Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:alphonse elric, astor bennett, complete, day 30, gray harkness, group activity, susan pevensie

Who: Susan Pevensie, Gray Harkness, Astor Bennett, Alphonse Elric (posting order set)
When: Day 30
What: Meeting of the Younger (along with one teen) Residents of Mirage via Video Games
Rating: PG-13 tops
Status: Incomplete

Susan saw the note on her door and was beyond confused, she had never heard of video games before and it showed on her face. But she also saw there were 3 others, all she had not met yet so this should be a sight. So once the golems showed up she sat in th video game area and waited for the rest to arrive. The simple skirt and sweater was more fitting the 1940's and well this young queen would not explain Narnia unless asked but she was quite curious. "So different, nothing like home or even Narnia" as she watched the doorway while sipping some mint tea.

Susan also has no idea that she would be the oldest of this little group at 16 or that 2 of the kids are close in age to her own sister.

Gray peered outside his door, thinking about talking to his big brother or Rose or Andy when he saw the note. He took it down and read it over before shrugging and setting it on his desk, not at all keen on mingling with people he didn't know without someone he did know.

The boy went back into his room, leaving the door partially open, and sat down on the floor pulling a sketch pad over along with a charcoal pencil then promptly begins to draw.

Astor heard a faint sound outside her bedroom door and frowned. She was a light sleeper and between the sound and the bright sunlight, she was awake. Looking over at the clock, she frowned further. Too early for her taste, if she wasn't going to school.

Still, she was curious, so she climbed out of bed, dressed, and opened the door, looking outside. No one was there, but there was a note on the door and she took it off, going back into her room and closing the door behind her. She crossed the room and sat back down on the bed, reading it and when she was finished, crumpled it and dropped it into the waste paper basket between the beds. New people were one thing and she really did want to make friends, but not playing video games.

Video games were Cody's thing and if Cody wasn't coming, she wasn't going.

She laid back down on the bed, not bothering to throw a visible temper tantrum for no one to see, and stared at the ceiling, chin wobbling and eyes filling with tears as she thought of how much Cody would've loved to play if he was here.

Her eyes meandered over to the empty bed and she violently rolled over, throwing herself onto her stomach and burying her face in her pillow to scream out of sheer frustration.

It seemed like an eternity had passed and she was still crying when she felt something grab her. Not again! she thought, eyes wide with fear and tears halted with panic. She wrenched her arm away and stared back at the thing. It was one of the creatures she'd seen the other day when she'd gotten here - near the garage with the guy who had the weird accent.

The thing grabbed her again and Astor screamed, this time, in anger, when it held her fast and started dragging her from her room. Astor grabbed and held onto just about anything she could, trying to keep the creature from taking her away from her room, protesting with angry kicks, punches, and shouts all along the way until it deposited her in a room where there was another girl standing. It closed the door behind her and she slammed her fists against it. "I'M NOT PLAYING STUPID VIDEO GAMES WITHOUT CODY!" she screamed fruitlessly.

When she was too tired to continue her tantrum, Astor kicked the door one last time and then passed the girl, throwing herself down on the couch and crossing her arms over her chest, sniffling and wiping her tear-stained cheeks on the shoulder of her t-shirt. "Hate this place," she muttered quietly to herself, heavy frown lines in her forehead.

Al had decided to take a nap. After he slept for about 30 minutes, though, he got the feeling that something was in the room with him. He opened his eyes sleepily to see a golem staring right down at him. Al let out a yelp and scrambled backwards. "What the?!"

The golem handed him a note and Al looked at the creature suspiciously for a moment before reaching out and taking it. He opened it up and read what was inside, then blinked at the creature in confusion. "You want me to go meet these people?"

The golem motioned for Al to follow him so Al sat up and let the golem led him out of the room. He didn't take him to the main resort though. He took him to another building were people lived. The golem stopped in front of a door and pointed at it. The door said Gray Harkness on it. "Oh!" Al exclaimed when he realized that Gray was one of the names on the note. "You want me to get him?" he asked the golem. The creature nodded, then rested it's stone finger on where the location was. "You want me to get him and then go to where the 'video games' are?" Al asked, wanting to clarify. The golem nodded again then reached out and pushed Gray's door all the way open. Once it had done so, it turned and walked off, seemingly satisfied.

