OPEN TO ALL : Wakandan Braai

T'Challa invited you to a barbecue and he intends to give you that. While he's spared no expense on the menu and food, the atmosphere is surprisingly lacking any real pomp and circumstance. It's your standard backyard barbecue, it just happens to have a meat carving station and a jungle made of carved fruit.

But it has paper plates and cups, a variety of bottled beverages (adult and otherwise). It's the menu where T'Challa (or more his in house chef) is flexing.

The menu includes a variety of meats: boerewors (a South African sausage), beef ribs, peri peri chicken, grilled bluefish, and more exotic ones, primarily kudu and crocodile steaks (with other game baked into braai pies or made to order</a>). There's not so much to speak on for sides: They can grill corn, mushrooms, lamb and apricot sosaties on skewers, a grilled potato salad, and have bread available. So maybe you brought sides that aren't meat! But they do have a nice spread for dessert between the carved fruit, marshmallows, grilled bananas with oak-smoked chocolate frozen mousse, and orange slices sauted in a star anise butterscotch sauce.

	Ororo wore this dress and brought kachumbari, a tomato and onion salad. Laura with tall stompy boots. Melissa Elsa's wearing this top and black jeans. I can't be bothered picking out nice stuff for anyone else because they don't care about their clothes as much. :) But Cassie, Roman and Sam all turned up as well. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Either Wakanda has more of a vegetarian bent than I captured because of the Gorilla Tribe or possibly evolved to be aggressively carnivorous to spite the. Hard to guess. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Ava showed up with the grilled corn and John Walker in tow. She's been living on prison food for awhile, so don't mind her while she chows down on a questionable amount of food. Dressing up? That's one of Okoye's lesser known roles actually. You think the shaved heads are a ritual thing? It's 100% to serve cheekbones. And there's no real reason armor should have that much red dress otherwise.

He's sure his chef can manage something for her to take. Else she could always put food on one plate, and place another on top and kind of carefully make one. He's seen that before.

	Val attended wearing something similar to this outfit, comprised of her purchases from the city. She didn't bring anything herself, but claims she helped out with the grilled corn, filing in after Ava and John. A good portion of her time was spent trying and complimenting the desserts. Carol made an appearance, mingling some and enjoying the good time. She would stay back a little unless someone she knew closely was there- though she wasn't against getting to know anyone else. She just was observing for now.

Madison came. Because why not? Plus, she heard a thing or two about this King T'Challa and she hadn't exactly met him yet.

Kamala came because this was SO COOL! She ate too much. Probably talked to much or said something to embarrass an Avenger or two.

Miles came because he really, really, really wants to meet T'Challa, but he might be too nervous to approach the guy.

Basically all of my characters came to this feast.

Cath only stayed for a little while--long enough to drop off some goodies and head back to the bakery.
Kate probably grabbed some food and hid in a corner.
Peter ate all the food. He's a growing boy, afterall.
Steve probably talked to T'Challa about the Avengers application process for a while.
Sharon showed up for a while, with wine, looking for Pepper, May, Zari, Daisy... the usual crowd.
Henry brought food down to the Science Team... if they wanted any. He said hello and socialized a little, but didn't linger.
Yelena stole food. (I told her it's not stealing if they're giving it away, but she didn't believe me.)

Imagining Yelena like sneaking up to the table as people and old ladies and children and who knows who else are just casually walking up and taking food and lingering, chatting.

I think Steve and T'Challa both are the sort who on paper feel like a barbecue shouldn't be a place to talk business. But then 100% will absolutely talk business at a barbecue. So as much as he probably should be doing that whole king / host thing and mingling, they can probably get an aside for a fairly in depth conversation on that.

I feel T'Challa is interested in getting to know Sharon a bit more too.

Definitely. "Just one question" turns into a five or ten minute conversation. I'm sure that they both have people prying them apart to get their attention, so I imagine it wouldn't be much longer than that. ;)

Zari came to shmooze, hang out and possibly meet the extremely handsome King of Wakanda. She dressed to impress, but not outshine anyone.

Nico came for the hell of it. Kept mostly to herself. Watched everything avidly.

Derek came on Steve's arm. Spent the time in Meat Heaven. He feels a little silly for bringing a plate of deviled eggs (which were delicious, btw), and just quietly deposited them on the food table before walking away with pink cheeks and a plate heaped dangerously high.

Clint came, aw hell yeah! Stayed sober, chatted a bunch, was great, fine, and good! Totally! Like a real live boy!

Jemma came with Alya, but had to leave early after the stimulation got to be a little too much for her.

Karli—aw hell nah, for all the obvious reasons.

J'onn came, both in his capacity as Head of Refugee Affairs for Little Wakanda and because who doesn't like a good party?

Rhodey came, both out of respect for T'Challa and because he really needs to get out more to keep his mind off of Tony still being missing.

Harry Dresden showed, because if there's one thing he's learned, it's that you don't turn down free food.
