Friar Tuck Everlasting ([info]friartuck) wrote in [info]nevermore_logs,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:friar tuck, will scarlet

WHO: Will Scarlet and Friar Tuck, with maybe saint Francis
WHEN: Saturday, early morning and I'll link this when I have a computer on Thursday
WHERE: parsonage
WHAT: aftermath of gluttony
WARNINGS: Drugs, descriptions of non-con sex

The moment Tuck escaped from the Lyft he had called to Rex's place, he stumbled up the path to the parsonage, and he threw up in a bush. He felt awful and disgusted and a kind of all over numbness which fogged his mind. Trying to reach for any thoughts that weren't 'oh god why' was like trying to catch smoke. So he lay there for a time, as the sky lightened, smelling sick in his nose, his body throbbing with pain.

He had to move. He had to get inside.

Tuck groaned as he rose, stumbling to the door. He was filthy and he knew it, and all he wanted was to climb into his bathtub and sit under the water. God, maybe he should run a bath and let himself drown.

The only reason he didn't, was because the thought of Will finding him like that was too painful.

Instead, Tuck slipped inside quietly, padding as silently as he could to the ensuite bathroom. He didn't notice Flora, their wee dog, sit up excitedly as he did so. He just shucked his clothes onto the floor, planning to burn them and the disgusting stains that were no doubt inside later. He turned the shower on and climbed into the tub, sitting under the stream with his arms around his knees. He didn't notice he was shaking, or the awful pink swirl of water making it's way from between his legs to the drain. He just sat there and tried not to scream.

In the bedroom, Flora was now bouncing all over Will, because Tuck was home and he hadn't patted her. Someone was going to take up the slack, so she nosed him until he awoke

Will was reluctant to leave, since he'd promised, so he hesitated a moment until he came up with a solution. Whistling for Flora, he commanded her up onto the bed to lie at Tuck's back. "Guard," he said softly, giving the dog a pat, and then finally left the room to return to his now cold cup of tea. He didn't say anything for a minute as he put both mugs into the microwave to reheat.

"What am I supposed to do now," he said after a minute. He felt so angry and sad and frustrated and he didn't know how to express any of it.

Well wasn't that just a question fraught with troubled answers. And honestly, Francis didn't know for sure. He was the kind of person who responded with empathy in the moment. But not everyone could do that.

"Well first things first, we get him through the next few days. I'll stay here unless either of you want me to leave. I have texted my contact at the clinic and he's going to deliver some treatment here. No reason to put Michael through a visit, considering how he's-" Francis heaved a heavy sigh, and he wondered how to phrase the next question.

"I know you both have such history together. Centuries of it. And I know you've been through some truly terrible times, and weathered so many things. Has he ever shut down on you like this before?" Because he had to Francis. And if Will hadn't experienced it, Francis was going to have to describe it.

"Not... not in recent memory." Will couldn't definitively say never. There had been times after the war when things had been a bit dire but they'd all felt it. And there had been other traumas, but none of them had r- Will had to swallow back on that word. It was hard to even think it. "Not since we've been closer these past few years."

"It used to happen when we were together in San Francisco, both as friends and while we were in a relationship. Every year, on his kid's birthdays. He would tell me he didn't have the drugs any more, so he couldn't dull the pain. It was easier to just...let his mind slide away. It never lasted too long, but this- I can see him starting, and I- I worry how long he might take to come back. After something like this-" Francis shook his head. Those long days and nights had been awful, though in turn Tuck had nursed him through his feast days and so he never complained.

Will set the mugs down on the table and sat down, gesturing for Francis to do the same. He was no medical professional, and he couldn't fix it, but he didn't want to lose Tuck to this. They'd been kidnapped and imprisoned before, they'd been tormented, but none of that was the same as this. He clenched his fist on the table, tapping it a few times.

"We need the Sin's influence to be gone before we can address the rest of it, the parts that are actually part of Tuck. The sooner the better." He regretted that Temperance wasn't within reach, and that he couldn't end the influence by ending the Sin. "I'm not going to lose him. He made me promise not to leave him, and that means he doesn't leave me either."

Francis sat and he reached for the tea, but he used it to warm his hands instead of to drink. He felt stormy inside, troubled in ways he ever so rarely was. "You will not lose him," Francis promised Will, because anything else was unthinkable. "I will do everything in my power to make sure of it. So we help him weather the next few days, and then we reassess."

He looked appraisingly at Will, and then he said, "you should eat something." He needed to say more but it sounded like Will had woken up to this nightmare and he needed to take care of himself too.

Will chuckled bitterly. "I will eat. So should you have something, don't think I can't see your wrists there." He pointed out the bloodstains seeping through the bandages. "I have to believe he will be better once he is more himself. He's been through it with his addiction before and stayed strong. We'll get him there together." He gave Francis a firm nod and sipped his tea to show he was putting something in his stomach.

"I ate breakfast, though I take your point," Francis nodded. "I know it looks ghastly, but I'm honestly used to it." And that was enough about him.

Francis rubbed at his forehead and he sighed, "I- I don't mean any offense here, but you didn't see Michael when he was in San Francisco, and at the height of his addiction. What the drugs took from him. How hard he had to work every second to not fall back into it and how hard he beat himself up when he made a mistake. I am concerned Gluttony's influence will make him feel like he did back then."

"So, we will bring him back again." Will looked back at Francis evenly. "I hear what you are saying. We'll get through it. We have time. And, we have a daughter. He won't do anything to endanger her or his place in our family. I'm not above using parental guilt to keep him on the straight and narrow." It was only halfway a joke too.