"Okay..." Al watched as the golem left then poked his head into Gray's room. He spotted a kid a few years younger than him, at least physically, who looked like he was in the middle of drawing something. "Uhm. Hi!" Al waved his hand in greeting as he smiled, hoping he appeared friendly. "I'm Al. I think we're supposed to go and meet two other people and play this game called 'video'. Any idea what that is?"

Susan only saw a younger girl, she guessed Astor was pretty close to Lucy's age. She finally spoke, her accent no suprise with her British roots. "I have no idea what these things called video games even are!" looking hopeless at trying to set up the system. She called to Astor,"You know how these things even work?" having a weird feeling she was not the only clueless one. She asked Astor,"You want to help me set this up while we wait? I only know the names of the other two, a Gray and an Alphonse" not knowing this was basically a meeting of 3 kids and a teenager. The skirt was too proper for video games but Susan only knew she had to look and act like a lady.

Gray had glanced up when his door opened and returned to sketching. He paused when someone started talking to him and looked up at the source of the young sound voice.

"A video game?" Gray asked softly. "There's a lot of different types of video games. A machines to play them." He looked back down at his sketch. "I really didn't want to go but I guess I should..."

The boy stood and brushed his hand off on his jeans and walked over to Al, offering his hand. "I'm Gray."

Astor frowned heavily. "They're stupid, that's what they are," she grumped at the other girl. She didn't really think so, but she was in a bad mood now. The Planet was keeping her here, away from her family, and now the stupid place was rubbing it in.

She shifted a little, crossing her arms over her chest as the other girl asked if she knew how the consoles worked and whether she could help set it up while they waited for two more people to come. With a sigh and an overdramatic roll of her eyes, Astor pushed herself off the couch again, dropping down Indian style beside the other girl.

"Just let me do it," she said snappishly, snatching away the console - not one she was familiar with, because she only knew about Cody's Nintendo 64, but she had a feeling that the basic setups were the same. "It's just a game, but you play it on the TV with the controlers instead of, like, a board game. Everybody knows that," she grumbled as she untangled the cords. "You put the yellow plug in the yellow hole and the red plug in the red one, and then you do the same on the TV. It's so easy," she said, frowning, as she did just that and then dropped the console unceremoniously in front of the televison. "There," she said, rounding up the setup by plugging in the controllers and handing one of them to the other girl and leaving the other abandoned beside the console as she got to her feet and dropped back on the couch. "When they show up and you wanna play, you just put in the game there," she said listlessly, pointing, "and press the power button."

Astor knew she was being rude, but she couldn't bring herself to care. She'd feel badly about it when she calmed down, but for now, she just wanted to be anywhere but here and, unfortunately for this other girl, Astor planned on taking it out on her newfound 'friend.'

"Oh, you know what they are?" Al asked in relief. At least someone would know what they were doing. He took Gray's hand and shook it with a big smile. "It's nice to meet you. Don't worry, I'm sure the other two will be nice as well. I haven't met anyone who wasn't here yet. Come on! I'm not exactly sure where this is, but I think I have an idea." He smiled again and set off, making sure Gray was walking by his side.

Susan let Astor take over the set up, ha if she was anything like Lucy and Edmund being able to help would be a good thing. "Thank you Astor" Susan's natural grace came back since she felt like it was needed,"I was just confused since in my time we did not have video games and do you know of either Gray or Alphonse?" she asked. She added,"Trust me, you remind me so much of Lucy right about now, she could have a temper at times too".

Gray blinked in surprise at the other boy's openness and smiled slightly. "Yep. I know what they are." He followed the other boy as quickly as he could making a mental note to probably ask Yuna to heal him after the group activities where over.

So he hasn't met the other two...I hope they are nice...

"Have you been here long?" He asked softly as they approached the building. "I've only been here for a day or so."

When the other girl thanked her, Astor's cheeks reddened with shame. She looked back at the girl and nodded, saying nothing. It wasn't this girl's fault that the Planet made her come to play video games against her will. She felt worse, still, when the other girl went on to point out that the time from which she came didn't have video games.

