WHO: Everyone
WHAT: A catastrophe
WHERE: St. Mungo's
WHEN: Thursday Afternoon, around 4:45p

The bottle had been swapped the night before. The intern, a young wizard named Julius Young, was not supposed to be using Draco's ingredients, but he'd run out of his own and didn't want to wait till tomorrow. He was almost done, fifteen minutes before his shift was over. Arsenius had gone home. Draco was on break. He charmed the lock open, took out the bottle, and went back to his work station.

It was one of the most common potions the hospital used, but one of the ingredients, if mixed with Salamander Blood, was horribly explosive. The night before someone had sneaked in to the lab and swapped the bottle with salamander blood, dissolved in water with green dye. When the fake ingredient hit the half-finished potion, there was a shower of sparks, and then--as it mixed in-- a big bang.

The hospital shook, the blast set off a chain reaction of other, less stable ingredients in the lab. The floor above caved into the lab below. The lab sank into the floor below. Clocks fell off the wall, bottles rattled off the edges of tables.

The hospital broke into a state of panic.

Michael had been rushing down the hall looking for anyone and everyone who needed help. He'd made sure his patients were alright and left them with one of the interns. He was almost at the caved in floor when he heard a shout. He ran towards the sound faster than he was moving before.

He really didn't need to ask what was wrong. He could see the issue before Roger said anything. He moved around and knelt down beside Brighton. He immediately felt for a pulse.

"He's alive," was the first thing he said. He checked his head, then, more importantly his neck. It wasn't broken, but it would probably be sore when he woke up. He muttered a spell to temporarily stop the bleeding from his head.

"Is he going to be okay?" Roger asked, his eyes welling up with tears. Roger had never really had concrete fear of losing Brighton since the war. Now he realized that if he lost Brighton, he'd never recover. Brighton was all he had, and all he had of Julie.

Hermione moved out of the way when Michael came running. She brought a hand over to rest on Roger's shoulder for a moment, until she heard someone yelling from the next room over. She could help, couldn't she? She wanted to do something.

"I'll be right next door. Call if you need me." She said to both men, then turned to head into the office next door.

"He's going to be fine," Michael said, in the most comforting voice he could offer. He muttered another charm and Brighton began to levitate. "We'll get him to a room immediately and see what we can do for the pain." There were a few potions he could take.

Roger tugged at his hair. He followed Michael, watching his tiny son float helplessly.

Michael rounded a corner and pushed the door to a room open. He levitated the boy onto the bed and immediately started working. He healed the cut on his head, though there was nothing he could do about the bruise there. It would have to heal gradually with the help of potions. "Unfortunately, the Potions lab is in pieces right now, or I'd get a potion down here right away. That bruise is going to be a bit painful for a bit until we can get something for him. We might have some in storage that isn't broken. I'll get someone to check as soon as possible."

He patted Brighton's arm. "As for the nature of the injury, I think it's better if he wakes up on his own."

They were starting to play messages about evacuating the building over the speakers. The concern was for structural damage now, and magic could only do so much to brace it.

"Is he okay to leave the hospital?"

Michael paused while he listened to the loudspeaker. "He's going to have to be, isn't he?" He taped some gauze over the bruise for travel. "When he wakes up, if he's having trouble with the pain in his head, send us a floo and see if we have any potions available. Maybe take a leaf out of a muggle book and ice his head?"

"Isn't there like... brain swelling or something?" Roger had heard enough horror stories about bumps on the head, but he'd never really worried about every slip and tumble. Boys would be boys. This was serious.

"It's most likely just a minor concussion. If he wakes up and starts vomiting, then watch him. If it persists, and he starts to convulse, then bring him in and we can go from there. Most likely, he'll have some ringing in his ears, maybe some blurry vision and a headache. It's also possible he'll have some slight amnesia but it shouldn't last too long." He rubbed his hands together. "If you've got any doubts or worries whatsoever, bring him back in. But I think he's alright to go home as long as you monitor him."

"But-- he's unconscious!" Wasn't that usually major?

"I have every confidence he'll wake up soon. That cut on his head wasn't serious enough for me to think he's going to acquire any brain damage."

"Alright. I'm getting him out of here, then." Who knew how safe it was. He wasn't even sure what had happened.
