IC/OOC: Portree Meets the New Consulting Coach
Who: Bart Roberts and a cast of dozen(s)
What: First Day Coaching
When: All day Jan 9th
Where: Portree Practice Pitch and offices.
Warnings:

Graham had an agenda prepared for Bart. It was going to be a busy day. The morning was going to be spent with management and the afternoon with the team. Lorna had the morning drills covered, possibly following Ellie's notes. She'd have no trouble keeping the players busy. At least it wasn't one of the days the charity practice, where half the team, including Lorna, were off with McGonagall.

10:00 Management meeting

11:00 PR (Gwen/Bart)(discuss any interviews he’ll do).

12:30 Team Leadership meeting (captain/field coaches).

13:00 Team Meeting.

13:30-16:00: Afternoon practice and one-on-ones.

18:00 Dinner with Bas and Graham

Which doesn't precisely soothe Joy's nerves, but she kicks off, and just that act, settling in on her broom, sky above and pitch below, is soothing. She can't quite forget who's watching and why, but with every twist and jag of flight she feels a little more at home... and her flying gets a little bit more natural, fluid and facile. She runs through the standard warm-up she's used since school days; moves through two of the old Bunyip plays, one simple, one more complicated; and throws in at the end one of the plays she and the other Portree chasers had worked up together. They're sparse without the rest of the pieces involved, but reiterating to herself that she has control--of herself, of her broom, of where she is and when--finally calms her nerves, even the niggling ones she's been ignoring since mid-November.

It'll be ok. She can always do this. Maybe she'll be able to do more. Maybe it'll be fun. Maybe not, but she'll always have this. It's going to be fine.

When she swoops back down to the new coach--not landing but pulling up into a low hover--her smile is wider, easier, with a quirk in one corner a little like a question mark, more like a smirk.

Bart watches her carefully, both her broom technique and her quaffle-handling technique, while she flies, and when he comes down and smirks at him, he just nods.

"I'm going to want to see that with Buchanan and Scrimmy but you've got some moves there. I like your style. Just keep doing what you're doing and I think we'll be fine."

Grin and double thumbs up says it all.
