Group Activity - Hiking!
WHO: Marcus Cole, Sidney Prescott, James Norrington, Rose Tyler (posting order TBD)
WHAT: Group activity -- Hiking
WHEN: Day 30, morning
WHERE: Outside the lodge, on the lawn
RATING: PG?
STATUS: Incomplete

Marcus woke to find a much more yellow variety of sunlight coming in his window. He had had an excellent time the day before, with the snowball fight and the requisite hot cocoa afterwards, but had been getting tired of the wintry landscape, to be honest. He had been around Mirage for a while, however, and knew things were going to change soon. He was delighted, therefore, but not surprised, to look out the front door of his apartment and see a green lawn leading down to a charming lake. The sound of birds singing had returned, along with air that smelled clean and was crisp enough to wake you up, but not enough to require gloves and a hat. He also found a note posted on his door.

Having been through this before, Marcus knew exactly what this was. Reading the note over quickly, he memorized the particulars, and got on with his morning routine. He estimated that he had just enough time to run through his exercises, get dressed, and have breakfast before he had to be in front of the main building at nine o'clock. When choosing his outfit, the Ranger surprised himself by opting not to wear his customary uniform. Though it was well-suited to any environmental conditions, and though he was not overly concerned with his appearance, he had come to the feeling that experimenting with other clothing was one of the pleasures the planet allowed them, so why not take advantage of it, as long as he dressed sensibly.

So it was that he found himself standing in front of the front door of the lodge at five-to-nine, dressed in long cotton pants, a t-shirt under a long-sleeved flannel jacket, woolen socks, and hiking boots. Against the wall of the lodge, golems had arranged four rucksacks, fully-stocked for a day-hike, along with four walking sticks. Marcus had just hefted his pack for the first time, when he saw another hiker approaching.

Marcus didn't have to wait very long before others arrived for the hike. The first was a young brunette who waited a bit before speaking.

"Yes, it seems so. Grab a backpack and a walking stick, and we'll wait to see who else shows up."

Judging from Marcus's timepiece, it was almost nine, so the others should be there soon. In his experience, there were usually three, four, or five people at a group activity, so more were probably on their way.

Soon a handsome man wearing an outfit a little more old-fashioned than that of most of the Mirage inhabitants strode up, speaking confidently, with an accent not dissimilar from Marcus's own.

"Good morning. Yes, there is a backpack and a walking stick for each of us. My name is Marcus, by the way. May I know yours?"

Soon after, the three of them were joined by another young woman, this one blonde.

"Yes, you have. Glad you could join us. Rose, isn't it?"

After nine o'clock had come and gone, Marcus was fairly certain no one else was coming. After all, anyone who was inclined to be late would have been picked up by the golems and brought to the meeting place by force. The group activities might be fun, but they weren't optional. His suppositions were confirmed when a golem approached them, stopped by the trees a few metres away, and pointed into the forest, at a trailhead the Ranger hadn't noticed before.
