September 18 -- Truth or Dare?
Who: Eline, Tristan, Landon, Brenna, Lilly, Sabryna, Danny, Dominique and Ellie.
Where: Room of Requirements
When: After dinner
Rating: PG
Status: Complete.
Summary: Eline arrives first to the Room of Requirements, sets it up and waits for everyone to make their way over. After getting restless she finds Landon waiting outside. They talk a bit until Brenna and Tristan show up (Tristan appears with a bag full of questionable items). Tristan stands watch as the three go into the Room of Requirements. Lilly and Sabryna show up shortly. Sabryna vows to not be the usual ball of energy she is and tries her best not to let out a stream of the usual questions. Dominique and Danny show up together. They joke around a bit with Tristan and soon the games begin, only to be interrupted by Ellie. Her intrusion, meant as a joke between her and Eline, leaves a bad taste on everyone’s tongue and the game is over before it’s even started.

Eline was the first one in the Room of Requirements. It was a bit of a job to sneak out of dinner early, especially when she was aiming to be unnoticed by Lan and Tris, but she had managed it. For whatever reason she just had to prove a point that they weren’t the only ones who could do something fun. It might have been something deeper, but that would also be something she refused to admit.

The girl dropped her messenger bag onto one of the tables and surveyed her work. The room was clad with bean bag chairs, a fireplace and white walls. It was plain, simple and exactly what she was aiming for.

Now all she had to do was wait for everyone else. Fun.

Danny sat back a bit, idly sucking on his lip ring and letting the other students argue amongst themselves. He wasn't keen on volunteering himself first for it but he wouldn't back down from the challenge either. Hazel eyes casually looked over the rather interesting group they'd managed to form.

"I agree with Lan," Dominique decided, "That would be fair. Draw straws or something like that."

She crossed and uncrossed her legs, trying to get comfortable.

“There’s a hat over there.” Eline pointed to a coat rack that seemed to have materialized. It probably did, seeing as they were in the Room of Requirements and the hat just happened to be required. “And I could just take a page from my journal, rip up the pieces, then we could all write our names on a piece? Or we could roll dice… Well we’re doing something random, right? That’s the fairest way.”

In the split second it took Bryn to remind herself that she was trying to tone down on the over energetic giggles and flailing, she remembered that she probably shouldn't agree, or volunteer to go first until she knew more about what was going on. Besides, they'd need a fair method to determine who would go second.

It was on the tip of her tongue to suggest spin the wand, but she supposed that that was a different game. Or that she was getting ahead of herself. She wasn't sure which.

Her moving around was making the chair squeak, and she almost wondered if she wouldn't be better off on the floor.

"Someone could think of a number and we could all guess?" she suggested. "That's pretty fair, right? I mean, not totally fair because the person picking the number in the first place isn't in on it, but that doesn't necessarily mean..."

She reminded herself she'd said her point, and bit down on her thumb to shut herself up. She imagined the nail was going to be sore in the morning, but she thought it'd be worth it.

"Right then. I'll think of a number between one and --"

"No," Lan cut him off. "You don't get to pick the number, Tris. Everyone knows what number you always default to."

"I don't," Lily offered, her head tilted. But with Tristan, she'd bet it was something dirty, and she kind of grinned. "What number?"

Brenna rolled her eyes. "Sixty--" She blinked as she was suddenly silenced and she flicked accusing eyes to Tristan.

"Sorry," he apologized. "But I really don't want Elder Potter on my tail. I'm in enough trouble for getting her started on wand jokes."

Landon snorted back a laugh at that. "Oh, God Tristan," he said as he shook his head. "This is why I can't ever leave you alone. You corrupt the seconds."

He sighed before he stood up to get the hat. "Right you lot. Everyone write their name on something, and we'll fish one out of the hat. That'll be who goes first. Whoever they ask goes second, and so on and so forth," he elaborated.

Danny glanced to Eline once he'd finished chuckling at Lan and Tris.

"Mind if I use a bit of your journal then?" he asked quietly, though he didn't think he had a quill on hand. Well someone had to. "Has anyone got a quill, then?" he asked of the rest of the group.

Dominique rolled her eyes and fished one out of her bag.

"Here," she said, handing it to him before glancing to Eline as well, "Can I use a bit as well?"

Danny glanced to her and grinned.

"Copy cat," he accused teasingly.

Dominique stuck her tongue out at him like the mature individual she was.

“I’ll just give everyone a piece and we can all use Dom’s quill.“ Eline ripped a page out of her journal and tore it into eight different pieces. She distributed even portions to each player then took Dom’s quill and wrote her name on one in her slanted print. When she was done she folded the piece in half and dropped it in the hat.

She was proud that she could establish order easily. Maybe it was one of her talents? Randomly she pulled out her camera and snapped a picture of the group. Before things got to hectic, she needed a memory.

Bryn had been giggling at how the number suggestion wouldn't work, and took the offered sheet of paper from Eline's journal, and realized belated that she had also brought hers, which she could've just as easily used. But she didn't want to waste the paper, now that Eli had given her a piece. She was still wrestling with that when the quill came around, and she scrawled her name in flowing script before tossing it into the hat.

