I'd like to turn to a type of song that people like myself find ourselves subjected to with increasing frequency as time goes on, and that is the college alma mater. You'll find yourself at a reunion of grads, and old undergrads, and eh... somebody will start croaking out one of these things and everyone will gradually join in -- each in his own key, of course -- until the place is just soggy with nostalgia. Well, a typical such song might be called Bright College Days, and might go like this. Bright college days, O carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high. Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls. Turn on the spigot, pour the beer and swig it, and gaudeamus igit-ur. Here's to parties we tossed, To the games that we lost, We shall claim that we won them some day. To the girls young and sweet, To the spacious back seat of our beat up Chevrolet.

My dad just called. He wanted to complain about the Cubs. I didn't watch the game, but he said it was a bad one. He proceeded to yell at me about Sveum and why it was the stupidest idea to take Dempster off the mound because it all went downhill after Wood stepped on it. I told him to root for the Cardinals, but he said he'd never defect. (I would NEVER EVER tell him to root for the Sox.)

Other than that, it was the usual parent stuff: How are you? How're classes? Making friends? I couldn't tell him why I'm here. Again. But the complaining lasted longer. Typical Dad. I miss him.

On Sunday, I'm going to get some Peeps for the Easter tradition of blowing one up. It's a silly thing my dad and I did when I was a kid that kind of stuck with me. Pissed my mom off every year. Don't worry, Jazz, I'll will clean the microwave right after!

happy good friday! my mami used to make the most wonderful fish dishes on el viernes santo, but i'm such a dummy in the kitchen. looks like it's fish sticks and packaged tortillas this year. unless someone wants to come cook for me. i'll lead rights and decorate and do everything that doesn't involve touching food.

it could be a lovely evening. don't even think of it as christian if you don't want to. just drop by wing a, floor 2 and be prepared to socialize~ your queen commands you.

Respect is something that all of us should be given, as a right we have from birth. We are to be respected as human beings, all of whom share the same earth and breathe the same air. With that said, it's been evident that there is a general lack of respect on this forum from a variety of individuals. This forum is for all of us to use freely and without fear of seeing something triggering. Free speech is not free in a school environment.

Respect your neighbors and your friends. Respect those you don't know already, and those you hope to. Watch what you say and how you say it. This isn't a playground, no matter how easy it is to throw sand in another's eyes. You are the ones who represent this school. We share this school, too, and for the time that we do, I ask that we all act like it.

If any of you are having difficulties, please contact your RA, or any one of us. Thank you.

I found this a few days ago after Beau and I were talking about art museums. What an interesting visual commentary on our views and preference of the female figure, past and present. I much prefer the original forms myself. What do you think? Do you find one more appealing than the other? Or do you feel like the difference isn't so much?

Can I also ask for some help on a sonnet I wrote for my Shakespeare class? Adam provided the excellent suggestion of writing on something that sparked my curiosity. I went walking and the thought struck me: looking at the numerous budding and blooming plants, I thought they were captivating. But I wondered, too, about that which we do not see: the tree underneath; the roots.

Anyway, I'm very unhappy with this unrevised piece. I don't like iambic pentameter and probably failed at it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. It would mean a lot to me...five counts...so thanks. Or something.
