Who: Barbara Gordon and Dean Winchester
What: The first encounter with the 'new' Dean.
When: Friday, November 7, 2008
Where: London Library - Mundus branch
Why: Because I say so!
Status: Closed, incomplete
Friday was always a good day to be a librarian. While the kids were in doing research for summer projects, it was generally a slow day - especially during the summers. Fridays the librarians tended to close up shop early and go out together (or they had when the older librarians were younger). But with so many people in the library today, it seemed like 5 PM would never come.
It had not been an easy week. What with Dean... or 'not Dean' as she was starting to wonder if she should call him -, the latest delivery from the publishing house. Gwen had come to see her so that had been alright, but she couldn't believe that people kept disappearing! IF they got to leave why shouldn't she?! One of the few people she'd been close to - the guy she'd been falling for - was not gone and she wanted nothing better than to go home and talk to her Aunt about it! But no. She couldn't do that. It was impossible.
She took a few books from a child standing in front of the desk, before stamping them with the return date and handing them back. It wasn't a very exciting job, but it gave her time to work on her programming (and she was good at it). Her laptop had been set up on the desk all day, and at certain intervals she would look up to check on the room as she continued her hacking job. Today's project was hacking back into the local police database as well as networking. She still had the cave, and she had the computer programmed for everything she needed, but she didn't want to go there tonight. Earlier she'd networked the systems together with a triple encryption. No one wa going to get into her laptop if she could help it.
Everything had been bothering her recently. She never let it bother her night job or her day job but it was a mystery that she just couldn't get around. How it would happen, how the meeting would go. Should she just ignore him and the feelings she had? This wasn't her Dean... right? None of this made sense, just like when Sam disappeared - the first - time didn't make sense! How this kept happening, why it kept happening... how they'd gotten here?!
Her hands flew over the keys, she was almost completely focused on the code slipping down the screen. This needed to get done. And it was one of the only ways she could keep herself from over thinking... It was her downfall really... She just hoped this would be done before closing time. She didn't want to have to trek over to the cave. Not before work.
