Humanity has a history of causing their own worst problems, and that's what happened in the year 2014. There was a war going and the world was divided in two; the world was running out of resources, and is it any wonder? Japan, Russia, China and Germany thought that the solution to the problem was population control, but of course the rest of the world just wasn't buying that. The United States, England, Spain and Canada had all aligned themselves together to make sure that the rights of the people around the world were protected. Japan, Russia, China and Germany were known as The Alliance and United States, England, Spain and Canada were known as the Freedom Force. The Alliance officially declared war on the Freedom Force on July 4th 2013, and from that moment on the world was in chaos.
After many acts of war on American soil the United States convinced the Freedom Force to fight back. On January 1st 2014 The Freedom Force launched their first offensive strike and it would be their last. They launched several Nuclear Bombs that were meant for Japan, but Japan had a spy on the inside and thanks to his computer skills the bombs turned in midair and returned to American soil. The White House was destroyed, along with many other monuments around the country. Survivors huddled around the country in fear wondering if another attack would come or if they had finally lost the war for freedom.
There was one military base in The United States that was not touched; The Paranormal Society for Homeland Protection. The P.S.H.P was hidden underground in Shreveport Louisiana, and they were a government funded research base. They had always been ignored by the rest of the military, and the General who had screwed up on recent attack had even go so far as to call them a waste of American money. Now, they were America's only hope. It was up to them to find the rest of the American Citizens who had survived and bring them underground to safety. Just as urgent was the need to reunite the Freedom the Force; when the other countries saw what had happened to the United States they ran in fear. All of the people scattered and went into hiding; soldiers were reduced to protecting the remaining politicians from the other three countries.
That all happened fifty years ago; the year is 2064 and P.S.H.P have managed to bring most of the survivors to Shreveport, but there are several settlements out west that have no idea what's really going on. The Alliance has learned of these settlements in America and they plan to come finish the job that they started fifty years ago. The problem is that the Freedom Force has lost many lives since then, and they don't have enough soldiers to get to all of the settlements on time. There was a powerful witch working for the P.S.H.P and she decided that she had the solution. She found this spell that would open portals to other magical realms and allow the beings living there to come through and help them. The only problem was that she couldn't choose which portals would open, but she decided to do the spell anyways. Unfortunately the spell went wrong, and instead of opening those portals it opened portals to all realms and for the longest time she couldn't get any of them closed. After several tries she got most of them closed, but there are still five open in the United States; there is one in New York, Shreveport, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Washington DC. There are still people coming through them; sometimes it is intentional and at other times people are pulled out of their world and thrust here. Once they realize what has happened it is too late, because when they turn around the portal will have disappeared. The portals have developed a mind of their own, and they decide who comes and who goes.
