WHO: Julia Bathory and Tinsel Claus
WHEN: Backdated to January 10th
WHERE: Tinsel's apartment
WHAT: Pampering
WARNINGS: TBA

True to her word, Julia had an entire evening of pampering set for Tinsel. She had given Tinsel a few days to just relax after arriving home from Aspen, and then she had packed an overnight bag and hauled her way to Manhattan to spoil Tinsel rotten. She arrived at the apartment at around 4pm, which would give them time before the masseuse arrived to get reacquainted with each other. Then Julia was going to cook Tinsel dinner.

She shouldered the bag of groceries so she could knock on Tinsel's door, having already been buzzed in. Julia was so excited to see her girlfriend again after so long, she couldn't wait. Tinsel had been busy, and understandably so, but Julia had missed her!

Julia's eyes widened at that. So Tinsel's parents just let the dude stay? "So they let him get away with it?! Was he inappropriate with anyone else? Dude, what a creep."

Tinsel made a sound of disgust. "Gave inappropriate stuff to my brother Henry and his husband too. Kind of embarrassed Iestyn quite a lot. He ended up being asked to leave on Boxing Day after he made one of the elves cry and Poppy threatened to stop working if it wasn't dealt with. And I mean, that's like, that's big, for one of our little helpers. They never make big stands like that, so for Poppy to speak up like that was really something. Mom had to listen." She sighed gustily. "Aside from that, it was a usual Christmas. Did a bit of skiing. Haven't done that since last year."

Julia made a face at that. "So he was embarrassing people right and left and only got asked to leave when the elves spoke up. Don't get me wrong, good on Miss Poppy! And I am glad your mom listened when she did, but she should have listened to you too. Sucks that that guy could hone in on your family time like that."

Julia ran her fingers through her short hair before saying, "I have literally never been skiing in my life. Is it fun?"

"She should've. But she has a history of thinking she knows best." Tinsel shrugged and rolled her eyes. "But skiing, yeah, it's something I enjoy. I've been skiing since I was a kid, so I learned early. It's a steep learning curve, if you ever want to try it!" Watching people learn to ski was always an exercise in humility for the new person.

"I'll try anything once," Julia laughed. She really would too. "I'm sure I'll fail miserably and look ridiculous doing it, but I'm down to make a fool of myself. Especially if I get to do it with you." Julia paused for a moment and then she said, "honestly it's so good to see you. I missed you a lot."

"I have seen people ski into walls, so wear pillows strapped all over or something." Tinsel smiled back at Julia. "Missed you too. It's nice having someone, like, outside of all the festive madness, you know? And it doesn't hurt that you're amazingly hot." She grinned, and nodded to the bags. "Does any of that have to be in the fridge?"

Julia's face split into a grin when Tinsel called her hot, and she preened a little. "Thanks! Takes one to know one! And nah, I'll start cooking as soon as the masseuse gets here so it'll be fine. I might have brought some red wine with me too, just in case!"

"Oh, just in case," Tinsel teased. "Obviously." She sighed and flopped back on the cushions, throwing an arm across her face. She never knew what to do with herself when she didn't have a lot of work to do, and it made her feel a little listless. "Maybe, we open it up now?"

"Oh hell yeah, girl!" Julia jumped up and headed for the bag of groceries. She pulled the bottle out and opened it up, letting it breathe for a second as she located wine glasses in Tinsel's kitchen.

Once she returned, it was with two glasses of a full-bodied merlot. "Here you are, beautiful. Hope it hits the spot. I spent Christmas with my sister and her family which was pretty cute. Low key and refreshing."

"Oh gosh, yeah, how was it? I mean you were messaging me, but-" Tinsel sat up again to take the glass, and to pay more attention to Julia. She felt a bit bad focusing on herself. "So you didn't have any drama like mine? Lucky."

"No drama! They're pretty chill people," Julia laughed. "My sister's brother-type person has three boyfriends though. Honestly, they live all together like a little...perpetual orgy. They're adorable though."

Tinsel blew out a breath between her lips. "Oooff, I would not have the patience for that many people. One is absolutely enough for me." She sipped her wine and laughed a little. "I can barely put up with myself some days. This is good wine, by the way. I'm glad your day was relaxing. It's what so many people need but not many actually get."

