Who: Weasleys, Potters and a Granger
When: Friday night (foredated to tomorrow)
Where: The Burrow
What: Dinner!


It was a standing invitation. Every Friday Mr. and Mrs. Weasley would host a family dinner at The Burrow. Hermione and Harry, though not technically Weasleys, were always invited. Of course Harry was, being an in-law, but Hermione thought herself incredibly lucky and honored to be included in the Weasley Family gatherings. Especially because she and Ron weren't... well...

Hermione showed up to The Burrow after work on Friday, a little earlier than usual, so that she could offer Mrs. Weasley some help getting ready for dinner. When she arrived, however, Mrs. Weasley ushered her into the living room and forced her to sit down. Apparently, dinner was nearly finished, anyway, and Mrs. Weasley didn't want Hermione working.

Hermione settled into her chair with a glass of pumpkin juice and turned to stare out the window. It felt good to be in The Burrow again.

Dinner was pleasant, as usual. A little quieter, though. He kept his eyes on Hermione and Ron most of the time, trying to discern through their body language if the date went well or not. So far, he learned that he was bad at reading people.

Audrey and Fleur were in the kitchen cleaning dishes with mum. Percy took a seat at a sofa and unwrapped a little red breath mint, popping it into his mouth.

He gave Hermione a grin and offered her one. "Peppermint."

"Thank you." Hermione said, holding her hand out for the mint. She was smiling. Things were good in her life. The date with Ron had gone really well, though they hadn't seen much of each other since. And Mrs. Weasley kept her attention through most of dinner, so poor Hermione couldn't talk much with Ron.

"How are you, Percy?" She asked. She hadn't had much chance to talk to him, either, during the meal.

Percy's eye followed Harry out to the patio. He must be looking for Ron.

"Good," he returned back to Hermione, placing a wrapper peppermint in her hand. "Auction was successful, I presume?"

Hermione blushed, thinking about the date she'd had with Ron. She also wondered how many times she'd have to tell the story of it. Probably just a couple more. She imagined Ginny might be curious, too.

"Yes. It was. We raised a lot of money for the hospital." Avoiding the subject of her date with Ron? Priceless. She'd make him dig for details.

"Ah. I bet. I look forward to getting those financial figures in at the end of the month." There was a pause as he chewed on his peppermint. He was dying to know, really.

"So," he began, finally. "How did the date go?"

Hermione gave a little nod, slowly unwrapping the mint. "Let me know if you need any help." She offered as she put the mint in her mouth.

There it was. The smirk came back to Hermione's features. "My date with Ron, you mean?" Stalling, stalling. It was a great feeling.

"Yes," Percy urged, looking around for Ron. He wasn't around. Percy leaned in closer, as if partaking in a secret.

"Your date with Ron," he almost whispered. "Did it go well?"

Hermione loved it. It was fun--first Harry, now Percy--all her friends wondering how things went with Ron. A part of her was curious to see if he was getting all these questions, too. She leaned in a little.

"It was brilliant." She couldn't hide it. Things were still a little awkward, but the 'I like you, you like me' part was over. And they were going to have a second date... eventually.

"Really?" He perked up, although tried to restrain himself from smiling too widely. He was beaming inside. Ron managed to not screw it up. "Brilliant? Honestly? Ron?"

Hermione nearly gave a laugh at the look on Percy's face. It made her grin a bit wider and blush deeply. "He took me to a Quidditch Museum." Quick Pause. "But, honestly, he could have taken me anywhere and I would have enjoyed it. So long as we were together." The blush deepened.

"Hermione!" He said cheekily, mock scolding her. Percy was almost feeling...giddy himself. "You little minx, you. So, you really like him, hm?" He was on the edge of his seat now, close to Hermione.

It may not have been possible for Hermione's face to go any redder. She couldn't stop grinning, either. Somehow telling Percy about all this made her feel like she was back gossiping with the girls in her dorm at Hogwarts.

"Yeah, I do." She confessed. Though, it wouldn't be much of a shock to either of them, right? "Very much."

Percy nodded, trying to regain his composure. "Good. I approve. Thoroughly."

He leaned back into his seat. "Are you going to keep your last name?" He said as a joke. He couldn't resist.

Hermione gave a soft snort, breaking into a wild grin. "Besides Fleur, Audrey, your mother..." She leaned back on the sofa, nursing the glass of juice.

"Though, I'm not planning on having seven children."

"That's fine," he shrugged. "At least one would be more than enough. Audrey and I--we're still hoping." They had fertility problems since marriage. It was a strain on their relationship.

Hermione nodded. "Definitely one. Probably two." She couldn't believe they were having this conversation. She gave a laugh. "But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Ron and I should probably have a second date before all that."

"All to the best then?" Percy grinned. He looked past Hermione, seeing Audrey come into the room with a couple of bottles of beers.

"Found 'em in the fridge," she said as she approached the couch. She offered one to the two sitting in the room.

"Thanks." Hermione accepted the beer, then stood. "All to the best." She gave Percy a smile, and patted Audrey on the shoulder. "I'm gonna go find Ron. --And Harry." She added, though she was really just looking for Ron.

Hermione glanced back before she left the room. Percy and Audrey were so cute. She only wished the best for them.
