Summary: Key and Dae have some srs bsns to discuss.
For weeks now, Dae felt a nagging sensation in her body that kept screaming that something in her life was off balance but, for the life of her, she had no idea what it could be. Dae knew how her body operated and the various signals it let off warning her that something wasn't right, and she usually managed to fix whatever was wrong within a few hours. More often than not, when something in her life changed for the worse, but she hadn't realized it yet, her body simply rebelled against her. Her mind wandered in the middle of conversations during these bouts of unease and when she normally ate like no tomorrow, she couldn't eat anything.
The moment she felt herself change, Dae took some time for herself and went over a checklist of any major or minor event that potentially had a negative effect on her. The event could be something small, like forgetting to call her mother after she had promised or it could be something big, like forgetting to turn the oven off. After years of training herself to focus and to work with her body instead of against it, she fine tuned her skill out of necessity.
When playing any type of sport, she had to keep her mind clear, with her mind and body in sync so she could move without having to think about what she was doing. With her job, she couldn't stop and take the time to think about a situation; she had to act. Such a large part of her life required her to know how her body moved that over the years, she knew how to fix things when something was wrong.
However, she couldn't figure out what on earth was wrong in her life now. Her job was fine, her family was fine, her friends were fine, Key was fine, everything was as it should be. She called everyone she could think of just to chat and see if there was any sort of anxiety when they talked, but nothing. Her bills were all taken care of for the month, she hadn't done anything to piss anyone off, her Christmas shopping had been taken care of...so what could it be?
Dae realized when her nagging sensation turned into something much worse when she had it out with her mother over Christmas. Dae had known she wouldn't be able to go home on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day, as everyone had to practically suck someone else's cock in order to have those two most cherished days off, but that's the way it had been for years. Dae took the first flight out on the 26th and was home a few short hours later to open presents, have dinner, and all those other family type bonding things.
Still, everything had been absolutely fine over the next day, despite Dae's older sister being home for the first time in a few years. The family dynamics changed with the addition of Yon, but Dae knew what to expect, and while things were a little tense from time to time, it wasn't anything big. Then...Dae yelled at her mom, which she hadn't done since she was fourteen years old. Oh, it had been bad, too.
Dae left for Nearside soon after that, reeling over what had happened, knowing then that she had to fix whatever it was that caused her to be so off balance. So, she took her last day off before work and sat down with a pen and paper, writing down everything that came to mind, as well as a list of events and people. She wrote her feelings about each situation and each person, when finally the answer came crashing down on her.
She liked Key. The realization was annoying as hell as THAT'S what caused her unease? Christ, that was nothing! Yet, still...it was huge for her. She had looked down at her list, staring at all the signs she hadn't been able to put together. Ever since mid-December, Dae had been calling Key a few times a week to see if he wanted to do anything or just to chat on her way home from work. That wasn't a big deal, as they were friends and she did that with everyone she was friends with. On the 23rd, she had a passing thought that they'd been married for three months now and there still weren't any talks about filing for divorce. Then, when she was at her parent's house for Christmas, she missed talking to him, which was only natural since she was so used to talking to him. However, when she came home and made her list, she realized she missed the way he called her 'Darlin'' with that little accent of his and the way he smiled at her.
Of all things high and mighty, she liked him in the way that a woman likes a man she wants to be with. Yes, they were married, but she didn't put much stock in that, as she never even put her wedding band on her finger. Key wasn't just some stranger she happened to marry anymore, now he was someone she actually wanted to be with, and that was terrifying. She wanted to have a full fledged relationship with him now! So, the moment work calmed down, she hopped online to ask him to come see her. She had plans for them and he was needed to take part in them.
