Hermione Granger studies harder than you. ([info]her_my_nee) wrote in [info]my_rpg,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Weasleys, Potters and a Granger
When: Friday night (foredated to tomorrow)
Where: The Burrow
What: Dinner!

It was a standing invitation. Every Friday Mr. and Mrs. Weasley would host a family dinner at The Burrow. Hermione and Harry, though not technically Weasleys, were always invited. Of course Harry was, being an in-law, but Hermione thought herself incredibly lucky and honored to be included in the Weasley Family gatherings. Especially because she and Ron weren't... well...

Hermione showed up to The Burrow after work on Friday, a little earlier than usual, so that she could offer Mrs. Weasley some help getting ready for dinner. When she arrived, however, Mrs. Weasley ushered her into the living room and forced her to sit down. Apparently, dinner was nearly finished, anyway, and Mrs. Weasley didn't want Hermione working.

Hermione settled into her chair with a glass of pumpkin juice and turned to stare out the window. It felt good to be in The Burrow again.

Ron was actually not looking (much) at Hermione's backside; he was more concerned with the logistics of sitting two people on a broom. "Yeah, like that," he said in a soft voice that could only be called affectionate. "Feel alright?"

Hermione gave a little nod. "Yes, feels good." It really did. And when Ron wrapped an arm around her, it'd feel even better. Not only because she'd be warm and cuddled close against him, but because it'd be even more safe. She trusted Ron with her life. She'd seen him fly and knew that he was good.

"We're not leaving the ground until you ask me to," Ron said. "I can't have you dying of fright on my broom." He chuckled. It was strange, in a good way, having Hermione so close like this, and he honestly thought he'd be content to just stand here like this if it meant they could be close like they were.

Hermione gave a little nod. After a moment she'd relaxed her body a bit, and her breathing was a bit more regular. She wasn't as nervous--but couldn't quite figure out why. She nodded once more. "I'm ready."

"Alright, here we go," Ron said, and began steering the broom away from the ground, and up toward the stars. "How do you feel?" he asked, keeping that secure hold around her waist as he flew up and up, wanting to get up there high enough to see the view of the Burrow and the grounds surrounding it. He loved that view, maybe more than anything else in the world.

Hermione's hands were tight on the broomstick--her knuckles white. But she wasn't freaking out. Actually, she was a lot more calm than she thought she would be. His arm around her definitely helped. "I'm all right." She commented softly, turning a little to catch a glimpse of him over her shoulder. "Just don't let go."

"I would never," Ron said into Hermione's ear, and then, because he knew he could always blame it on the broom if it wasn't well-received, he gave her a tiny kiss on the cheek. "Look," he said, as they finally reached optimum height. "The Burrow looks like a toy from here."

It was well-received. Hermione flushed, her eyes closing at the tiny kiss. Or was that the fear? No, definitely the kiss. She opened her eyes again, grinning softly, and turned to look down at The Burrow.

"Oh, goodness." It was beautiful. Beautiful, but slightly scary. She leaned back against him a little more, her hands tightening on the broom. "...it's lovely." She managed. And she meant it.

"It's the best," Ron agreed, finding it much easier to say things like that when he was sure he and Hermione were alone, and when there was all this space between himself and his family, himself and the world. "Worth being a little bit scared, yeah?"

She honestly hadn't thought about it that way. Was it worth it? Definitely yes, she thought after a moment. Not only being up here where the air was cold and clear, and the view was amazing, but being up here with someone she was falling (even more) madly in love with. She nodded.

"Definitely worth it." Hermione responded, turning to look at him over her shoulder. He was so very close.

Ron smiled. "What now?" he asked. "We're up here, shall we fly around a bit? Or is that too much?"

"Whatever you want." Hermione responded with a little smile. "What do you normally do while you're up here?"

"You don't want me to do all the crazy things I try when I'm up here," Ron said. "But we can go for a bit of a fly if you're alright. See what we can see." It never quite escaped Ron how nice it was to be able to do these things in the post-war world. There were still threats out there, of course, but the biggest and most powerful one was gone, and he'd been breathing a lot easier since the day Harry had managed to destroy that final threat.

Hermione gave a little nod. She was growing more and more comfortable not only with the height, but with being sort of wrapped in his arms.

"I'm all right. Let's go for a fly."

"Okay," Ron said, smiling in the darkness, keeping one arm firmly around Hermione and using the other to steer. He took off across the field next to the Burrow and they began to fly through the night sky. "Look at the stars," he said. "That's the best part."

Hermione leaned back against him a little to turn her eyes up to the sky. She gave a warm and gentle sigh, resting her head against his shoulder.

"It's so beautiful."

"Isn't it?" Ron asked, his tone hushed by the stillness of the night air, and the awe he sensed radiating from Hermione. "Like you," he added, before he could chicken out. "It's beautiful like you."

Hermione grinned, shyly, and turned to look at him. Her face was only an inch from his, and it made her feel even more bashful.

"Thank you, Ron."
