WHO: Ate & Skoll
WHEN: Monday night
WHERE: The wolf foresty place
WHAT: Two crazies in the woods
WARNINGS: Violence, a little gore, language, tba
He was arrogant and looking for something exciting to do with his night. What he found instead was Ate and she knew already that she was going to have more fun than him. But at the moment he was smiling, pulling at her clothes as they stumbled into the darkness under the trees and away from the car.
"You're amazing," he breathed into her hair. "Fuck."
Ate got that a lot.
She pressed him against one of the trees and, as they kissed, she drew the hunting knife out of her jacket and jammed it up behind it rips, feeling him suck the breath out of her own lungs as he tried to fill his in shock. It took only a moment for her to feel blood, and when Ate did she stepped back and let him fall.
Then from there she glared down at him, hands at her hips. "What is wrong with you?" she demanded. "What kind of person goes into the woods with a complete stranger! For the love of Hades, I could be some sort of murderer!" The man was very slowly trying to crawl away from her and so Ate kept pace and continued her annoyed ranting. "I tried to let you off even. I was all 'but I could be a serial killer for all you know tee hee' and I even attempted 'oh my shoes aren't really suitable for that' but, no, you had to do it. And look," she said, spreading her arms as though to reveal herself. "I am a serial killer and these shoes are completely unsuitable!"
People. They could be just so frustrating.

Skoll had been prowling the woods in his wolf shape, keeping an eye out for trouble, and also for dinner. There hadn't been too many problems lately, but the minute they let their guard down was the minute they started popping up in droves.
He'd caught the scent of blood, mingled with that of another immortal, and had followed the trail until it led him to a brunette girl standing over a man, who lay bleeding on the ground. She was the immortal, and she was also holding a hunting knife. Two very bad things. He let out a warning growl, a sort of 'back off, leave now' sort of sound.

The man was on his very last breaths and so Ate turned her head towards the sound of the wolf instead, not afraid of it. Only then did she pick up the feeling that came with the wolf and she frowned in surprise. "Hey," she told the furry thing, because maybe it hadn't noticed this. "You're a god-thing. How come you look like a puppy?"

Skoll tilted his head, watching her intently. She didn't look like she was intent on hurting him (right now, anyway), and he was curious, too. So he shifted back to human form, not certain if the silent communication he used with Hati and Fenrir would work with her.
"You're a god-thing too," he replied, voice still low and growly, the way it always was immediately after he shifted. "And that would be because I'm supposed to be a wolf. Silly humans turned me into a man. Not my choice. But they didn't ask."

Ate looked the now man-shaped god-thing up and down slowly. Quite slowly and with a leering smile. "Very nice," she said with a nod of approval. "And you shouldn't complain too much about those humans giving you a man-shape. It's a very good one."
She bent down to wipe her blade off on the dead man's clothes. "Did you make Rome? I know a bunch of wolves made Rome."

Skoll bore her scrutiny with little more than a raised eyebrow. "Glad you think so," he deadpanned. "It's always blonde, it seems. Blonde and strong. Can't really complain."
He let out a bark of a laugh. "No, not me. My brother and I, we came from the North. We chase the Sun and Moon, and wait for the end of the world."

"Blonde and strong are a winning combo, sugar." She grinned. "They made you hung too."
"Cool," Ate said casually, stashing her knife away. "Didn't get what any of that meant but I'm Ate, the Greek goddess of all the best stuff."

He laughed again, more human-sounding this time. "Never had any complaints in that department," he replied, looking his fill in return.
"I'm Skoll," he replied. "The Norse wolf that devours the Sun. Nice to meet you, Ate. Do you usually bring people out to the forest to kill them?" he asked, curious.

Norse, at least, Ate recognised. She didn't know all that much about them but they were a pantheon that were at least fleetingly familiar to her.
"Not usually," Ate admitted, casting a glance over the dead man before looking back to Skoll. "I'm really a city hunter, but this one just wanted to take me into the woods. Hmm," she pondered for the first time. "Maybe he was going to try and kill me. Probably not though, he was all squishy and mortal." She peered past Skoll into the darkness. "You live out here?"

Skoll sniffed the air. "Most likely not," he said after a moment. "He smells like piss and sweat, and fear. Smells like a coward."
"Yes," he said simply. "With my brother and our pack. Only place big enough to hold us all, and the humans leave us alone. The other ones spread stories of the 'big, scary wolves'." He grinned, all sharp teeth and gleaming eyes. "It suits our purpose."

"He mostly just smells like cologne to me, sugar," Ate smiled, "so I'll take your word for it there. That's a useful nose you've got on you. Smelling fear'd be fun!"
"You've got a whole pack out here?" Ate asked, peering into the darkness. Then she locked eyes with him and smiled teasingly, a hand running through her hair, "you don't look that big and scary to me."

