Three days....
Who: The Doctor and OTA
What: Kicking a football around outside
When: Mid-Afternoon
Rating: None At this Time
Status: Complete
Warning: Minor Spoiler Allusions

It's come to this. It's come to the time where the Doctor is unable to focus on the problem any longer and has to have an outlet. Much like using his big toe to expel energy, or sending his energy off some place else; sometimes the Doctor just needs an outlet. A useful outlet. A place to put his attention and focus that was productive - because it was becoming clear that the more time he spent in the TARDIS The less productive he was becoming.

It was like the planet was trying to drive him insane. Each time he'd repair one circuit another would fail. Just as he found the frequency he was looking for it would shift just so. Just when he thought he'd figured out where they were the flipping stars would change. THE STARS.

Then came when he'd met that blonde girl, Shannon. She'd called him edgy. Perhaps he was.

So, the Doctor decided that just for right now, just for an hour or so, he'd think nothing of the planet, escape, or fixing things. He needed to jsut release. So, he found a football and a net and set out on the lawn of kicking the ball at the net and the Golem playing keeper. The Golem wasn't very good - but he'd do.

"Oh, c'mon you can do better than that!"

"If you're looking for some competition..." The fae creature let the words trail off. He had no idea how to play this game, but it seemed all he'd have to do was stand in the way of the ball. He figured he could do that.

"The Doctor?" Jareth tilted his head to the side. He could go with his human name, but then, he wasn't in his human disguise. He hadn't seen the point, considering he was apparently trapped here. "I am Jareth." He paused and then added signficantly "The Goblin King."

He looked at the man thoughtfully, sizing him up. As someone who was fairly powerful, he could recognize the trait in others. And this man positively reeked of it. A small smile lit up the features of the Goblin King. How interesting.

"Goblin King? Like the Goblins of Yargo? I haven't been there for YEARS! Still have that emerald chasm?" Sure, he'd never met this guy in particular, but it's not like he frequented Yargo all that often. Though, he couldn't help but wonder what happened to Queen Hiacyn.

Another kick of the ball and another swoosh into the net.

"So, do you think you're up for some kicking or for some net minding?"

Jareth actually looked startled for a moment, then he laughed. "No, like the Goblins from my Realm of the Underground." Which surely could have used more explaining, but he didn't bother. He didn't see how it was really important.

Jareth had been leaning comfortably against the net, simply watching this strange man. Now, he pushed himself away from the metal frame and gave the man a bit of a smile. "I think I'll try to stop you from putting the ball in the net."

Though the whole thing did seem a bit ridiculous, actually, but he was bored and this was the first actual person he'd met. He could put up with a bit of nonsense for that.

"Realm of the Underground..." It could have sounded like a question as he repeated it, instead it just sounded like a hollow thought.

"Alright," he said cheerfully in response to Jareth's offer to play keeper for a while.

Dribbling the ball back and forth for a minute the Doctor chose his shot - upper right corner, shouldn't be too hard for his competitor to block.

Well, this guy was an odd one. Jareth looked at him thoughtfully for a second and then shook his head. Any number of scathing insults came to mind, but he rather thought they would be wasted on him. "Yes, my home." He settled for that, instead.

With a sort of flair for the dramatic, the king went over to the net. He had been wearing a half cape, brilliant red in color, and he flung it to the side to reveal a black shirt with big poofy sleeves. Once there, he stood in front of the net, waiting.

He smirked as the ball came in. Too easy... He easily blocked it and sent the ball flying back towards the Doctor. "Oh, come on... you'll have to do better than that."

"It might be your home; but, I've never heard of it. I make it my business to know the universe," With that he sighed. This was the third or fourth place people were mentioning that neither he (or the TARDIS database he suspected) had never heard of.

Unimpressed, or more likely unphased by Jareth's choice of attire he'd seen enough strange outfits in his tours about the galaxies that it didn't really bother him to see someone in poofy shirts.

As the ball came sailing back in his general direction the Doctor looked undaunted. It was nice not to have to wait for the Golem to send it back at him.

Lining up his next shot he kicked it in a curve-ball-esque arch, the final path coming in to the bottom left corner of the net. "I just love my left foot. It's relatively new to me, but it's probably the favorite of all the ones I've had."

"Well, that explains that." He spoke with a very noticable smirk on his face. "My realm is not in your universe. It's entirely another plane of existance." He paused to kick the ball back to the other man, not even seeming all that interested in what he was doing.

"I should know, after all." He pursed his lips. "I created it." After this startling pronouncement, he set his slender, lithe body and waited for the ball to be sent toward him. In some strange way, he was enjoying himself. He couldn't say why, exactly, except perhaps that it reminded him of his human guise.

"But I wouldn't expect a human..." He paused once more to consider the man. That didn't seem exactly right. The man looked human enough, but Jareth sensed power in him, too, far above your average person. "Well, I wouldn't expect you to understand about creating dimensions."

The ball came back just as before and the Doctor had to admit that while the Golem ahd been greatly helpful in returning the ball, it did so extraordinarily slowly. It was also nice to not have his shots hit the net - it felt more like a game of catch than a one sided practice.

"Oh, you shouldn't assume so much," The Doctor said cheekily, his kick sent off with little intention of actually making it into the net as he let his brain actually work.

