Barry Allen wasn't really the type to joke around when there were serious things going on. He couldn't help that his sudden appearance startled the poor woman, nor could he help how funny her reaction was to that appearance. A little levity wasn't going to kill anyone right?...poor choice of words, actually, strike that from the record.

A soft smirk lingered on his lips as she turned to him, giving a sheepish shrug of his shoulders. "Sorry."

A moment later he had his game face back on. "Everything all right here?"

Alice waved a hand, dismissing the whole thing. "It's fine." Really, in the grand scheme of everything that was happening, a little near-heart attack wasn't much at all. "You'd think I'd be used to the super-ness of it all already, but you'd be wrong." She laughed, but it was more self-deprecation than any real humor. The building behind them didn't allow for much else.

"Fine here. This close to the woods, I figure the worst I'm going to face is a nosy reporter or a wild animal, and one of those is smart enough to stay away from an exploding building." She shook her head. "You? Is the rest of the perimeter holding okay?" She assumed she'd hear something on the comms if it wasn't, but there was always a chance something unusual could have happened that rendered communication impossible.

In the grand scheme of things, a lot of things weren't much at all. Barry nodded, folding his arms across his chest as he surveyed the barrier they established around the perimeter, and then down the street toward where any oncoming traffic might approach. Thankfully, there was no one driving down the road in their direction. "I guess it takes a bit of getting used to," Barry said. It certainly took him some time to get used to.

"Yeah, everything's holding up," Barry responded. "No nosy reporters or wild animals so far as I can tell. This perimeter is rock solid--there's no way in. With that exploding and green flash and exploding all over again? There's nothing we can do on this side."

Alice nodded, her eyes straying toward the building again. It was oddly calm for the moment, sitting in that stretch of minutes between it reforming and the new explosion, and every time it made her doubt her perception of it. A hallucination didn't seem so far-fetched by comparison.

"You ever seen anything like this before?" She wasn't sure which part she meant, but she didn't clarify, either. It was very nearly more than she could comprehend in her human experience of the world.

It was absolutely surreal. Barry had tried to get in there time and again--both before the explosion, during, and after. Nothing worked. A part of him thought it was a little silly that they set up this perimeter and were keeping people out--the barrier around that time loop was doing as good a job as they could, or better. He felt a little useless, running around in his red suit. But he was here, and was doing whatever he could to support his friends and family in this world.

"No," Barry said, quite honestly. "Never." He'd seen some strange things in his day, but this was probably the strangest.

"Have you?"

Alice laughed, more from nerves than real amusement, as she looked back over her shoulder. "No. Things in my world were decidedly normal and human. No super powers, no magic, no out-there scientific...whatevers." She gestured back at the building, the perfect illustration of that particular line item. "Well, other than that pesky little mirror that transported me into Wonderland, so what do I know? Maybe there was a whole magical sub-culture, and I just wasn't cool enough to be invited."

	Hey, at least he could still make a pretty girl laugh. Even if it wasn't exactly on purpose. He was curious, though, about what her world was like. Barry was curious about all the worlds that spit people into this one. "Sounds boring," he joked, giving her a hopeful smile. "Hey, every place has their secrets. Doesn't make you any less cool." "You'd think." That got a bit more of a genuine laugh. "Unfortunately, life doesn't always need super-things to throw crap at you to keep your life...I wouldn't call it exciting, but definitely not boring." But they had enough of this world's brand of crap going on right now for her to bring up her childhood trauma, even if she wanted to. "Does that mean I'm not more cool now because I see all this now?"

	"I suppose it's better to be busy than bored, right?" Barry asked. Then he glanced where the glow of the exploding Lighthouse could be seen at the tops of the trees. And he winced.
