On first view a quiet, idyllic town on the east coast filled with historic buildings and leafy suburbs. A place that most people would kill to live in and some, quite literally, do. From the moment it was founded Mystic Falls was plagued with strange happenings, but none more strange than what has recently befallen the town. In a bid to rid the town of Lily Salvatore and her Heretics once and for all, Bonnie Bennett attempted to cast a spell that would expel the Heretics and send them back to their prison world. It backfired. Badly. Instead a magical barrier appeared around the town trapping everyone who enters Mystic Falls knowingly or otherwise. If that weren't enough, people from other worlds (prison worlds, perhaps?) have begun mysteriously appearing in the center of town. With no knowledge of how they got here or what happened to them, the residents of Mystic Falls now have an even bigger problem on their hands than the Heretics. How can they stop the spell's power from randomly snatching people from their homes? How can they lift the barrier around Mystic Falls? Shortly thereafter, the refugees came. Fictional characters, and characters from alternate worlds to this one were drawn here by a bright and searingly painful blue light--an object of cosmic significance and less understanding, the Tesseract. Refugees were processed by S.W.O.R.D., housed by Stark Industries, and over the next three years integrated themselves in S.H.I.E.L.D., S.W.O.R.D, the nascent Avengers, and the world's scientific, defense, and occult communities. But not everything that comes through through the Tesseract has been so positive: dragons, vampires, werewolves, and supernatural mischief are drawn through the Space Stone with remarkable regularity. And the only threats aren't from outside as these would be heroes find themselves in an increasingly complicated world of heroes, villains, espionage, and invasion. How will the world react to the emergence of superpowered individuals and the collateral damage in their wake? Are there other relics like the Tesseract that someone might want? Can the knowledge of other worlds prevent disaster or cause it? And above all, what will be the next thing to come through this doorway? While our game centers around S.H.I.E.L.D., S.W.O.R.D., and Avengers subplots, there is a lot of room for those interested in social or personal plotting, a thriving supernatural task force, and a full social calendar to go alongside plot.
