The year is 2015. The place is New York City - Manhattan, to be precise - and Central Park is ground zero for a world-shaking phenomenon.

Despite SHIELD having recovered Loki's scepter, they are still clearing up after HYDRA's experiments. Whilst trying to focus the power of the staff the rogue scientists lost control of their project. Perhaps the item was attempting to return to Asgard or it simply let off a burst of energy that punched a hole in the universe. The details are sketchy - none of the scientists survived to tell the tale - the results are what matters now.

All attempts to close the rift have so far proved unsuccessful, though SHIELD continues to try. Meanwhile people from far-away worlds have been transported to a corner of Central Park against their will. The Agents of SHIELD have been tasked with keeping vigil over the rift and helping newcomers settle into their new lives in New York.

The Doctor is adrift in a malfunctioning time machine and spaceship, and the TARDIS has stopped responding. Inside, everything seems to be working just fine. Any part of the ship can be accessed, rooms still appear and disappear as needed, and the ship is very obviously going somewhere.

But no one has any idea where. And while the ship isn't letting anyone off, it is bringing people on.

Hobb's End
Hobb's End, a rural town that cannot be found, not unless someone or something wants you to be here. Even so, no one is welcome here. Very few people wish to stay, and while nothing is stopping anybody from leaving, not one person seems to get very far.

Those who try to leave are faced with endless roads, never-ending woods or cornfields. This isn't entirely true, because after some time, be it minutes, hours or days, the individual reappears in town: or worse. Their location often changes, and the same can be said for a newcomer's arrival. Some are found wandering in the Marshlands; some wind up in a ditch; and others wake up in a bed.

It's not just the roads and woods that have a strange effect on people. Rumours have been told of buildings that have an unusual effect on tenants, while other buildings seem to choose who is not welcomed inside. Hauntings or not, these can't compare to the other phenomena.

Something is in contol of the town and the surrounding farmlands, let alone the townsfolk. Who or what it is doesn't matter, but rather, why does it want with the townspeople?

You're not welcome in Hobb's End.
