Full disclosure, I am now dating Kenna McLeod. My siblings and her sister know; our parents do not, though she will be telling hers this week, I believe.

I would like to tell my father myself, however I wanted to let you know as a courtesy to our team and to ensure the team is not blindsided in any way.

That's a kindly understated way of putting it.

Good. Kenna is also the same age as you and has the same kind of life experience. It's different for me and Georgi, but we're both young enough that we can grow together, and I think that's also important for a marriage. Not that I'm suggesting you and Kenna are that serious, but obviously it's a subject that's been very much on my mind recently.

And probably for the best in this case.

We're finding out what we like about each other. But we did talk and we have compatible views on what we expect out of life. That he wouldn't want me to stop everything and go home and have babies and do nothing else, and that we'd like ... I don't know how to say this without sounding critical of Mum and Da, but that we'd both like to be quite involved in each other's lives and careers and interests, where Mum and Da are happy to have things go on separately. And he likes Scotland and I'm interested in a career in the media, which is useful since he's related to the owners of the big paper in Bulgaria and his sister works as an editor. Also, he's very sweet and kind and thoughtful, which I like a lot. I think neither he nor I expect love to come in advance of decisions about marriage; we both expect it to be something you work on and cultivate, if that makes sense. Compatibility first and love and romance can grow from that.

	I think that's what Georgi and I are doing as well. Working it out as we go. It just makes me realise that my best model for that kind of thing is Gwen. Who is very different to Trevor but they seem to be very close even so. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