Astor looked down. "No," she answered when asked if she knew either Gray or Alphonse. It then occurred to her that the other girl knew all the names and Astor didn't know any except her own. She wondered if the names were on the note that she hadn't really read. Once she'd seen 'video games,' she'd stopped reading, after all.

Slowly, Astor looked back up again. "I'm sorry...what was your name?" she asked sheepishly.

Al shook his head. "No, I've only been here for a couple of days too. This place isn't bad, though, don't you think? Want to know something? This is the second time I've been taken to a different world," Al admitted with a little laugh. "I'm from a place called Amestris and was taken to a place called Germany in a place called Europe, then I was brought here."

"Susan" Susan flashed Astor a gentle smile. "Look I figured the golems decided to get on your case so nothing to worry about with me and you are pretty close in age to Lucy, she's almost 12 so I have experience with kids your age" as she watched Astor set everything up. "I'm from 1940's England so video games is a new one for me and I think you can teach me,Gray and Al how these things work since you know what you're doing".

"I like it a lot better then where I was." Gray answered Al quietly, stopping by the doors. "I've been to other worlds. I just never had the freedom to explore them. Well except my home world."

He rubbed his cast subconsciously. "I was born on Boeshane and...I really don't want to talk about where I was before now."

Astor looked down at the controllers she'd abandoned and shook her head. "I'm crappy at video games," she said. "I'd rather watch...my little brother was the one who liked to play them."

With a heavy sigh, she looked around the room and had noticed that the other two still hadn't arrived. "Wish they'd hurry up so we could play and I can go back to my room," she muttered under her breath.

"If you wanna play, just press the power button and take one of the controllers. I don't really know this one...my brother has a Nintendo, but this isn't one, so your guess is as good as mine," she added to Susan in a dull voice. "Most games will have an option to look at directions, though."

Astor didn't know which console it was, because she hadn't bothered to check, but she could clearly see that it wasn't the Nintendo 64 console with which she was vaguely familiar.

"Boeshane," Al repeated. It wasn't a place he was familiar with. He wondered if it was another place on the other side of the Gate. Most of the people seemed to be from there. He dropped it though when he saw it made Gray uncomfortable.

Eventually, they got to the room they were supposed to meet the other two at. Sure enough, two girls were sitting inside. Al stared at the strange devices in fascination for a moment before he realized he should probably introduce himself. "Hi!" he greeted cheerfully. "I'm Al and this is Gray."

That was when Susan had an idea so she leaned in and asked Astor,"What system do you know best? Maybe we can get one so you know what you're doing" she offered. As she spoke she spotted two boys arrive, one about Astor's age and the other a bit older but closer in age to Edmund. "I'm Susan and this is Astor, we're supposed to be playing video games and Astor is showing me how they work since they are not from my time period"

"I don't really know any system a whole lot more than any other," Astor admitted. "Like I said. I was more into watching than playing, but Cody has a Nintendo 64, so I sort of know that one, a little."

The younger girl looked up when she heard the other two boys and then leaned back against the couch trying not to roll her eyes when Susan said that Astor was trying to show her how they work. "I just said how to turn it on and follow the directions," Astor corrected grumpily. "I'm not playing," she insisted.

Gray stepped back slightly, a little uncomfortable. "What...what systems do you have?" The boy asked quietly. "I've watched."

He looked down not wanting to go that route. "I've watched others play so I know a little about some of them."

Gray attempted to give them both a smile but it comes out a little wan.

"Oh!" Al said to Susan when she said video games didn't exist in her time period. "I think I remember talking to you once through the journals. You're from the 1940's, right? I'm from... 1923," Al decided to say, giving the year on the other side the Gate instead of his own, "so I don't know what they are either." Al's eyes slid over the electronic devices with interest as he sat down on the floor.

Susan asked for an Nintendo 64 as she spoke, having an idea since Astor reminded her of Lucy. "1940's Great Britian actually" she explained to Al and flashed a gentle smile towards Grey. She added to Gray,"My younger sister is pretty close to your age" having a feeling to just be careful for some reason.
