It's not often a strange plant manages to grow in my garden. Now that I know of the danger I may take to them with some very thick leather gloves to see if I can get some cuttings.

Please be careful. Would you try to cultivate the cuttings, to create a more manageable plant?

I was thinking I'd move them to a safer environment to start with. But it seems like it would be prudent to have them, to find out whether it's a scientific or magical mechanism that causes the sleep.

And I'll be sure not to need rescuing again.

I think that would be very wise on both points. I'm grateful that my skin is too tough for the thorns to damage.

You managed to fall without hurting yourself too much, at least.

If the effect is magical, I wonder if that might be enough protection. That would most likely prevent even touching the thorns though, in which case they might as well be leaves. The entire point of a thorn is the prick.

The advantages of a lifetime of training.

Did you experience any ill side effects? Besides falling asleep?

No, I feel fine otherwise. Aside from a little bruising from the fall at least.

That's good to hear. I'd get a check-up, just to make sure.

Clark brought me to medical, but I'd have agreed regardless. I try not to be one of those stubborn idiots who insist on avoiding medical care at all costs.

As a doctor, that's a relief to hear. I've never understood the mindset. To do it in a pinch so you can get things done, yes. But for the long term, never a great idea.

To be fair, medicine isn't always the most trusted field for mutants. A lot of it does come down to machismo though.

There aren't any mutants on my version of Earth, at least none that I know of, but I can understand mistrust happening among groups of people, which is really unfortunate.

Machismo is another story.

The original version of this timeline, in which Thanos invaded? I've had several conversations with Tony about the differences, but it's still strange to think there are so many similarities but an entire species missing.

It's strange for me to think that you consider yourselves a different species. No offense.

Like I said before, mutants may be around, but they just haven't revealed themselves yet?

It may be almost as much political as it is scientific, but both sides are satisfied with the designation. I was ten when my powers began to develop and fifteen when I learned about mutants, but even in those five years I was regarded as... something beyond other people, particularly once I returned to my mother's home in Kenya.

It's possible, but unlikely. It's difficult for us to find first generation mutants before their powers develop, so they often inadvertently draw attention to themselves. I haven't been able to find any news or rumours that would suggest adolescent mutants here.
