Eric was looking forward to Vala visiting this evening. He hadn't spent much time with his lover since the night of the pirate attack, and he wanted the opportunity to talk with her and find out how she was doing. He could feel an echo of any strong emotions that she felt, of course; the fact that he had given her his blood to heal her had formed the bond that made that possible. It was no substitute for conversation and spending time together, though.

He built a fire in the fireplace while he waited for his lover to arrive so that the living room would be nice and cozy. There was food in the cabinets in case Vala was hungry. The night of the attack he'd had nothing in his house for her to eat, and he didn't want that to happen again. He'd swiped a bunch of non-perishable food items from the inn, as well as tea leaves in case she wanted something other than water to drink.

When the fire was built he relaxed on his sofa, listening for the sound of Vala's footsteps on the path leading up to his house.

Arms crossed in front of her, Lucy contemplated the door to the castle. It hung ajar, exposing smooth stonework and a tempting hint of tapestry just past the entrance. She'd been out looking for Eric's disappearing garden, but it was probably in hiding at the moment. The door, though . . . the door, and all that could be behind it, fascinated her.

She heard footsteps behind her, and turned to see Vala approaching. Lucy smiled. She liked Vala's refreshingly direct approach to things, but hadn't really had much of a chance to talk with the other woman.

"Hello there," she said, nodding at Vala.

Eric woke for the night in the mood for a bit of socialization, and there was really only one place for that on the Folly: the pub, which was where he decided to go. He would see who was around, maybe chat for a while, and then head home again, preferably with one of his lovers if either of them felt like going home with him.

He opened the door to the pub and moved to step inside, only to run smack into someone. He discovered that the doorway was already occupied by a man as tall and as broad-shouldered as he was. Even if Eric hadn't recognized the man in front of him, he would have recognized the scent of werewolf immediately. Rather than apologize for running into him, Eric smirked. "Alcide Herveaux. Fancy running into you here."

It was late morning by the time Vala woke and made it outside, and it was still considered pretty early for her. With a yawn, Vala stumbled slightly and sat on the edge of the fountain, fixing the laces on her boots.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw someone move past, someone she was not familiar with. Standing, she moved over to him, her eyes raking up and down his body from the back.

"Hello," Vala said amiably, smiling up at him as she slipped his arm in through his. "You are not someone I've met before. That I would remember," she said, smirking up at him.

    Sympathy for the Devil
    Who: Dean
When: 3 am, or close to
Where: outside the Inn, between the Inn itself and where the Impala is being kept.
Open To: Lucifer (later possibly others)
    Thread: Single

It was late, but Dean wanted a few things from the Impala. The bitch of her not running, or of him not using her, was that she'd always been storage space, and now he found himself still using her for that. Only she was further away, now, in the stable behind the inn, next to Carr's bike.

He opened the trunk and grabbed a duffel--there was rope in there, rope Vala had been asking for-- and a few other things that'd be scary to humans. That done, he closed the trunk and started back to the Inn.

There was a man leaning against the side of the building, smoking a cigarette. At least, it looked like a man, but Dean's guts told him that wasn't what it was. He stopped walking, bag on his shoulder, and unconsciously flared his nostrils.

The hair on the back of his neck stood up, and he could smell sulfer, very slightly. But he didn't think this was a demon. He had a pretty good idea who was leaning there. He didn't look like Sam, but Dean wasn't sure that mattered, or that it wouldn't change in a few seconds.

He squared his jaw and swallowed, Adam's Apple moving, rage coming off of him in waves. A curl of cigarette smoke wafted toward him and Dean dropped the bag at his feet.

"Y'know, it's funny," he said. "The last time I saw you, you had a different face. I like this one better, personally."

After full dark had fallen, Eric left his house and headed to the pub, looking to socialize a bit. He'd not been in the mood to be out and about much since the battle, but he found that he missed what little night life the Folly had to offer, and he was looking forward to just hanging out for bit.

Just before he reached the square, his enhanced vampire night vision enabled him to see a young man out walking in the dark that he didn't recognize. Since Eric had made a point of meeting each person on the Folly, he could only assume that this person was a fairly new arrival.

