[14 Mar 2016|11:06pm] The first thing you hear when you wake up is the roar of the waves. Everything seems peaceful until you sit up and look around you. To the north, you see smoke rising silently from what must have been a nearby town. From the amount of it, it appears that the entire town has burned. And except for the waves, which are hitting the beach as they have for millions of years, there is no sound. It is silent. No birds, no buzzing insects, nothing. There is no sign of life around you. As you stand, you begin to see other signs that something terrible has happened. The rotting bodies of fish line the beach, as do dead birds. The ocean breeze brings with it the pungent smell of death. There is no way to tell what has happened here, but it is very obviously bad. Beside you, half buried in the sand, is a small device, similar to a smart phone. When you stood, it started beeping, and when you pick it up, you realize that there is a message waiting for you. GREETINGS. WE ARE SORRY THAT WE CANNOT MEET YOU HERE IN PERSON, BUT OUR TIME IS RUNNING OUT. WE WERE LUCKY TO SURVIVE THIS LONG...IF YOU CAN CALL IT LUCK. IT HAS BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE THE BOMBS FELL, DESTROYING EVERYTHING, AND SPREADING MADNESS. THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT. NO INFRASTRUCTURE. NO FOOD. THE CITY YOU SEE BURNING WAS ONCE ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA, AND IF YOU ARE CAREFUL, YOU MIGHT FIND SHELTER THERE. BEWARE, HOWEVER, ANY THAT YOU MIGHT MEET THERE. THOSE WHO SURVIVED THE BOMBS BECAME MADDENED, AND THEY WILL NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT KILLING AND EATING YOU - OR WORSE.