"Who gets to pick the first name?" she asked, her head practically whipping around the room. She prided herself that she'd limited herself to one question/comment, and bounced a bit in her chair.

She was giving some really serious thought to moving to the floor in a minute.

After everyone had put his name in (except him; he didn't actually want to go first and doubted anyone would notice his slip), he shook the hat a few times before offering it to Lily.

Lily plucked a paper out and unfolded it. "Dominique," she said as she showed the paper - in case people needed proof of her words. Or her reading skill. Whichever.

She looked up, a little surprised.

"Oh," she said, "Um, so ... am I doing the asking or the answering." She paused, blinked, and added, "Or doing."

Then she blushed and hoped no one had caught on to that, though Danny's soft laugh somewhere to the left didn't give her much hope. She shot him another dirty look and he shrugged at her.

“You’re doing the truth or dare, and Lilly does the asking,” Eline said. “I think.” Their arrangement--she felt--had a few flaws but she hoped once the drum started rolling everyone would know what to do. They wouldn’t be caught in anymore awkward situations.

Awkwardness made people feel well… awkward and then they would feel liable to get out of the situation. Meaning that they probably would make a lame excuse3 about being tired and run up to their common room, wishing they hadn’t spent the night in the Room of Requirements. Well that could still happen but in a completely different situation… Eline didn’t really want the awkwardness, she wanted people to have fun. She was sure as hell going to make it happen. Hopefully she didn’t scare anyone trying…

"Or you could probably do the asking," Bryn said thoughtfully, mostly thinking out loud. "Then when you're done, you can do the picking, and... oh wait..." she frowned. "No, that won't work, because what about the person you asked? They'd have to wait their turn, and I guess we don't want people to be asked twice, and..." And her thumb was in her mouth again.

"Eline's way will probably work best," she decided. As though they were waiting for her to confirm it. Her eyes darted around the room, and she chewed her nail somewhat apologetically. She was trying.

Tris had to wonder if they'd ever actually played before, and he sighed softly, shaking his head a little. "Lily was just picking who goes first. Dominique does the choosing of a victim and truthing or daring them," he explained patiently. "Whoever Dominique picked would then pick someone else, and it would go from there."

He shook his head, but grinned. "Honestly, people."

"A victim, hmm?" she echoed, grinning wickedly, "Well in that case, I pick Bryn before she bounces out her seat." She turned her pale, round face to the other 'puff. "So ..." she ventured, eyebrow raised, "Truth or Dare?"

And in the meantime, she did try to think of some good questions and dares because she hadn't really thought this out prior to the fact. Well, live and learn. She worried her lower lip slightly as she waited for Bryn's response.

Dom’s choice was wise, it did appear to Eline that Sabryna was about to explode. She had to give the girl credit, it was beyond her nature to stay quiet for so long but she was managing. Then again, Eline was doing a few things beyond her nature too.

Eline smiled at Sabryna encouragingly, hoping she picked something that would play as a good laugh. Maybe she wasn’t turning so nice after all…

"Dare!" Bryn said almost immediately. "No wait, truth! Um!" she bit at her lip, than reasoned with herself that the dares couldn't possibly be that bad and it was all in good fun - and likely, they wouldn't be able to come up with a truth that would be any fun - she didn't really have any deep dark secrets that she wasn't willing to share.

"Dare," she decided, nodding her head to Dom and swinging her feet on the chair absently. "Yes. Dare." She fluttered her lashes slightly, and though she didn't expect to be heeded at all, she said, "Be nice? Maybe? Please?" and grinned a bit.

Lily looked on curiously, waiting to see what the dare would be.

Tris grinned, settling into one of the chairs, bouncing the hat in his hands to hear the papers shuffling around inside.

(( and ... for the sake of convenience, posting order should be ignored; when you're called in-thread, take your turn? ))

"Right, dare," she said quietly, tapping a finger on her lips, gaze searching the room for some sort of inspiration. "Right. I dare you ... to pretend you're a statue and sit stock still for a full minute."

Maybe that was a little mean, but she didn't know enough about Bryn to be able to get a really juicy dare in, so there it was.

Bryn's mouth fell open in surprise, but her eyes were still sparkling with delight. She giggled, though somewhat nervously, and swallowed heavily.

"What happens if I don't manage it?" she asked weakly of the group, before she decided that was a silly question. She could stay still for one minute. It wasn't a huge deal.

Pulling her knees up, and wrapping her arms around them, she buried her head between her knees and closed her eyes, focusing on keeping her body still.

"'Kay, 'kay quick! Start the timer or whatever!" she called out. The sound was - of course - muffled by her legs.

She was doing her best to stay still, but her body was quivering with the effort. She dearly hoped that no one did anything interesting during her minute - otherwise she would undoubtedly look up and be unsuccessful. She wondered if there were consequences in this game, or if it was all in fun.