Making sure to move at human speed and to appear as non-threatening as possible (which was hard to to do with his height and build), Eric approached the young man. "Hello," he called, giving him a hint of a smile. "I don't believe we've met. I'm Eric Northman." He did not offer his hand. Eric didn't shake hands with anyone.

Will held Kirjava in his hands as he moved through the town square. His face was distorted to a focused scowl as he mind raced ahead with all possible explanations for what he was experiencing. Somehow, he was on another world. He shouldn't be. The windows were supposed to be closed yet somehow he had ended up somewhere new.

He didn't even know what to call the place yet. Kirjava jumped from his hands, probably sensing someone near or intrigued by the signs of fighting on some of the buildings. Will watched for a moment and then moved to explore some more. He had questions and he needed to find the answers.

    for Alcide
Everything had died down to less than a dull roar, and Sookie was happy about that.

The pirate attack had kept her busy; she'd stayed in her house, but focused on Dean and protecting him as he tried to get to the Inn. That'd ended up with more of Dean defending the outlaying areas of the Folly instead of making much progress, but it'd worked just the same. She'd kept him safe, and she hadn't gotten hurt. Now he'd been able to get to the Inn, and Sookie was glad. Elissa was hurt. He needed to be with her.

So now, with the sun out, finally, Sookie took tentative steps outside, alert for more pirates, intent on making her own way to the Inn and seeing what good she could do. The nice thing about the pirate attack had been that the pirates were doing an awful lot of loud thinking-- they were kinda like billboards. She'd be just fine if she could steer clear of any she met until she met up with people who were more like warriors than she was.

She shut the front door of her house and locked it, something she normally wouldn't do... but she didn't need to come home to a heaping helping of pirates, either. She had a frying pan in her right hand, and she walked out toward the Inn with her head high, wondering how things'd gone for Eric during the Fray.

She got about halfway to the Inn when she dropped the frying pan onto the cobblestone with a loud clatter.

    Someone was standing there.
    Someone she knew.

    Sookie gasped.

Vala leaned back slightly on the edge of the castle tower, trying to get a better view of the entire Folly down below her. "Really, really high up here," she chuckled, looking down and getting slightly dizzy at seeing how far down the land dropped off. She slipped her arm through Eric's casually; she knew he wouldn't let her fall but it felt like a nice added bit of security.

Avast ye mateys and abandon all hope ye who enter here! )

ETA: Because there will be a lot going on and a lot of people replying, assume everyone is at the tavern already or Eric went and got your character and had him go to the tavern immediately, it will be easier that way. Also, when replying, if you have a specific side convo you want to have with someone at the tavern reply in the coments in the subject header with to who and WHEN it is so we know (i.e. "FOR DEAN-- AN HOUR AFTER CONVO WITH EVERYONE"). When replying to the main conversation jump in when your character has something to say until we have an established pattern going is the best way to do it. I realise this may be a bit bulky at the beginning but I think we will all be able to get through it. *nods*

Vala made her way up Eric's front steps, slipping into the shade of his porch and out of the warm sun. Moving forward, she reached out and tried to turn the doorknob, it wouldn't budge. Locked. Vala rolled her eyes and reached into her corset for her familiar lock picking tools that she carried on hand. Of course, trust Eric to lock his doors during the day while he slept.

The lock to his front door wasn't much and it didn't take Vala long before she had the pins in place and swung the door wide open. Chuckling to herself, she stepped in and made herself at home.

She knew that he would be upstairs sleeping the day off so she had a bit of time before she had to worry about him waking up. Patting her pockets, she felt the lump and slowly pulled it out.

Moving over to a nearby table, she unfolded her handkerchief and ran a finger over the old but still shinning brass star. Her fingers ran over the lettering, SHERRIFF. Giggling, she set it down on the table. Vala didn't know much about Earth history, but Daniel had been able to give her a few background lessons before she had taken off and when she had stumbled across this in the castle in one of its many, many rooms, she hadn't thought twice about nicking it for Eric. She hoped he'd at least get a chuckle out of it, she certainly had.

Nodding to herself, she slipped back out his front door just as silently as she had slipped in and locked it up behind her.

The ribbon tying Lucy's hair back flapped against her neck as she stepped out of the house into the square. The narrow three-storey house had been everything she'd hoped, though it was evident from the stain on the floor of the converted attic that the roof leaked. She'd have to fix that at some point. It was clear that no-one had lived there for a while.

