WHAT: A Pride bonfire night in celebration of Guy Fawkes Day.
WHEN: Evening. Sunday, November 5th. Posting a little early so everyone has time to respond!
WHERE: Urquhart Castle and grounds

 
PRIDE BONFIRE AND GUY FAWKES NIGHT

Welcome to Bonfire Night at Urquhart Castle, where all wee Urqs once learned to walk, run, and fly. At first glance, the outside depicts a decrepit structure that Muggles enjoy touring when the weather’s nice, but the inside is a hell of a lot nicer. There’s a beautiful view of Loch Ness from pretty much anywhere you are, and the grounds are quite extensive. David knows his home is considered ‘large’ by most standards, though he’s really only been friends with families of a similar status. So he might feel a little awkward about this, but will take comments in stride and instead meet your incredulous expression with a fun fact about the castle to hopefully diffuse the tension. He’s trying really hard to be a good host, okay?

As an attempt to get to know the team better on a personal level, and to bond with them, David has been wanting to have them all over in a low-key setting. There’s food, drink, and blankets for anyone who’s getting chilly, despite the warming spell over the patio. Anything else you could possibly need, Bethoc is waiting eagerly to assist you. The loch’s about two miles down the hill, so you could walk to it, though it’s kind of a long trek if you’re feeling up for it. But by all means, please do. Pets are welcome, too! Don’t mind the family dogs milling about - and don’t feed those beggars even when they give you their best puppy dog eyes.

By the bonfire, there are prongs, as well as things to stick on them, like marshmallows and bangers, even, if that’s more your style. If you’re too sloshed to get home safe, feel free to crash in one of the Urquharts’ many spare bedrooms! Bethoc will be making breakfast in the morning, and she always enjoys the opportunity to feed an army. Not that that stops her when it’s only the six Urquharts, anyway.

TOR MCTAVISH starts choking on their food from laughter when they see ELLIE MACFUSTY trip and land face-first into a puddle. Luckily, GWEN MIRACLE saves the day with a fast “Anapneo.”

ALASDAIR BUCHANAN gets lost on the way to the bathroom and accidentally wanders into the music room where they meet the family ghost, Hamish Urquhart, from the fifteenth century. He was nine when he died, and is quite chatty. He’s thrilled to have someone new to play with.

SEBASTIÁN CAVALLERO eats too many s’mores and has to go lay down. MEAGHAN MCCORMACK takes the liberty of drawing on CAV'S face when they inevitably pass out because the couch is just too comfortable.

JOY WILLISON becomes starstruck when they meet Mrs. Agnes Urquhart, and gush over how they’re a huge fan of her records from back in the day.

MAGGIE MACDOUGAL has had a bit too much to drink, and strikes up a conversation with a gargoyle. They nearly piss themselves when it starts talking back.

Once they had some shots in them, SARA SCRIMGEOUR climbed up onto a table and started doing a jig, before she almost fell only for DAVID URQUHART to catch her just in time. They ~stare soulfully into each other's eyes~ before they're rudely interrupted by ALEC URQUHART. David puts her down and they awkwardly part ways and avoid each other for the next hour.

Okay so there might've been more shots when David wasn't around because Scrimmy dragged David off to explore the grounds and actually ended up at what she thinks is the patio because this place is too big and she would consider this 'grounds' at a normal house but apparently here it's not.

By the time they reach it she's humming with a skip in her step, snippets of a Spice Girl song slipping out, and hops up onto one of the way too elaborate looking stone tables. "Dave dave! Come on ye know the words! ~Takin' is too easy but thaaaat's the way it iiis!" Scrimmy sings loudly and points to David as she starts breaking out her best drunken moves.

"Soooo here's the story fem A ta Z, you wanna get with me ye gotta listen to mah carefully. We got ah M in the place we got gee naanana easy breezy da da da da DAAAAA!" Scrimmy hopped up dramatically to get ready for the chorus- "IF YEH WANNA BE MY LOVAAAA-AACK-!" -and her foot slipped off the edge on the landing, sending her falling straight onto poor Dave.

	Trevor spends like an hour rolling around on the damp ground with any and all dogs present. Gwen dislikes dogs, so she absents herself for this portion of the evening and refuses to let Trev near her again until he's decontaminated himself. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Trevor is really gung-ho about seeing Nessie, so he borrows a couple brooms from somebody and persuades Gwen to ride down to the loch with him. (Maybe other people want to come with? Please do!) This is possibly the first time most of the team has ever seen Gwen on a broom. Take pictures now, this opportunity does not come along often. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Scrimmy is coming to the loch because she loves her pal Nessie and probably gets into a conversation with Trevor where she makes sure to inform him (as if he didn't already know) that "Nessie was once tiny too!!"

Even if that kelpie has been giant sized for many many years.

She probably also keeps glancing at Gwen flying because well...she kinda assumed their esteemed PR person didn't know how to. What else can she do that they don't know? What other secrets does she hold? Do they even want to know?

Trevor would love to have a conversation with Scrimmy about kelpies and their life cycles and diets and idk mating habits? He's a naturalist, okay! Dragons are his job but he's interested in all the beasts. Trev is great.

Oh Scrimmy <3 Gwen's a Parkin! Of course she can fly. She just chooses not to. And she can do everything else, too. And knows everything, and sees everything. Don't question it, just trust in her absolute power.

	Meaghan actually does want to come too, though she stays on the side furthest from Gwen. Did Gwen do flying class at Hogwarts? Meaghan knows she can fly, or assumes so if she didn't do it at school, but that's probably the only time she's seen it before. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Later in the evening, not longer after Ellie spectacularly trips over her own feet and lands face down in a puddle she pops down to the loch armed a broom and every bad intention. Really, she just wants to be left alone for a few minutes, clear her head, because she already had a brawl with one of her players, she probably can't afford another.

Especially not with the other admin staff about and ready to judge her (looking at you Gwen).

She plans to do a few laps around the loch, probably try to get way too close to Nessie. But if anyone wants to join her/find her. She's there.

Otherwise she might end her run with a "feint" right into the drink. Because cold loch water certainly get you out of your head.

Maggie feels watched.

Like every time she tries to eat this sausage she looks down and there's a pair of eyes attached to a slimy nose attached to a drooling mouth and they're staring at her and– fine. She can be reasonable; she'll just turn this other way, and– how did the dog move so fast? Fine. She'll go over here, and– what the fuck.

"You can't have it," Maggie remarks to the slobbery red dog. "It's mine. Dogs don't eat sausages." (a thoughtful pause) "Probably."

And right as she takes a bite, a second pair of eyes-and-nose-and-mouth sidles up.

Maggie feels targeted.

	David comes over to order the dogs to leave Maggie's food alone in Gaelic. "No sausages for them," he confirms, and gives the dogs a stern glance. The dogs in question, of course, look completely innocent. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	While people are distracted by the dogs, Scrimmy takes an extra sausage. And also makes sure Mr. Host David at least has a drink or two. She's having more than that! 	Alasdair is comfortable and relaxed, having a great time. He's not pissed, but has had a few drinks and is pretty content by the bonfire, chatting happily with whoever happens to be around. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Meaghan is going to chill here for a while. The doggy smell reminds her of growing up, even if it's a totally different doggy smell from crups. It's been a long time since she's really been around a bunch of dogs. (Reply to this) (Parent)
