Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Lisa and Roger
What: pseudo NOT date
When: tonight!
Where: Lisa's flat to start, then wherever Roger takes her
Rated: TBD

Lisa heard a knock. It seemed entirely too soon for Roger to be there. She had hardly finished her make-up! She wasn't even wearing shoes! Cussing quietly to herself, and angry at Marcus for choosing tonight to go out with his friends, she hurried. "Coming," she called, trying not to make him wait too long at the door.

She slipped on a pair of modest heels to match her dress and fastened her earrings as she walked towards the door. Composing herself, she shook her hair and exhaled. Then, she opened the door.

The first thing she noticed was that Roger looked nice. "Hi," she said after a few seconds of staring.

"I can't eat ginger," Roger said. "Tastes like soap." And his mother had once washed his mouth out like soap, so he'd never forget that.

"I don't mind it," she said, conversationally as she ate her last piece of tuna sushi. It certainly had a strong taste, but she didn't think it tasted like soap. Everyone was different, though, she supposed. "I can't eat wasabi. Too strong for me."

"Yeah, I think it's too strong for most people. I think people just eat it to say that they have. To impress people. Men, mostly. We do that kind of thing." He finished off his beer. His plate, sensing he was done, cleaned itself.

She smiled at him and finished off her own beer. "We don't have to impress people," she said, putting the empty bottle on the table. It disappeared with everything else. "We just have to look good and people are impressed." She meant women, obviously.

"Yes, well, we blokes feel we have to do more. Of course, what most of us don't understand is that crushing beer cans on our foreheads and stomaching lumps of wasabi doesn't impress most birds."

"Ah. But it does amuse us. What else would we laugh at during our girl nights out?" She smiled and nudged him playfully.

"How about how badly I'm about to dance?" Roger nodded towards the floor. "Come on. It's a decent song."

Lisa nodded enthusiastically. "We'll definitely talk about your lack of dancing skills. No doubt." She laughed because it was easier than having to cover up the excitement she was reeling with as she realized she was about to dance with Roger.

Roger took her hand as he guided her to the dance floor. They were losing their table, but that was alright. The floor was incredibly crowded. Roger stood close to Lisa to dance. He wasn't terrible... he just had a lot of cheesy moves.

It was a lot warmer on the dance floor, probably caused by the people standing on all sides of her. Lisa focused only on Roger and occasionally Donaghan as she danced. Her movement wasn't skillful but it was typical of anyone her age.

Roger turned his head to the stage and when he looked back there was a creepy thirty-something grinding up behind Lisa. "Look out," he mouthed, pointing behind her.

Lisa turned around and gracefully, almost as if on accident, stepped on his foot-- hard. Turning back to Roger, she couldn't help the grin that crept over her features. "Look out for what?" She asked innocently.

Roger laughed. He grabbed Lisa's hips and spun her around, putting himself between her and the creeper.

Once the sleazeball recovered from the shock, he had something to say about that. "Fucking cunt," he said.

Roger probably could have ignored it, but he didn't. He stopped dancing and turned around. "Excuse me?"

Lisa would have been able to ignore it too, mostly because she didn't hear it. In fact, she only knew something was wrong when Roger stopped moving and turned around. She too turned, watching Roger and the man carefully.

"Apologize." Roger said, his jaw set. He had to look up at the guy, which was probably a sign that he should have walked away.

"Tell her to apologize to me."

"Why? Because you're so pathetic that molesting girls on the dance floor is the closest you can get to--" Roger didn't get to finish. The guy shoved him. Roger staggered back a few inches and caught himself.

"C'mon, pussy," he said, moving to shove Roger again. Roger was quick and brought his forearm up, sweeping his hands off their course. "Little bitch," he said before swinging at Roger. Roger ducked, but he didn't expect him to swing a second fist and that one caught him in the left eye. Roger went down hard.

Bouncers were already pushing through the crowd.

Lisa yelped when Roger hit the ground. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" She yelled at the man. Kneeling down next to Roger, she made sure he was okay. "Roger?" She put a protective hand on his head and checked his eye. It was too dark to see anything. She looked back up at the man. "Get away from us!" There was ferocity in her eyes.

"I'm fine," Roger said. His cheek was split and blood was beading on his cheek. His eye felt like it had a pulse.

Roger didn't have to worry about the guy continuing his assault. The bouncers had already stunned him and were hauling him out.

"I'm fine, really. At least he didn't have enough brains to use his wand."

"I would have hexed him into oblivion if he had," she said, confidently and with a bit of edge. "Let's get you up." She stood, grabbing him around the waist and hoisting him up. She figured he could walk but she didn't want to let him go in case he was dizzy. "Want me to apparate or do you want to call the Knight Bus?" She figured staying for the rest of the show was out of the question.

"Apparate." His head was starting to hurt and he figured flashing lights and thumping bass wasn't very good for it.

"Okay. Hold on," she said, grabbing a good hold on him anyways and turning on the spot. The next second they were standing in his kitchen. She figured apparating to the front door was sort of foolish. There was no need for modesty right now. "Here." She pushed him down onto one of the kitchen chairs. They could move to the living room later but now she needed to get some ice.

"We'll ice the swelling and then I'll heal the cuts, alright?" It looked sort of bad. He was bleeding. She thought cleaning it would probably be a good idea.

She rushed out of the room and came back with a few wash cloths. The first one she ran under the tap for some hot water. Once it was damp, she wrung it out and sat across from Roger. "Hold still," she said, leaning close to carefully dab away the blood.

Roger winced when the cloth touched his face. It had settled into a rhythm of throbbing pain and, like steady noise, it had almost become ignorable. When she touched it she disrupted that and made it sting all over.

"That's what I get for being chivalrous."

"I'm sorry," she said quietly, because alone in the kitchen there was no reason to be loud. "But thank you." She dabbed a little lighter when she noticed him wince. It was almost clean anyways so he wouldn't have to endure it much longer. "You didn't have to and you did and I appreciate it." She paused what she was doing and looked at him briefly before standing and moving to the sink again. She rinsed the bloody cloth and laid it aside. She'd put it in the laundry later for him.

Lisa then moved to the ice box, reaching her hands in and pulling out an ice cube tray. She cracked it and dropped a couple cubes into the other open washcloth. Then, she put the tray back in the box, closed the door and twisted the top of the wash cloth before handing it to Roger. "Here. Hold that on there for a few minutes and then I'll see what I can do about the cut."

"You've done a lot of things for me that you didn't have to." Roger held it to his face. The pulsing slowed. He was going to have a black eye in the morning. Smiling would hurt, and Roger needed to smile. It was his meal ticket.

"But I haven't gotten hurt doing them," she reminded him as she slipped back into the chair across from him. "That was dangerous. You could have gotten seriously hurt." She didn't want to scold him, though. She was thankful that he defended her honor. She smiled at him. "Guess it's just one of those things guys do to impress, huh?" She was impressed.
