I'm not holding your hand, Mia. You're so wrapped up in the idea that people are always babying you that you're not even considering the fact that I told you because I respect you, not pity you.

It has nothing to do with you being a child and everything to do with the fact that you're my friend and I love you. I told you before, I'm not going to judge you, I have no place doing that.

If you respect me then know that whatever insight you might get talking with James? I live with him and I'm not sitting around here thinking that he's off to go meet a client in the dead of night. I know why you reached out. I know you mean well, but this isn't exactly breaking news and it's not a big deal. My marriage wasn't built on a foundation of love, fidelity, and trust. It's obligation.

I don't know why you're married to him, I don't know what 'obligation' means, I can only go off of what I assume because you've never told me or explained it to me before. I have absolutely no idea what's going on, I'm just telling you what I know. If you don't want me to do that from now on just say so and I won't, I promise.

...And just to clarify, even if you didn't know he was doing what he's doing, that wouldn't make you stupid. My father slept around for years before my mother found out, she wasn't stupid. He was just a good liar.

It's not something that comes up in casual conversation. Our marriage was arranged by our families. Our fathers are old friends and wanted to keep our money in their inner circle. James is like a son to my parents and they love him very much.

I'd rather you didn't tell me. It's not my business as far as I'm concerned and I'd rather not know. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that your mother is stupid or foolish but it's different for me. James doesn't bother to put any effort into his lies.

I can't abandon my family. I love them too much to betray them like that.

I don't hate my husband. I guess I should, but I don't. James is just James and he's always going to be that way. He's stubborn, moody, unfaithful, and irrationally jealous but he's a good father and even with me he has his moments. There are worse things I could be than married to James Carson.

I'm sorry if I was short with you. In my small town, no one speaks about these things so openly. Not to the spouse. I know what he's doing and I'd rather stay out of it as much as I possibly can.

Thank you for the communicator. I'm lucky to have a friend like you in my life.
