Huh.

Right then.

You have fancy technology here so I guess there's that. Don't suppose you've got tea? The real kind. With the leaves and what have you.

Lucky for you, I just got back in town with an extensive collection. With the leaves, that is.

Yeah?

I don't have any form of payment at the moment. And if I know your world at all, you lot prefer those little bits of paper.

Oh, that's not necessary. It's on the house.

And what do you want in return?
So, favor for favor, is that it?

That's very kind of you.

Sounds like a bit of a habit you've formed.

Well when you put it like that...

Though, caffeine addiction is a problem.

Caffeine?

Something naturally part of black teas that helps keep you awake. It's also found in coffee, soda and various other items. It's also one of the primary ingredients in migraine medications.

Oh, I see. So it's a bit like a drug, hence the addiction part. But it's legal in your world?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Well... addiction may be too strong of a word. Some people can feel withdrawal from caffeine, but unlike real drugs it can't do physical damage. So it isn't illegal. At least not in tea, coffee, soft drinks or other manufactured products such as those.

Pure or highly concentrated caffeine in powder or liquid forms are considered unlawful in large quantities if sold directly to a consumer becuase, as with just about anything, too much is not a good thing. But the amount in a cup of coffee or tea is enough to keep you awake.

Welcome! I don't think we've met yet. My name's Sharon Carter, and if there's anything at all I can do to help you settle in, please let me know.

There is definitely tea... just make sure you don't get your hands on "sweet tea", as that's something very different.

Well, no, probably not, I've been here a whole half an hour. I'm Hatter.

Different how?

Ah that explains it! Welcome, Hatter.

It's probably half sugar. Very syrupy and sweet.

Is sugar bad? That other guy apparently eats sugar on top of sugar.

Peter Parker? I wouldn't be surprised. He's a teenager. I think it's in their job description.

Uh... what other kind of tea is there? How do you make tea without leaves?

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]asaboxoffrogs

Well, there are ones with florals and ones with herbs and some people make ones out of tree bark. There are other teas, but they're not in this world, nor should they be.

Oh yea, like chamomile and stuff? The kind of tea that's not really tea?

I prefer coffee.

I suppose so. Those I suppose you could call herbal infusions to avoid confusion, as the actual definition of tea usually involves an actual tea plant.

I've heard of coffee, I'm not really familiar with it yet.

I've heard as much. I'm not a huge tea drinker myself.

Shut.the.front.door. You haven't had coffee yet?? You haven't lived! I think you need to come try some right now.

Oh, yeah, dude, there's totally lots of tea in the cupboard. I think people put it on the shopping list, have one cup, then leave the box up there. Whenever I'm looking for sugar for my cereal, the boxes come crashing down on my head.

You add additional sugar to your cereal.

Concerning. But a man after my own heart. I'll check the cupboard as well, thank you.

You don't add additional sugar to your cereal?

Hey, no prob. You're new, right? Welcome to the place.

I am, thanks.

Hey, you're welcome. Least I can do.

Are you British? Lucky for you, we have a decent coffee and tea shop in New Asgard if you want to stop by. Though I'm sure Dr. Palmer might have a fancier collection.

We use a proper strainer and everything.

It's not very hard. Mostly just ring up customers and make drinks. It will be nice for Donna, Kara, and myself to have an extra hand. And you could meet Cath!
