I feel like I haven't said enough about this Neep match but here are some things I'd like to point out.

We are coming into this match full speed. Montrose is coming into this match with no wind in their sails. They've got a lot of injured players, especially in their Chaser line. I want to see some hard pushing on them both from our Chasers and from the Beater team. Also ride hard on their Beaters, since we know their reserve is still recovering.

They've burned a lot of their depth against Wigtown and their backup Keeper is still injured. Don't play dirty, but be aggressive on offence and make Savage work for every save. And with Campbell on a new broom, I expect to see that Snitch in a Portree hand. Pip and Maddie, you both have experience and talent to stand up to Campbell when he was on his trusty old broom. You can for sure get past him now.

I am here for you today, tonight, and tomorrow before the match if you want specific and personal guidance, or a last run-through on form. We beat most of this lineup two years ago and four years ago, and I know we can do it tomorrow.

Traditionally Sikander leads the Neep himself and has a revolving squad of senior people that sub in and out along with the players. I expect it to be tight and a good number of fouls called, but cleaner than some of the recent matches.

Duncan Buchanan says they're going to do retraining over the summer for all the refs. Which I applaud. I'm concerned about the level of refereeing myself.

Good plan. I'll give you a fallback signal if I think you're too close to the line for Sikander.

You're a bit of an unknown quantity. They've seen you play, but that's not the same thing as playing against you in a Neep, which is a different kind of intensity. You'll need to mix it up across the three matches to keep them on their toes. Make them look for one thing but bring them something else. Not the advice I'd give, say, Lorna, but it'll work for you.

That's on both offence and defence, by the way. If you go for Lennox this time, go for something else next time. Switch it up. Make sense?

I mean... this is a mind game, right? Ultimately. I think Lennox is the first one we need to target because he's going to be trying to get himself back square AND because I think their game plan will be to rely on him to take them over the edge. If we can get the Snitch the first match, then the Montrose chasers will push harder in the second match, be a little more risky and prone to interception. If we can get them in two matches - they are going to be demolished for the championship.

Yes, that's part of it. And I agree with your assessment. But Montrose comes back on willpower more often than they should and that's their strength. So going after Lennox in this match is key, but it may not be the right answer for the next one anyhow. We'll need to reassess either way, whether they pull another ace from their hole or not.

But I like how you think about this. And I appreciate that you have. A lot of players are point and go, but those who strategise across matches are rare gems.
