Who: The Doctor and OTA
When: During the Snowball fight
Where: In the library
Rating: None
Status: Complete

There was a certain, special affinity that the Doctor had for libraries. Well, perhaps it was for the books. Perhaps it was just the smell of the libraries he'd been in that made them seem like such wonderful, special places to him. As vast and enormous as the Planet's library was, it lacked the smell - it seemed the planet hadn't mastered the scent of aged paper or or leather binding. It's not that the Doctor faulted the planet for this, it was more that he just missed what was there as opposed to getting all wrapped up in what was.

There was a snowball fight going on right outside the windows that separated him from the chill and the snow. He could see people hurling clumps and the frosty white stuff left and right and the trainer clad man knew that he made the right choice by hanging out in the stacks. Slow steps carried the Doctor down the aisle as his fingers ran lightly across the binding, not caring for the titles in so much as the feel of the books beneath his fingers.

Grasping blindly the Doctor took a book from the shelf and meandered to a large, leather chair. Taking a seat and throwing his feet up on the ottoman the Doctor settled in to explore the title. Opening the book he was all ready to sink his teeth into the prose when movement at the entry caught his attention.

"Hello?"

Kibeth shrugged, a movement that was more a rolling back of her shoulders than a traditional shrug. "I wouldn't say I was snatched" she commented, staring out the window without really seeing what was beyond the glass. "Rescued maybe. If this place hadn't grabbed me I probably would have slipped past the..." she cut herself off and shook her head slightly. No, that was information no one needed, even this strange, interesting Doctor. She turned to face him and gave a half smile.

"Maybe some of us are happy here because this is where we should be? If you're always running around, it can be hard to find your true place. I..." she stopped again, glanced down at the book she was holding and nodded one. "I think I at least am supposed to be here.

He was a bit taken aback by the verbal reprimand. Perhaps she was right, it was wrong for him to use a word with such negative connotations as snatched - but, that's how he felt, like he'd been snatched from his life.

"Rescued? You're the second person I've met with that sort of outlook, actually," he said, choosing not to probe into what she nearly slipped past. If she wanted to tell, she would; it wasn't much his business anyway, was it?

"I'm not supposed to be here," he said this with a rather stoic expression, "Of this I am positively certain. There's a timeline to maintain, I know that much. There's a future that I need to be there for - something big," he had this feeling, just from the way he'd seen the others from his universe acting that something big had happened at their part in the timeline. Something he had been there for. Something he had to be there for.

The spot between his brows crinkled. He was thinking again of what people who'd been "rescued" by the planet had meant to their timelines. What little ripples were going out across time and space while this planet held them firmly rooted.

What were their missing actions, missing lives, missing deaths causing?

Kibeth shrugged again. He was thinking too much, she could tell. Liriel had had that problem as well, a tendency to over anyalize problems instead of just seeing where complications might take you. Though his talk of timelines was interesting. How could he know the future so accurately?

"I suppose" she said slowly "I guess I don't worry, because I was finished being where I was. And I didn't have anywhere new to go." She pulled the book out from under her arm and gestured at it. "This though, this gives me an idea of why I'm here. I refuse to think I was taken at random, so if you will excuse me, I think I'll start work on something"

She gave him a dazzling smile. "Perhaps you too were brought for a reason."

"Finished being where you were? You mean you finished your work and were ready to move on?" He wanted clarification on this, because it seemed to be an odd way of putting things, 'finished being where I was,' it sounded like something he might say, actually.

"If anything, I was brought here to help people leave who'd like to," he said with an echo of her grin. "Good luck," he said with a grin, taking up his book again as he wondered if he ought to look for something a bit more foreign in the stacks.

"No, finished being where I was. Made my goodbyes and finished being who and what I was." It was a bit more than she really wanted to explain, but it was too late to take the words back now. She'd leave it at that, and hopefully he'd forget.

"It's been nice meeting you" she said, heading towards the door. "Perhaps we'll talk again?"

OOC: complete?
