You open your eyes and you are in a stately room with fine trappings and thick stone walls. You look outside and a dragon flies passed your window and yet that is clearly a sprawling, modern city you see in the distance. You search your room for any clue as to how you arrived in… where are you? All you find is a scroll inviting you to enjoy your stay in the Land of Make Believe. And that's when things get odd...

Welcome to Pacis Urbs, a city that takes the best of all worlds for itself.

And, yes, that includes you.

You've been taken quite by accident (so they say), but you're hardly the first Otherworlder to arrive in this city. Pacis Urbs has a long history of accommodating Others like yourself and getting them back home. The only problem is, getting you back is expensive. How can you earn the money to get home?

Menial labor is one choice: cooking, cleaning, laundry. Working at the Domus Hospes, a club that caters to Native with exotic tastes, is another. However, the most lucrative way to earn money is the Games.

These gladiator-esque games are wildly popular in Pacis Urbs and other cities, generating much of the city's income. While these games can be light, even humorous, the darker games pay more. Getting home isn't cheap, and there are plenty of ways to sell yourself on the Campus.

Isolated from the rest of the city, collared and marked as an outsider, you're stuck in this world until you can pay off your debt.

But, even if the crowd loves you, nothing is as straightforward as the Scientists make it out to be. Despite espousing isolation, the Native politics trickle in from time to time (be it those who want the Otherworlders dead or the Otherworlders freed), and not all Otherworlders are going with the system. There are those who'll do anything to keep the Games from running, and those who'll do everything to get ahead. You could be a casualty of both.

If all else fails, you could find the Machine and try to make it send you home. If you could find it. (And if it would listen to you.)

The year is 2039 and nearly all of the world has been destroyed by war, disease and pollution, and things are about to get worse. Another war is about to break out, and if something isn't done to stop it the few remaining countries in the world may be destroyed. An Irish Scientist by the name Adam McBride may have the solution to the world's problems, and the thirteen remaining countries in the United Nations has been backing him. His research into the science of time travel has led him to the discovery of an ancient temple in Egypt. In a room at the base of the temple is a diagram of a machine built by one of the priests, and beside it there is a sketching of what appears to be a man from the future, surrounded by Egyptain priests bowing to him. McBride believed that the machine was the first time machine to ever be built and he was determined to recreate it.

On December 3rd of 2038 the machine was finished and one month later the first attempt to bring someone through was completed, but things didn't exactly go the way it was planned. Instead of people from other times it was people and all kinds of creatures from the world of fiction. At first the represenitives from the United Nations deemed the project a failure, but then McBride convinced them that the characters that had been pulled through could be used to serve another purpose. The characters would be turned into a new secret agency that would serve the United Nation's purposes. They wouldn't be loyal to any one country directly, which would eliminate the need for bickering between the countries and they would do anything and everything that was required to keep the world safe. They would be called: The United Nations Security Alliance.