"It's useful," he said, with a smirk and a shrug. "The more you chase them, the more scared they become. Smell's easier to pick up. And yes, it makes the hunt more fun."
"Somewhere in there," he said, waving a hand in the general direction of the trees. "Hati's with them. He'll look after them."
He took a few steps closer, not breaking the stare. "Oh really," he said. "And how big would I have to be to be scary?"

"I like," Ate said with a nod. "I don't have any cool superpowers anymore," she shrugged. "Unless you count my impeccable taste in clothes and being really hot, which I do." Modesty was also not one of her superpowers.
He moved closer to her and Ate couldn't help her smile, because threatening games were always enjoyable and she'd never played anything with a Norse before. "Is that a rhetorical question?" she asked him, casting a glance across his broad chest and then back up to his eyes. "Or can you actually become a giant?" He was already a head taller than her anyway, just as most men were.

"Glad you like," he said. "What cool superpowers did you have before, apart from your impeccable taste?"
He tilted his head, thinking. "I don't think I can," he finally said. "But they say our mother was a giantess. So who knows? I do remember being bigger when I was in the sky, though. I shrunk when I got the man-shape."

"Back in Greece when we had all the power, I used to travel by running across the tops of people's heads. They never even knew I was doing it and nothing could keep up with me. Walking around is pretty boring compared to that," Ate admitted. "But all the shoes make up for it a bit." Although those red velvet pumps - to match the red velvet dress - really were doing her no favours out here. "Everything else is less impressive to see from the outside."
"Well, yeah, but there's more room in the sky," Ate agreed with him, as though this were completely obvious. "Except why'd they put you in the sky if you're a wolf? You should have been an eagle or something. Or at ground height."

"Seriously?" he asked, raising an eyebrow? "Because that would be kind of cool. Although I'll take your word for it on the shoes." He wiggled his bare toes in the damp earth. "And impressive is what you make it, Ate of the Greeks."
He shrugged. "Why is my uncle a giant snake who circles the world? Why is my aunt half-dead? The humans made us what we are. The told the story of the wolves who chase the Sun and Moon. So that was what we were."

Ate nodded enthusiastically at his questioning. Running on heads had been the best and those bitch sisters of hers could never keep up to wreck things. Not that they were around to hassle her now anyway. "Well, my 'gifts' are still impressive enough to keep me out of trouble," Ate shrugged. "Or in it, if that's what I want." Both were good. "Always work on humans, sometimes work on Gods."
"You guys sound more whacked out than us, pumpkin," Ate said with delight. "And my dad knocked some girl up by becoming golden rain."

"I'm guessing trouble finds you either way," he said approvingly. He liked the odd bit of trouble or fighting every now and again, it kept him from getting too bored. Or a good chase, if he could get it. "Probably always works on humans because they were never as strong as god-things."
He snorted. "Then you'll probably love the story of how Odin traded one of his eyes for a drink of water that made him wise. Although the golden rain is pretty strange too."

"Trouble does do that," Ate admitted, her smile utterly sweet. "Sometimes there's no challenge in humans though. It's more fun to fuck up the inside of the heads of gods cause they think they're better than it. But I'm already in everyone, even them." She smirked at the man-shaped wolf.
"I wouldn't trade my eyes for anything, they're too pretty," Ate said, feeling that the very act of deciding to keep both of her eyes in her head already made her wiser than this Odin dude. Giving up an eye was pretty unwise. "Odin your dad? He's the king of you guys, I think?"

"I'll just bet," he said with a grin. "And I agree, they're too slow and almost none of them make for a good hunt. Gods are better. More of a worthy opponent. But most of them don't like being hunted by wolves." He shrugged. "So what exactly do you do, to be in them?"
"They are very pretty," he said with a serious nod, eyes twinkling. Then he laughed. "No, Fenrir is my father, and one day he's going to eat Odin. He's looking forward to it. And sort of, Odin is the king of the Æsir. Sort of like your Olympians."

"Nothing wrong with being hunted a bit," Ate smiled and she was pretty sure that, yes, this was flirting by now. When hunting started getting talked about, Ate was definitely flirting. Gods, if she tried to fuck a wolf would that make her as bad as her father? "I'm delusion and infatuation and obsession. I make men do the stupid things, and if they're real lucky they get to live to regret them." She moved her hand up then, creeping her slightly bloody fingers up his chest, wondering if she could sway him too. "I'm temptation, basically."
"There's a lot of eating that goes on with you Norse," Ate noted. "That a wolf thing, or a you guys thing?"