All in all, she rather liked the house. At first, she hadn't been able to get over the feeling that it was too small, but then she'd realized that she was thinking in terms of having eight people in the building. With just her, it was more than big enough. The skylighted attic conversion on the top floor would be perfect for an art studio as soon as she cleared out the boxes and furniture that had been stored up there by some past resident. The next floor down comprised two rooms, one back and one front, which still held age-darkened wooden furniture. The wardrobe in the front bedroom could have been the model for the wardrobe in C.S. Lewis' fantasy series. The bottom had one large room at the front, lit by a huge bay window, and a kitchen and bathroom at the back. The kitchen and bathroom incorporated surprising amounts of clockwork, and from the kitchen there was a door into a small and overgrown garden. There was even a small larder just off the kitchen - no fridge-freezers here.

There was even a cellar, which Lucy had just finished exploring. It was full of empty barrels, and half-hidden in the shadows at the back had been a door. The room behind had proved to be chock-full of old, tarnished and broken-stringed musical instruments, which looked at if they could be easily restored with a little attention. But, true to life's ironies, there had been no piano.

What there hadn't been, and which she hadn't known was missing until she'd touched the kitchen table, was dust. The place was clean. Obviously unlived-in, yes, but clean.

Going back inside for a moment, Lucy emerged dragging a wooden garden bench. She had no idea why it had been in the kitchen, but it would be far more useful outdoors. It'd give people somewhere to sit.

He'd kept a low profile since arriving in the Folly, hiding in his rooms, exploring the place little by little. He didn't know who else was here, couldn't risk running into someone the Senior Partners had access to. The only person he'd really spoken to was Phaedra. And...well, there were things he wanted to do to her that didn't involve much talking.

He was nursing a beer and avoiding looking at anyone else, bored outta his mind. If there was a guitar, anything, at least he'd have something to do.

Most artists liked to do their work in the morning or, on occasion, in the evening, when the light was soft and warm, illuminating. Bastian had fallen out of the habit. He could see just as well at night as during the day. Better sometimes, without the light overwhelming his sensitive eyes.

On this particular night, he had made his way out to the edge of the flying rock, sitting on a rock outcropping where he could see both the town and the vast expanse of sky. His sketchbook was open on his lap as he doodled, more distracting himself than seriously drawing anything.

    "So who is this friend?"

She was genuinely curious. Elissa followed Dean back through the door where they had exited the inn and then out the front doors of the inn itself. Outside it was bright and cheery, lifting her spirits somewhat despite the worry in the back of her mind. But there were other things to be concerned about, and right now she was just a little excited about meeting a new face. She held no illusions (or at least tried to, but it was difficult to quell the butterflies in her stomach) that this person would know anything about getting back home; instead, she simply tried to think of it as finding a new member of the party, back when she and Alistair had tried to find others to help them in their long fight against Loghain. Man or woman, what skills they would possess, how would they fit into the party and work with others... It was a familiar thing and that comforted her in the midst of all of this strangeness.

Of course, getting to continue to spend time with Dean was also a plus, but she tried not to let that go to the forefront of her mind. So instead she just followed, wondering where they were going and unconsciously touching her sword hilt every now and again (once she'd realized they were leaving the inn, she made a special trip back to her room to retrieve the blade, needing the security it offered). The handling wasn't terribly noticeable, but it was there and she gave no thought to it other than that she was glad she had it. Otherwise her hands were at her side, or tucked behind her back - not necessarily movement out of anxiety, but more excitement, and it was all graceful movement.

She noted that they were moving through a neighborhood of houses now, each with its own peculiar quirks, but most of the same basic structure. They were familiar and yet not, somewhat similar to houses in villages she'd visited, but for the most part she couldn't name the builders nor the type of construction if she tried.

Lucy had spent most of her first day getting thoroughly lost. She'd eaten a late breakfast at the Wolf's Head Inn, then wrapped up a couple of sandwiches and gone exploring. As it turned out, the mountain wasn't huge, but she was very glad that she'd thought to pack lunch. She'd eaten sitting outside the castle, and had contemplated going inside. Something, though, had told her to wait.

