Who: Oliver and Edwin Where: En route to the southern tip of the ravine When: mid-morning
Oliver had stepped out of the barn with a bag full of surprise, a slight stomp in his step, and every intention of remaining annoyed for however long it took for Edwin to inevitably wiggle the negative energy out of him after his interaction with Pam on the network. It actually only lasted as far as the soda machine, where they'd spent a couple of minutes negotiating for a few rewards for a few tasks, one where Oliver promised to carry Edwin back from wherever they were when they decided to go back to the house for the day as long as there wasn't an emergency, and one where Edwin got to learn that his hulking, drawling boyfriend new all of the words to Jenny from the Block. The military. Of course the military. Considering his prizes had been a pair of comfy, mismatched socks, a full container of icyhot cream that he was definitely going to end up needing by the end of the day, and watching Edwin earn himself a bottle of nailpolish and an eyeliner, but the time they actually left he was feeling a hell of a lot better.
He knew that it hadn't really been about Pam. A bit, yeah, but in a way that he should have been used to by now. He knew he was still sore about Kate, and probably would be for a while, if ever really got over it. Even trying to assure himself she'd be back didn't make him feel any better. Sulking for a whole day hadn't really helped much, but spending time with Edwin did, and his boyfriend had cuddled and coddled in all the right ways. He needed to apologize to Owen for bailing on The Great Furby Hunt without warning, and he made a mental note to remind himself to send a message over the network when they arrived at whatever their destination had in store.
They were making good time for now, though Oliver knew he should probably wind that down a bit considering he was still getting over the soreness from his ladder adventure. Maybe he shouldn't have offered to carry his boyfriend all the way back, but after reviewing his own wording in his head, he realized there was nothing to stop them from deciding to head back to the house after making a pit stop somewhere closer first. Like taking a dip in the river, or some fishing. Maybe he could convince Chase to bring a pole with him when he came up with the cooler. Of course, that was assuming they found a suitable path in a reasonable amount of time. For all they knew the pair of them, and Chase and his crew, could be wandering up and down the east side of the ravine looking for pathways all day long.
"I don't remember if we ever talked about it. With all the kids in your family, how did you guys do vacations? You ever go regular old campin'?"
