Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Tim and Kevin
When: At the end of his shift, Wednesday
Where: Tea Room
What: Relaxing after work

Tim was up in the tea room, with a tea on the table in front of him and a rather vacant expression. He'd just finished a twelve hour shift, and was more than ready to go home and collapse. But that required effort. He needed the tea with caffeine and sugar in it to give him enough energy to go home.

Though, honestly, he was probably going to get his second wind after the tea and want to do something besides go home and crash.

He glanced up as the teenage waitress (the one who was ill-tempered with almost everyone except him) came over to slip him a free cookie, and broke into a grin. It definitely helped to flirt a bit with the staff.

"Yeah. Blenkinsop." He leaned over and held his hand out for Kevin to shake. "I work in Spell Damage downstairs."

Kevin shook his hand. "Ravenclaw, right? You were a few years ahead of me in school. I was class of 98... well supposed to be. Had to stop going right after Dumbledore died and Hogwarts became a very unsafe place for Muggleborns."

"Yeah. I was class of 94." He was a little bitter that he'd missed seeing the Triwizard tournament, but he was pretty happy with his Hogwarts experience.

"Sorry about... that." He added, as if it was his fault.

"I got by alright." He had a rather optimistic view of it these days, He may never have found Lavender had he not been bitten on the run. "Things turned out okay. We got through."

Tim nodded. Seems most of the witches and wizards with muggle blood got along better after the war--if they lived through it anyway.

"And now you're married." Tim smirked. "It's all the rage to gossip about it. I've even had patients asking me about it."

Kevin laughed, "I'm sure Lavender's thrilled to be the topic of it all." He knew his wife was a bit of a gossip on her own.

"I can imagine it might be a big change for her. She's not famous, is she?" Boy, was Tim out of the loop.

"No, she's not. She manages the shop here, actually." It was a good excuse to hang about her workplace waiting for her, when he had business here.

Ohhh, so THAT was Lavender Brown. She was a fit bird, that was sure. Tim was, to be quite honest, a little jealous. He was hoping that he'd find that same kind of happiness someday. Maybe someday soon?

He leaned back a bit in the chair. "That's why you're getting the cold shoulder from the waitress, I take it?"

Kevin wasn't a flirt, he was awkward about receiving attention from women, and he honestly hadn't thought of that obvious cause and effect. "Oh." He blinked. "Maybe."

Kevin often forgot that women liked his quiet smouldering rocker thing. And his arse.

"Probably. She's still right helpful and friendly toward me." Tim grinned. He loved that the waitress had a bit of a crush on him. It meant he got free cookies.

Speaking of which, there were a couple on his plate. "Cookie?" He asked, holding the plate out to offer one to Kevin.

Kevin picked one up and nodded, "Thanks." He nibbled on the edge. "Yeah? You think she fancies you?" It was certainly a theory. She had been shamelessly flirting.

Tim snorted in a friendly laugh. "Yes. I think that's exactly what's happening. She treats all of the girls that come in here like crap, but she couldn't be nicer to me."

He bit from his own cookie. "It's a shame, she's a very nice girl when she wants to be. I think she'd have more friends if she treated everyone like she treats me."

"Yeah, well, she's at that age that she'd rather be the envy of everyone than just get along with people." Oh the stupidity of youth. "And when having a boyfriend is the most important thing in the world." She could only have finished school this last spring.

"God, glad I outgrew that part." Tim said, smirking. Then he thought of Audrey, and how she as the most important thing in his world.

"Mostly." He added, still smirking brightly.

Kevin smiled and nodded. "Yeah, guess I grew into that one." Kevin had never really been in a real relationship and now Lavender was his world. It was funny how that worked.

Tim gave a little nod. He was honestly happy for the other bloke.

"So, tell me: how's the rock star business?" He asked, smirking.

He shrugged. "It's slow right now. Just writing, doing pub shows. It's not hectic like when the first album had just hit. Just stressful because people are waiting to see if we can do it again, y'know? Making sure we weren't a fluke."

Tim wanted to say that he could imagine. But really, how could one honestly imagine something like that? He simply nodded, sort of mutely.

"Do you think you have it in you?" He asked, not even thinking that that might have been a personal question.

"I dunno... I just hope the fans aren't married to the angst. My stuff lately... it's not been so dark." Kevin was well aware that his work was dark. It was autobiographical. It was tragic. Now he wrote love songs.

"Now that you're happily married?" Tim asked. He wondered how being in love (and having that love returned) might affect him and his own work.

"Yeah. I just feel like a fraud writing things I don't know, like I'm copying someone else's experience. I can only write from experience," he said. "And I'd never been in love before."

"Wow." Tim would have assumed otherwise. Kevin was a rock star, afterall. "I mean, that's great. Good thing that you found someone."
