"Shit, it's probably the Coast Guard," Sharon replied, lifting a hand to adjust her earpiece. She glanced at Steve as if to silently ask of she should go help Sam handle it. He gave her a nod.

"You can probably see that explosion from a mile out. Sam? I'm on my way to intercept. I'll meet you at the pier in 5." Thankfully, the pier was a straight shot from where she'd parked.

"Got it. See you there." Sam finished his current arc, twisting into the warm air currents to get a little more lift as he turned back toward the rendezvous point. It was faster for him in the air, so he didn't rush it, keeping one eye on the lights and the other on the coast ahead, looking for any other signs of life. Anything aiming to be stealthy would be beyond him right now.

He made enough noise to alert Sharon to his presence before he swooped in and landed at her side, wings tucking in as he fell into step with her. "Not sure how many people we're looking at." He tapped his visor. "Thermal's out of whack this close to the explosion. What's your game plan?" He'd follow Sharon's lead. After all, he was the one wearing a very telling and potentially controversial suit, and Sharon was far more convincing than he was.

Sharon hopped in her car and sped down the straight-away, pulling into a slot next to the pier. She assumed that the vessel would come right up to the dock--if it didn't, there would be no need to intercept. On the way, she asked Tim for the Coast Guard channel--that had to be this vessel, right? If it wasn't Coast Guard, she wasn't sure if they could get ears on what the people on the boat were discussing.

While she wasn't completely accustomed to working with Sam in his new, fancy suit, she was familiar enough to be aware of him when he landed beside her.

"I've got Tim patching us in to the Coast Guard comms channel," Sharon replied. "I figure hopefully we'll have some idea what they think before they get here."

"Good. It would help to know what we're in for." Sam didn't have much hope that they'd be talking their way out of this one easily, considering the very big and obvious evidence behind them of things absolutely not going according to the laws of nature, but they could try it. "If this even is the Coast Guard." The boat had slowed now, either because it was closer to the shore or because they were also assessing the situation. "Because if this is a local news crew, I'd really rather not end up a headline for all the wrong reasons." He was pretty difficult to miss in this suit.

Somehow, standing beside Captain America made Sharon feel stronger. More confident. She honestly had no idea what she was going to say to these people--though knowing whether it was Coast Guard or press might help with that plan.

"I'm with you," she said gently, eyes on the boat. "Don't want to give the wrong impression if this is simply some newspaper or magazine on a fact-finding mission. What's our cover story? Or do we just insist this is private property and say we have no comment?"

"Do we have an official position yet?" Sam had stayed tuned into the channel they were using for surveillance and keeping the perimeter, on which chatter was kept to a minimum, but he assumed there was a larger conversation happening elsewhere. Considering what he was witnessing several times an hour, he doubted those talks had any better information than he did, but there was no doubt that people in power had already been asking questions. "Somehow I doubt we're gonna be lucky enough to sell this as a fancy illusion. Think we can get away with 'no comment'? Because I like the sound of that one." Considering they didn't know the truth of the situation, it was probably the most truthful answer they could give.

"Not so much as I've heard," Sharon said, frowning just slightly. She really wished they had more to go on than nothing to see here but that seemed to be the stance.

His next comment solidified the idea that they really should take mum's the word to heart over this whole thing. She nodded. "I like the sound of that one, too. Good news is this is private property. We just tell them to scram." She paused. "Politely, of course."

Sam nodded in agreement as their approach shaped up between them. No matter who was coming to visit, they probably wouldn't like that answer, but it was better than unnecessarily stirring up the public. "Good news is that even without the perimeter, this thing seems to be keeping itself contained." A couple of people had taken a shot at getting into the Lighthouse already, and this force of whatever-it-was kept them back. "We can lean on that if we need it. No comment on what's happening, other than to say this is self-contained and not impacting the surrounding land or water." He hoped this time thing wouldn't make a liar out of him.
