, poking her bottom lip out as she pulled on Zoe's hair. Greed snapped his fingers. Zoe looked dazed and scared and only when Greed snapped his fingers did she snap out of it a little. She looked in his eyes, nodding along to what he was saying. The fear didn't lessen but he could see in her eyes that she trusted him. She believed him when he said she'd be okay and with him.

The tug at her hair also alerted back to the pudge she carried in her arms. Her face fell into concern for the tyke and she looked at the baby and then to Greed, "What about Ava..?"

	"What about Ava?" He yanked the kid back defensively, holding her away. "I'm not giving her back," he pouted as spit bubbles were thrown in his face. He wiped them off his hand with a disgusted face. She bounced on his arm, clinging to the lapels of his jacket. Before he could say another word she slapped the glasses off his face with a giggle. Zoe grabbed the glasses before they fell and held them in her hand, "I'm not telling you to give her back. But I am telling you that if the devil has her sights on killing me, Ava is going to be like squashing a hamster to her. And while you did a good job of hiding any attachment to me, a blind person can see you really like her."

She rubbed the baby's back in his arms and looked at him, "Keep her if you want but she'd be safer back with her parents and the devil thinking you got bored of her." she wasn't going to make that decision for Greed but he'd know that it'd be difficult to protect both the baby and Zoe and keep Lust in the dark and try to deal with the hell kings. Someone was going to get hurt.

	He brushed his knuckle over Ava's cheek. He was fond of the little chubby thing. It liked him, but he didn't want it to be broken before he let it go. Babies were tough, but not tough enough to survive Satan's inferno. He seemed really uncomfortable with giving her back, especially when she latched onto his finger. Zoe knew it was hard for Greed and she put an arm around his waist and rested her head against him as she looked at the baby that was so fond of him. She didn't say anything, he heard her the first time. She wouldn't push him to do what was right but he knew if he wanted to keep Ava alive, her best bet of survival would be back home with her real parents. It also meant that he had no reason to keep seeing Zoe but hell, they'd figure something out. And she'd go with him to return the baby of course if he decided that but she stayed quiet, wanting the decision to come from him.
