[Montrose]

Puddlemere time. They’re traditionally a powerhouse team, in the last asterisk season they did outrank us, and they have a long history in this league. This has been a...very up and down season for them. Some excellent moments and matches reminiscent of Puddlemere at their height...and some truly appalling ones. But they play clean games and there’s no way of knowing which Puddlemere will show up on the day so prepare for their best and hope we get their worst.

Puddlemere Notes
Chasers: Incredibly hit and miss this season really. Griffiths is their big scorer with Duke as their reliable second. Hawksworth is the support and weak link in the trio. Mostly, it seems, because he’s captaining from the back and letting the other chasers make the goals. Force them to use him by cutting off the passing through him, you’re likely to find he’s better with strategy than accuracy.

Beaters: Very good on the defense. They’re currently the team with the least overall injuries and aren’t bad at packing a punch at all. In fact there’s a couple matches where they’ve been downright brutal. Probably the most stable part of their team, and ones to watch out for.

Seeker: Solid enough on skill, but only about a 50% catch rate. Not on a great streak at the moment but has come through for Puddlemere when they really needed her more than a few times this season. But like Puddlemere as a whole this season...you don’t know which version of her you’ll get.

Keeper: Well...their old keeper was a very respectable one and for that he was obviously snapped up by a foreign team looking for a good keeper from a previously more regarded league. The upgraded reserve is Oliver Wood, I’m sure some of our younger players might know him 'and speak up if you have any input on his style) as the former Gryffindor captain for a few years there. My Aunt speaks highly of him and from what I saw of the few Gryff matches I attended in those years, he was definitely pro material in the making early on.

He might be young and lacking pro experience but don’t go easy on him. It’s his first match as an official starter, and he is going up against the top team. Intimidation is on our side, hammer him hard with shots.

Roster: Reserves got to shine last match. Starters, you’re all up.

They’ve been on a losing streak since the break and will be looking to redeem themselves and cement that playoff spot so watch out for a return to form. Any questions/ideas/comments?

[OOC Edit] And it'd be remiss of me not to mention and congratulate our Bulgarian beater. Happy Birthday, Georgi. Many happy returns, and may this be a great year for you. You'll have an owl coming for you today.

[Florrie]
Any birthday requests? I know I have 2 weeks but..

Just a quiet time this year. It's not a big number birthday or anything so I don't want a week of parties. I haven't heard from Lorna if she wants to do anything joint yet. I may ask if she and I can take a day and just do something fun, us two.

Is it always this tiring, this part of the season?

Have you ever wanted a week of parties?

Alright, fine, won't organize anything. At least give me a suggestion gift-wise!

It is sadly. Nearing the end of the regular season, everyone knows it's time to play hard, and most teams have found a groove they like. You'll have a lot of scrambling for those playoff spots from other teams. But on top of all that...add in that it's a Neep year for us and the first one is coming up...lots on the line and lots to do.

No, and particularly not this close to the Neep. I don't mind dinner or something with you and Shona and spouses and the littles. I just don't want a big family thing because it'll put the spotlight on things with Elsie and I'm not ready for that.

Giftwise the best thing is no serious injuries and I know you're doing your best on that. The problem with physical gifts right now is that I have so little room in the Cattery that I don't want to add anything big here. So something small like perfume or a scarf or something would be nice. And I know in theory that I could take over part of Joy's space now that we know she's not coming back--which if that's not public and official, you didn't hear from me, but she's not--but I halfway expect Scrimmy Scrimgeour to move in with us since she lives her half the time anyroad.

I was wondering if it was just me. I feel as though I ought to be doing something all the time even when there's nothing to do. And I can't even affect playoff spots or the Neep, really. It's all on you lot now.

That was rhetorical! Florinda Eilidh McGonagall: The Party Animal. It just doesn't sound right.

I wouldn't have been interested in inviting Elsie to be honest. We can have a dinner at mine, that way the guest list is under your control (unlike if it was at mum's). But I'll tell the littles to put aside the life-sized Florrie paper-mache.

The Australian isn't coming back? That's going to be rough for Portree. And a real shame too, I liked her style. She was on my list to consider recruiting for future seasons if she stuck around. Portree is just having the worst time keeping players this season..

We're in the best shape we can be in terms of playoff spots. First by a comfortable amount and with our bye behind us. So I'm not worried about making playoffs, going to focus on the Neep this month. So things are going to get busier with an extra match a month..

I think I need to see Elsie but not in a big situation where everyone's watching us like a hawk. Too much pressure, you know. I'm not so angry or upset as I was, but I can't pretend everything's well. Maybe that's what the life-size Florrie papier-mache is for.

Yeah, we got the news that whatever's going on with her family is too big. I feel as though I ought to go down there and help him, but they're Muggles so it's not like we could do something to fix a problem that Muggles can't solve. It's awful for all of them. Meaghan is heartbroken and so is poor Scrimmy.

As long as we don't have any major injuries, we should be good to go.