"Right?" Julia laughed, sure she wouldn't have the patience for three partners either. It was too many. Way too many. "Yeah, Christmasses were never nice when I was younger, so it's really cool to have the nice family time now."

Tinsel glanced at the clock and yawned, due to lack of activity, not because she was tired. "What time's this person coming?" she asked, and looked at the messy coffee table. She'd told Misty to take some time off with the other elves in Aspen, mostly so Tinsel wasn't disturbed by anyone in her hibernation state, but it did expose areas where she'd grown a little too used to having someone around to pick up after her. "Do we need to clean up first?"

Julia wondered why Tinsel didn't want to know about her past, growing up. She'd given her an in there, but it hadn't been taken. She checked her watch then, and smiled, "ten minutes! And no, it looks fine! She's not going to judge you," Julia smiled. "

"I might judge me, though." Tinsel rolled off the couch with a groan. The least she could do was put the dirty mugs in the sink and the empty food packets in the trash. As she picked up the mugs, she glanced at Julia. "What does "brother-type person" mean, if you don't mind me asking? Is it a found family thing, or is it a Greek thing?"

Julia stood to help, because it was the kind of person she was. "My half-sister, Roxie, is also Hermes' kid. We didn't grow up together, and only met as adults. She was adopted by a family in Washington, and moved out here to go to school. She met her best friend, Jamie, at University. And when her adopted parents passed away, Jamie's family took her in. So he's her brother-type person. Definitely found family. But with a bit of Greek thing tossed in for flavour," Julia chuckled.

"Oh, you didn't grow up with her?" Tinsel waved a hand at Julia to indicate she could sit down, and went to the kitchen with her armful of mugs. "I don't know if you told me when the first time you knew your Greek family was. All I can remember is you said your parents taught you Romanian dancing. Which is awesome busted out on the dance floor, of course." She smiled at Julia as she came back to dispose of all the trash.

Julia sat back down again, even though she hated not helping. She was going to cook, so that was something at least! "I found out when my mother's husband did," Julia sighed. "He lost his shit, and immediately started treating me like crap on the bottom of his shoe even though up until then he'd treated me like a daughter. I was about twelve, I think?"

"Oh- Oh, I'm sorry." Tinsel slowed in her movements, the packets suddenly seeming to crinkle way too loudly. "That's awful for you. That must have been hard." It seemed like such an obvious thing to say, but she certainly felt sympathy. Her parents weren't perfect, but at least they weren't abusive.

Julia gave Tinsel a fond smile and she waved her hands around. "We can dive into my super dark past another time," Julia promised. "Most important thing is I am okay now. Have the fucking best people around me. And today I am here to pamper you."

"Even so." Tinsel sucked her lower lip into her mouth with a slight frown, and went to dispose of the trash. Through her work she'd heard all sorts of stories from all sorts of people, everyone of them highly personal. Julia's story was her own to tell when she was ready.

"Well," she said when she returned, collecting her wine glass, "if you are ready, then so I am. Lets do this."

Julia grinned, and then the expression widened at the knock on the door, announcing the masseuse. "I'll get it!" Julia said, heading over to let the woman through. "This is Gloria," she said, using the name Tinsel preferred to give randoms. "Make sure she feels amazing! I'm going to start cooking!"

The masseuse asked Tinsel where she wanted the massage bed set up, and then they disappeared into another room so a relaxing atmosphere could be created without Julia's pottering around the kitchen.

The one hour massage was the perfect amount of time, and when the massage was over, Julia had just finished the Romanian goulash and mashed potatoes she was going to serve it with. Carbs and hearty food were good for pampering. And there was dessert for afters.

"Hey!" Julia grinned as the masseuse and Tinsel emerged. The delicious smell of dinner was permeating the air. "How do you feel?"

Honestly, Tinsel felt like she could have a nap right now, if she hadn't already had a nap today. She pulled her hoodie back on and smothered a yawn as she was walking out. "Feels great," she said, finding her wine glass once again, and raising it to the masseuse. "Thanks. That hit the spot. What can I smell?"

After letting the masseuse back out of the apartment, Julia returned to the kitchen and grabbed some of the half-bowls so they could serve themselves. "Romanian goulash," she explained. "My mother taught me the recipe. You eat it over potatoes. I amended it a little though, Romanian cuisine is a lot of sour things, so I sweetened it up just a tad." Julia had been taught to cook from a young age, and she was good at it.
