This just in, Banchory is really damn boring. Note to self, quests and adventures are best planned when sober. Or if they are not planned sober they need to be completed while not sober either.

Ernie, I blame you.

I reckon expecting to find anything exciting in Aberdeenshire was your first mistake.

Perhaps, but we were also on a search for kebabs that got derailed.

Is Banchory famous for kebabs then? I never knew that.

Probably not. Banchory was a shit idea.

Ah, drink. The only thing that can make a trip to Banchory sound an adventure.

Tickle up one of those salmon and I'll take it. I'm not afraid of the game wardens...

Perhaps another time.

Or I could get salmon from Tesco?

[Gregor––Jason is added after]
So. You know how we were talking about opportunities the other day? The whole reason I'm in Banchory in the first place is because my friend and I may have come up with an idea.

It's a stupid idea

A quidditch team. Muggleborn owned. Exactly how feasible, or unfeasible, might it be?

[Gregor/Justin -- and when he's added, Jason]

That's an interesting question. I'll tell you what I know and what I can do.

First, you have to be accepted by a vote of the League, which is to say the other owners.

Second, the Ministry has to not shoot you down. They ordered the League to limit the number of professional teams in the 1700s and broke up Banchory in the 1800s to enforce their will.

Third, you've got to pay the existing teams a buy-in fee for the league, to compensate them for your taking some of their share of things. I think that's mostly to ensure that the new owner is invested and also rich.

So the rules for adding teams are on the books, but we have to make a case to not get it quashed. Also, those rules are archaic. You might have to give the other owners 40 fat sows each or something. I happen to be acting as assistant coach for the Magpies, because the coach is a kind man and asked if I wanted to do so. This means I can reasonably take home and loan to you the By-Laws of the British and Irish Quiddich League. That's the document that will set the rules.

One more thing.

I don't doubt that you might be able to pull the money together to do this, or even to get the Ministry to loan you the money to do it as some sort of reparations, but I'm concerned that it will be harder to make it a long-term viable concern.

And if it fails, how do we keep it from hurting the cause?

There is also the practical matter of once you have a muggleborn owned team, how does it get sustained generationally?

Then you'll have to know the answer to, while I might have an owning stake in such a team, my children may not be entitled to the same thing. Yet if it is about empowering muggleborns, my children will presumably still face some of the challenges I do, especially if there mother is a muggle or another muggleborn.

Could it be set up in trust?

So it's a stupid idea

Well, a few complications have never stopped me before. The first thing is obviously obtain set of by-laws and read it for loopholes.

If it fails we change the story as to why it failed. Unless it was a massive catastrophe. In that case I should just leave the wizarding world and take my chances in Hong Kong.

OK, I've got it and I we can go over it soon.

And, if I may make a suggestion, when you are next approached by business associates who ask "how do we keep this from failing"? it could be considered more reassuring to say "I'll have experts on staff who know how to deal with that and to structure it so it's self-sustaining" rather than "I can always flee the country."

Anyroad, I'm still intrigued, so I'll just pretend you said something comforting.

And those are also found at a Tescos. Its fish monger, butcher, dry goods, green grocers and then some all in one place.