She'd found her way back with only one slight detour, and had made it to the square just after sunset. The place looked equal parts welcoming and spooky, the cheerful light from the inn and the few occupied houses contrasting with the sullen darkness of the empty ones. Behind her, the fountain sparkled in the starlight.

It was a nice night. Lucy sat one the edge of the fountain and listened to the rushing rhythm, her mind weaving a melody around it as she thought back over her day.

Vala made her way down from the library towards the center of town, the information she had found written down and tucked into the waistband of her pants. She wasn't sure who this professor was but she was determined to find out. From what she had heard of the man, it wouldn't be far off to guess the man was Ancient in origin and well, that was exactly what she was trying to avoid, Origin.

She had figured out the dimensions she would need for her stargate along with the materials. She hadn't quite worked out yet where she was going to find the naquadah necessary to get the gate running, but she figured she'd worry about that when she got to it.

Mentally going over her plan, Vala missed the long poles someone was carrying, almost smacking her head on them. "Woah," Vala ducked and moved out of the way, cocking her head curiously at Eric when she saw it was him. "Redecorating are we?" She asked, eyeing up his armful of fabric and curtain rods.

Lucy groaned as she tried to move her leg, her ice-soaked slacks slipping against the fresh snow. "Jeff? Jeff, are you still there?"

Her cell phone returned only silence. As she turned her head to look at the display, she was greeted with only a blank black screen, a crack across the screen dividing it into two unequal halves. She was honestly surprised that it had lasted this long, what with the damage it had taken in the crash.

Shelter. I have to find shelter, she thought slowly. Can't go to sleep . . . so tired. So cold.

Lifting her head, she winced as the movement dragged at the deep cuts that had been formed by the flying window glass. At least she'd been sitting at the back of the van, where the window had been behind her – she'd be blind now if it had been in front.

There was a deep shadow less than twenty yards away. A cave, maybe? Forcing her unwilling body to cooperate, Lucy dragged herself towards the shadow. It felt like twenty miles, not twenty yards, but as she drew nearer, she could see it was definitely a cave. Had she been more coherent, she would have wondered at the shimmer in the air. As it was, she decided that she was suffering from cold-induced hallucinations, and kept going.

It took her several seconds before she realized that she was no longer crawling over rough rock, but over smooth cobblestones. Blankly, she looked up to see a bright blue sky. Behind her were timber-framed, whitewashed houses. There was no sign of the cave she'd crawled into. It was warm – far, far warmer than the snowy mountainside she'd just been on.

Cold, soaked and bleeding, Lucy hauled herself into a seated position and started to shiver uncontrollably.

It was mid-afternoon as Vala hiked her way up the hill just past the Wolfe's Head Tavern. In her explorations, she had always gone west of the tavern or north to explore the castle, she had yet to actually go east. Up ahead of her was a large stone stable, all of its doors wide open. There was one stall though, near the back that was open and had the front end of a car sticking out with a pair of legs underneath.

Cocking her head to the side, Vala headed towards the man. She placed a hand on the hood of the car and bent down, able to see the rest of the man under the car; it was Dean. "Hello," Vala said, giving him a wide smile.

Off in the distance, Vala heard a low rumbling. She paused by the fountain cocking her head as she looked off towards the castle. She waited until, there, she heard it again.

"What--?" Vala started, trying to figure if the noise was organic or mechanical in nature. Her question was cut off by another loud roar before the sky seemed to open up and a deluge poured down. Blinking, Vala tipped her head back, looking up at the sky. It was raining. She laughed and opened her mouth to the rain as it continued to pour down all around her.

Phaedra was perched on the edge of a bench in the square, looking at the stars. It was an unnatural perch--she looked more like a gargoyle than a woman sitting there.

There were more stars here than there were in Seattle; it wasn't quite like being home, when she was alive, but it was more clear. She looked almost human, sitting there, gazing upward.

She'd had to find a place to stay, quickly, that wasn't the inn. It just didn't accomodate her needs well enough--to many places for light to creep in. She'd found a small, neat house not too far away, and everything inside of it had been her taste (which was to say, a lot of red and black). There were rooms inside dark enough, thanks to heavy drapes and she would swear, tinted glass, that allowed her to become dead to the world without danger.

She heard someone approach her but did not stop gazing upward; no one here could really harm her.

"Devlesa avilan," she said, then sent the thought. Hello.