He pursed his lips and looked away. "I'll have to find a guest preacher for tomorrow. I'll ask they do a sermon on temperance, and drop in a prayer for you. I don't know if it will help but it won't hurt."

Francis gave Will a small smile and he nodded, "that would be very good, yes. I believe his associate pastor could fill in."

He sighed and nodded, "you're right, of course you are. I just fear it may take longer than we hope. I am sure the parental guilt will work though." It was the entire reason behind his addiction to begin with.

"I don't believe it would be a good idea for Tuck to return to Diogenes. And did he say dear Much works there? Perhaps he could put a word in with the Grimm brothers to have Gluttony banned from the premises? The do no harm rule surely should extend to luring people back to his home." Francis knew Asterion worked there too, and he also knew Asterion really liked Tuck. He had a feeling if Asterion found out Gluttony had hurt his friend, and he saw Gluttony again, the situation would not end well.

"Wow, a banning. That's not to be taken lightly. I won't say he doesn't deserve it though." Diogenes rarely had to ban people, and lifetime bans were even rarer, considering the length of their lifetimes. Places for their sort to convene weren't common. "I'll talk to Much. I haven't said anything to Robin yet. I wanted to wait and see what happened before I did. I don't want..." Will sighed. "I don't want Tuck to feel embarrassed if he's not ready to be seen. And clearly he isn't ready."

Francis agreed with that, "entirely behind you," he said with a nod. "And it's his choice who to tell, if anyone, of course. But I should hope no specifics are needed for Jacob and Wil to take this seriously. Even the intent to lure someone away to harm them, without knowing what harm, should be enough."

Francis groaned then, which was not something he usually did. "I find myself feeling quite wrathful right now, and I really don't like it. I want to do something to Gluttony. Not very saintlike." But it was his Michael. One of his very dearest friends, and someone he loved so very much. "It feels bad."

Will's brows rose slightly, and he gave a humourless smile. "Not very saintlike, maybe, but I work with Wrath. She likes me. I think. It's hard to tell if she's calling me names in an affectionate way or because she's really pissed. Anyway, I'm quite familiar with feeling wrathful." He got up and patted Francis' shoulder, then grabbed the cookie jar and brought it back to the table, fishing one out and taking a large bite.

"You can shepherd someone through trials of the soul, and I can punch a fucker in the throat. We each have our strengths. You leave it to me. It'll get done."

Were the situation about practically anything else, Francis might have counselled Will not to turn to violence. He abhorred violence of course, and would never ever use it himself. Still, in this instance, he nodded once. "Good," he said quietly. He wanted no more attention brought to his inability to be peaceful about this, but he wanted Will to know. "That's good."

Now back to business. "Right, the next few days. Once he's awake again, even if he is- Even if he stays silent, we will have to watch him. If he eats like he wants to, he could make himself sick, or he could drink too much liquid and that would be very bad. He might scratch his skin raw too. He used to- He would scratch the inside of his arm until it bled, without realising it. If he's feeling as bad about the opiates as he did back then, he might do the same. And it would be safer if you and I didn't sleep at the same time. He could sneak away. If Gluttony gets ahold of him again- Michael left without his permission. Before he was finished. I- I shudder to think."

Will nodded, leaning his head in his hand. This was going to be a trial, but necessary, and he had no intention of abandoning Tuck to it. "I will have to talk to a few people," he said, picking a chocolate chip out of his cookie with his free hand. "Rob will have to know. And I'm going to talk to Wrath- cautiously, but I'll get information from her about Gluttony that I won't get from anyone else. And I'll keep Tuck's phone." He sighed and crushed a crumb under his thumb. "This is going to be hard."

Francis nodded solemnly. "It is going to be very hard. But he would do it for either of us. Will you have someone with you when you speak to Wrath?" he asked, his voice cautious. "I- I am concerned you already feel quite wrathful, and with good reason. However- Two people being sin influenced might not be...the best thing?"

Will looked sharply up at Francis and sat up straighter, taking some offense that he couldn't be trusted to control himself. He clenched his jaw for a moment, then made himself calm down. Frances potentially had a point. Wrath was still a Sin, even if she was the most tolerable one. Look what Gluttony had done, and Tuck was no novice.

"I will talk to Robin," he said after a minute. "I won't go until Tuck is feeling better."

Francis saw Will work through his reaction in real time, and he waited until it was done before nodding. "That sounds like a good idea," he said calmly. "I am sorry, Will. I am sorry this happened."

"Yeah, well. Me too." Will pursed his lips and pulled out his phone to check the time. "How long did you say he'll be out? If you're staying, then I wouldn't mind going for a run. I just need- I won't be long. Need some air." It was cold out, but Will needed a chance to process this by himself, and work off some of his feelings. Tuck didn't need him wound up and angry, and Francis didn't either.

"Hours," Francis nodded. "You have time. Please, take whatever you need. I'll set about cooking something. Maybe once Michael awakes we can lure him out with the smell of food." And then closely monitor his intake. "I'll be here."

Will gave Francis a nod. "Something healthy. He'll want something decent in his belly after whatever garbage I'm sure Gluttony forced down him." Not that Francis would be frying up bacon or anything. He wondered if he could find any lemons this time of year. A lemon drink would do him good. "Thanks. I'll have my phone on me."

After the run, though. And after he spoke to Robin. And after giving Flora a big treat for being such a very good girl and guarding Tuck.
