Lucas had spend some time in the library and was now taking a walk around the place. He was hoping to find some way to get back to Gilmore. He didn't think he would but he hoped he figured that he should at least try.

He stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked down by the lake. He looked out on the lake and watched the waves lap for a few moments.

Layla looked at him intently, being quiet for a while to gauge how to talk to him. "This has nothing to do with you, you are a god send. I cannot help but think right now how naughty I feel, wanted and sexy...things I've never really felt before. Add in the fact that I have been kidnapped to a strange new place, I am scared. Freaking out like crazy here, but I was taught how to move forward, take what you have and use it to the best of your abilities. I guess now this makes us friends, well, no, more then friends, right? That leaves us to be two against the unknown really. I guess I am just saying that I am overwhelmed and hasty times make hasty decisions and everything I do I want to do for a purpose, for love and trust, for the right thing. Gosh, you are going to hate me or get upset with me again. Please don't?" Layla licked over her dry lips and bit at it, worrying over it. She really hoped he was willing to have a nice, long conversation. She needed it, she needed to bond to this man and she needed to know that it all wasn't chalked up to this sexy, primal, intensely beautiful sensation that she was feeling for him.

"OK. But that doesn't answer a lot of questions for me. I mean, how are you feeling? What are you feeling? What about your heart, right...you told me you had that issue. Doesn't it take doctor's appointments and medications? I really need for you to have a dialogue with you. More then being wanted and sexy, I need to know that I am a safety net, a friend, a confidant. My best friends are gone, they know me inside and out...all my intimacies and now poof, it is gone."

"My Uncle Keith, he's the one who brought me to it. I used to play when I was younger but I stopped. I told my mom it was because I didn't want to see my Dad but honestly, I didn't want her to have to. So my Uncle Keith told the coach in the school to check me out at the Rivercourt. He said he wanted me to know that I was good and to feel that I belonged. Nathan wasn't happy about it and we played one-on-one for my spot on the team. I won and I joined the team. They put me through some hazing. Like I mentioned with the basketballs. They also kidnapped me, tied my hands behind my back and threw me into muddy water in the middle of nowhere, other stuff like that. Then Haley started to tutor Nathan and he eased up on me. Then rest of the team eased up on me after I was in a car accident. Then I learned I had HCM and the meds started to slow me down as I wasn't playing as well. I did something silly then and stopped taking my meds so they wouldn't slow me down. After Keith died.... I told my mom and my coach about my heart condition and stopped playing. I really missed it. So my mom looked into it and found out I could play for 15 minutes a game. So I did and we got to the state championship. Nathan borrowed money from a loan shark and was asked to lose the state championship. So Skillz and I tried to freeze him out. I.... I didn't take my meds before the game. Stupid, I know. We ended up winning after Nathan found out he was having a son. After, the load shark knocked down Haley. I saw her and dialed 911 and I had a heart attack. A couple of days later I woke up. Nathan later confessed to the point shaving and lost his scholarship to Duke. So Whitey offered him a spot in Gilmore and he offered me the the spot of assistant coach. And the rest I guess you know."

Layla listened intently, each word got more and more under her skin. Her eyes were shiny and the tears were there, about to spill. At the mention of the kidnapping, her face turned angry and scared, but when he mentioned the car accident and a heart attack, her lower lip began to wibble. Layla threw her arms around his neck and held him hard enough that he probably couldn't breath. "Oh god, oh my god...Oh...Oh, I am so sorry. Oh, Oh golly."

Layla nuzzled her head against his, her tears splashing on his neck. She had no clue that she had him in a stranglehold.