"Well, Paralel dimensions are my business as well, really. We have the schism, of course - nobody actually wants to wind up there. Also there's the Bzep, decided it best to have a parallel realm all their own, until it collapsed..." His left cheek scrunched as he touched a finger to the rim of his glasses, thoughtfully.

"Now, I know you Goblins enjoy a good game of fool-me, fool-you; but I'm going to take you at your world that in your Universe you created it; but, in my universe I've been to it's very birth quite a few times, and I have to say you were noticeably absent..." Cheekiness gone, insert cocky timelord jibber jabber here as he momentarily paused to collect his thoughts.

"Now, I've been thinking, Jareth... Mind if I call you that? Or are you partial to the whole title thing?" One breath here and he continued, "Seems we've got quite a few paralel universes converging on this wonderful planet of ours; and I can't say my brain likes the feel of it. It's all kind of... squishy and hard all at the same time. Like jello with those bits of fruit stuck in it - I really hate when people do that..."

"How'd you create your dimension, anyway? Black hole sifting? Manipulation of the time vortex? Light Schism?" Thinking fondly the Doctor recalled their junior year project at the academy to create a dimension the size of a small button using only a vortex manipulator and a sonic pulse. He'd hated that class.

It was easy to fall into a rhythm. It wasn't like Jareth normally spent a lot of time playing Soccer. In fact, he'd never done it before in his extraordinarily long life. He'd watched enough of it, just through virtue of being alive so long, but this was the first time playing it. But it was rather nice, he might admit if pressed, to be doing something so physical.

He effortlessly returned the ball back. "Well, we all have to assume something, don't we? Or else nothing would ever get done." He pointed out as the ball went sailing back to the Doctor's hands. "It wouldn't work very well."

His eyebrows raised and he looked at the Doctor with just a touch more respect... and possibly some unease, as well. Another manipulator of worlds, he did not need. He could do without the competition, to be honest. "Oh, really..." His voice was slightly sardonic, much like usual, not betraying his thoughts.

"I am not a Goblin..." He tilted his chin up and positively glared at the man. He hated when people called him that. "You don't have to be something to be King over their kind..." He sighed and shook his head. "I was born before humans existed, thank you." Really, he was getting remarkably huffy over this. He didn't see any need for this human to be insulting him like this.

But the man made a good point, he had to admit grudgingly. "Yes, I suppose that's one way to explain it... one very plebian way, of course." He shook his head slightly. "It has a strange flavor. I think I prefered the Underground."

One eyebrow rose eloquently and the fae creature laughed. "No. I create it like I create anything..." Suddenly, he stood very straight. He gestured, and from nowhere, a crystal ball appeared in his hand. In one swift, smooth motion, he threw it. It flew for a ways, and then vanished. It it's place was an apparently living, breathing, jabbering Goblin like his subjects. "This is on a smaller scale, of course."

Playfully the Doctor sent the ball again careening in Jareth's direction. He still had too much restless energy to be rid of to stand around thinking and bantering. He'd come out for some football and he was going to kick the ball around until he'd had his fill.

"Oh, just your standard academy fare, really," he dismissed the Goblin King's response of 'oh, really,' and sort of shrugged.

"Have you headed to your room yet? I'm betting it'll be styled like that Underground of yours," the Doctor replied hopefully, letting his attention kind of wander back to the idea of alternate realms. He wondered if he could use an alternate, paralel dimension as a place of refuge from the planet. It's not like the planet could keep science from working, could it?

The ball with it's eventual goblin were observed and tucked away in memory. Certainly seemed like more energy-matter conversion to him. There certainly were a lot of people working very scientific magic around these parts with no idea of how it actually worked. Then again, if the Doctor could do those sorts of things he probably wouldn't care how it worked either. Wait... yeah he would. He most certainly would care how it worked.

Jareth nodded and pursed his lips. "I see." He tried to keep his body language non commital, though he was starting to get worried. This person seemed innocent enough, but he was really starting to wonder just how much of it was an act. There was a strange sort of power coming from him, and it disturbed him.

But he kept that down, and snapped his attention back to the game. Jareth did nothing by halves, and that included kicking a ball around. Or in his case, playing keeper to it. Once more, he sent the ball sailing back toward the Doctor, much quicker and also less predictably than a golem could do it.

"Yes, of course." He stopped for a moment and gestured. A crystal appeared in his hand, which he held out to the Doctor. In it appeared his labyrinth, with the goblin city at the center. He tossed it up into the air, and the thing disappeared for a second. "I feel right at home there."

Both the scrying crystal and the apparent goblin disappeared just as quickly as they'd appeared, and Jareth caught the ball this time. He kicked it somewhat harder now, not enough to send it really flying but enough that the Doctor was going to have to move for it. "Let's get serious about this, shall we?"

He had to move to get the ball, converse trainers squishy on the grass. It was nice to have a challenge, but as the ball went back and forth it became clear that Jareth was playing more than just a friendly game of pass the ball - which was really all the Doctor was in for anyway.

Taking up the ball he sort of shrugged, "Serious? What's serious about a game of pass the football?" Tossing the ball up he dribbled for a couple of minutes, passing the black and white icon back and forth between his knees and feet. It felt good to sort of jitter a bit - since getting here the Doctor hadn't had occasion to run to or from anything - and it felt like his world was lacking something.

Sending the ball back to Jareth he aimed the pass right for him and obviously not the net.
